Val Kilmer Hospitalized

TMZ reports that after he started bleeding from his throat, Val Kilmer was rushed to the hospital on Monday. Doctors performed surgery on the actor, and found a throat tumor. He had been covering his throat with a scarf in recent public outings. Kilmer is currently recovering from the surgery.

    I'm confused. He'd been using a scarf prior to the surgery? Was something else going on that he was hiding?

      ALNL I think the tumor was obvious so he covered it up and ignored the medical implications.

      I didn't know there was a Roswell in Georgia.
      She's breathing steadily and in the doctors care now. Hopefully they will look after her.

    Denial is never good in health matters. Hope he recovers.

    As far as Bobbi she's going to go like her mother without any of the talent. Sad she didn't have better role models. I hope SHE accepts help and turns her life around.

    I knew someone who had a thyroid tumour - at first I thought it was odd that her throat seemed lopsided but I never said anything and she finally got it checked out and it was a cancerous thyroid tumour on one side of her neck. She had it removed and been fine since no radiation required.

      Never heard of the throat bleeding, that sounds like it may have been left too long, just saying.

      @ecua, they don't disbelieve in medical treatment, they just think prayer works better.

      The church does not require that Christian Scientists avoid all medical care – adherents use dentists, optometrists, obstetricians, physicians for broken bones, and vaccination when required by law – but maintains that Christian Science prayer is most effective when not combined with medicine.

      In my cousin's city, there was an outbreak of kids dying b/c the parents tried to pray away the illness. One little girl had pnuemonia and her lungs were filled with fluid, she had a pulmonary edema and died in her bed. It took the parents over 12 hours to call 911 because they called their fellow believers to pray her alive. There was a little girl who had an abscess in her eye that grew over the eye, essentially rendering her blind, and the parents refused treatment. The state took her away from the family and they found that if the abscess wasn't removed, the girl would have gone permanently blind in that eye. Such horrible, irresponsible parents.

      Yes, it's so irresponsible and horrible to deny children medical care. I don't care about adult Christian Scientists refusing care for themselves, though. Btw, I wonder how many Christian Scientists with life-threatening illnesses have been cured by prayer alone.

    That's weird I never heard he was into Christian Science. Was that something he got into after his career went south? He was everywhere for ages until he went through his divorce with Joanne Whalley in '96. A few years after that, he sort of dropped out of sight. I never heard anything about him having health problems or drinking/drug problems either. What happened to him?
