Celebrity Real Estate - I Love Lucy Edition

The former Beverly Hills home of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz hit the market earlier this year for $6.985 million, and recently closed for $6.22 million. The 14,440 square foot 1920s Spanish-style home features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a guesthouse, and sits on three acres. See pictures of the property here.

  1. Nice house, but if it were in, say Lincoln, Nebraska, it would be going for about one-tenth the price.

  2. It's nice, but it's not breath taking.

    1. I was waiting for ANY period features. Its been totally redone, and is bland.

  3. I'd bet that house was beautiful when it was built, but at some point, it's been stripped of its' personality with the California-esque white walls and monochromatic color scheme. It's a shame. Spanish style homes should have rich, deep earth tones, not anemic whites and beiges.

    1. The article says they rented this house in 1953 while they were building their permanent house down the street.

    2. It wasn't actually owned by them. The article says they leased the home while another home was being built for them down the street.

  7. How lovely.
My mom was actually lucky enough to see one of Desi's compounds in La Paz, Mexico, where I believe Bing Crosby also lived.

  8. Is this the house that Lucy's second husband Gary Morton's widow was living in? I read the book by the young guy who was friends with Lucy after she married Gary and her house then was Spanish style. I always thought it was wrong that Lucy and Desi's house didn't stay with the Arnaz family.

  9. Damn could the colors in that house get any more monochrome? It could seriously use at least a dash or two of color here and there. Nice place though.
