Chris Cornell Toxicology Report

TMZ reports that Chris Cornell's toxicology report has been completed. At the time of his passing, he had in his system Butalbital (seditave), Lorazepam (Ativan), Pseudoephedrine (decongestant), barbiturates, and Naloxone (Narcan, which EMT's administered to counteract an opiate OD). Cornell had taken four Ativan that night. Early reports of his passing mentioned that there were fresh "track marks" on Cornell's arm; those turned out to be from the EMT's administering the Narcan.

Cornell's widow Vicky released the following statement:
"Many of us who know Chris well, noticed that he wasn’t himself during his final hours and that something was very off. We have learned from this report that several substances were found in his system. After so many years of sobriety, this moment of terrible judgement seems to have completely impaired and altered his state of mind.

Something clearly went terribly wrong and my children and I are heartbroken and are devastated that this moment can never be taken back. We very much appreciate all of the love we have received during this extremely difficult time and are dedicated to helping others in preventing this type of tragedy.”

Is this young actress really back together with her handsome actor ex-boyfriend?

"Well, they were never a real couple to start with (I think you know why) so this is just more of that. But, yeah, he likes the publicity and he can handle her crazy, so he’ll hang with her for a while.  He knows she is just using him so that it doesn’t look like she got rejected by [that reality star], but that’s fine, because he’s using her, too, because she is even more famous now than when they dated before. She’ll help him get a few hundred thou more followers on social media."

Hollywood Reporter's Drama Actor Roundtable

The Hollywood Reporter recently gathered Riz Ahmed, Ewan McGregor, Billy Bob Thornton, Sterling K. Brown, John Lithgow and Jeffrey Wright for a drama actor's roundtable interview. Here is an excerpt:

Jeffrey, there's a big reveal in Westworld where we find out your character, Bernard, is a robot. How much did you know?

WRIGHT I found out that morning. I showed up to shoot and …

ALL What? No, no! (Laughter.)

WRIGHT No. No. (Laughs.)

Some actors prefer that.

WRIGHT I don't think it would have been possible with this because … if you look back at the previous episodes, you'll see these bread crumbs. I didn't know when we shot the pilot. But when we came back, [showrunner] Lisa Joy pulled me aside and said, "Bernard's uh …" You know, an incredibly articulate woman who stumbled around for 20, 30 seconds. "Um, um, he's very complicated. How do I say this? How do I …?" And then she dropped it on me. And yeah, it was necessary because there are little flashes of forecasting that I would throw in.

Do the rest of you like knowing where your characters are headed?

LITHGOW I've been in two situations now where when I was offered a role — the first was Dexter and the second is [NBC's] Trial & Error — the writers told me the entire story but said I couldn't tell anyone, including the other actors. So I went through Dexter playing the Trinity Killer with all these secrets. They didn't intend to tell me everything, but when they pitched it to me, I kept saying, "No, but what about this? What about that?" So I knew the whole story and nobody else did, including the directors.

AHMED Wow.

LITHGOW There was a moment where my character was sitting at a counter watching TV and a murder was being reported and it was clear to the audience that I had done the murder. In [truth], I had not. And the director, Keith Gordon, who's a really good director, said something to me that [revealed] that he didn't know himself. I had to take him aside and say, "You know what's going on, don't you?" And he didn't!

WRIGHT On Westworld, we all had our own secrets and there'd be a flurry of texts among the cast when individual secrets were revealed. We'd go, "What?!" I knew more than most because there were multiple layers to this thing. I was satisfied with my pile of knowledge, but there were betting lines being offered and odds being issued.

Riz, you did a phenomenal amount of research for your role. How did it inform your performance?

AHMED I went to the Rikers Island prison, which thankfully I hear they're closing because some of the stories that I heard there were wild. Forget turning up there as a new inmate; if you turn up there as a corrections officer, the inmates will test you. So, if you're a new guy, the inmates will start messing with you or just disobeying you or being verbally abusive, and you've got to prove yourself. And I said, "Well, what does that mean? Are you extra harsh in laying down the rules?" One guy goes, "No, you have to fight them." I was like, "How do you mean? Psychologically?" He's like, "No, you take them out in cuffs, you go out into the corridor, you make sure the cameras are shut off, and you uncuff them and go at it. That's how you win respect as a C.O." So there's a kind of crazy, gladiatorial, dog-eat-dog situation there. Interviewing people who have been through the prison system, those stories are all very flashy and they stick with you, but it was [also] the detail of things, like how people just let go of family because it's too painful after a while. I'd go nuts and record people for hours.

THORNTON I've shot in a lot of prisons, and that's an environment that can really put you in there. You get it right away and you start to see how people operate. We were shooting Monster's Ball in Angola Prison in Louisiana. They call it The Farm. And Sean Combs, who was in the movie, he wasn't an actor, but he was a huge, huge star.

BROWN Never heard of him. (Laughs.)

THORNTON I'll tell you all about hip-hop later.

BROWN School me, boss.

THORNTON There is a scene when he was going to the electric chair and we shot it on death row, and it was the electric chair they used. Well, Sean is in there before the scene, and they shaved his head and all this stuff, and he said to me, "Listen, I'm nervous as hell. Man, anything you can do to help me. You got anything for me?" And I said, "You're already there, dude." He says, "What do you mean?" And I said, "You're going to the electric chair, man." And he goes, "Oh, yeah." (Laughter.)

Gwyneth Paltrow Tries To Figure Out Why People Hate Her Again

Gwyneth Paltrow recently sat down for an interview with Net-a-Porter's The Edit. Here are some highlights:

On why she has so many haters:
“It’s got a few layers to it. People were fine with me as an actress, but with Goop it was like, ‘Stay in your lane.’ Women in general get a lot of pushback, especially if you’re successful and attractive. I’m not saying I’m attractive. I mean when you’re considered attractive.”

On how she deals with haters:
“You get inured. It’s literally not about me, but what I represent. There’s a lot of projection. And it only hurts your feelings if you already think that about yourself. So, when criticisms stung, I used it to think, ‘What judgment am I holding against myself?’ I tried to learn from it.”

On why she started Goop:
“I made this tiny database so my friends would stop fucking calling me.”

On moving back to LA :
“When Chris and I were talking about separating, he said, ‘You probably want to go home,’ and I think he wanted a change, too. We were ready for some sunshine. Twenty years ago it was so showbiz-centric, so empty. Now there’s tech, art, finance, food – it’s having a renaissance.”

On conscious uncoupling:
“People are coming around. I know it’s a dorky
term, but it’s very worthwhile. I’m always the person who gets shit at first, but then later people say, ‘Hey, maybe that’s a good idea.’ I don’t mind. Once you get over the idea that you need external reinforcement to feel good, life opens up in an incredible way.”

On where she is today:
“I’ve had an extraordinary life, where things have happened in a huge way – huge success, huge joy, huge pain, huge loss. And the reason I feel happy today is because I’ve milked the fuck out of every opportunity. I haven’t made one mistake that I haven’t used as a stepping stone to get somewhere else. I’m ruthless when it comes to using the hard things.”

Fergie Has Left the Black Eyed Peas

Will.i.am recently confirmed what has long been suspected - Fergie has left the building. E! News reports that when recently asked about the situation, Will.i.am responded as follows:

"Since the beginning of Black Eyed Peas, we've always had amazing vocalists that appeared on the mic with us. People like Macy Gray, Esthero, Debi Nova, Fergie. On Elephunk, there were several females that appeared on that album. Obviously Fergie was the featured female, but on songs like 'Let's Get it Started,' it's Noelle [Scaggs], and then Fergie, songs like 'Latin Girls,' it's Debi Nova, and 'Request Line,' it's Macy Gray. We'll always work with good females.

As for replacing, what people know The Black Eyed Peas to be, nobody is replacing Fergie," he said. "She's working on her solo project at the moment, we're on this brand-new experience, celebrating 20 years of Black Eyed Peas putting out music. We worked on a bunch of songs on her solo record, we're proud that she has her label, but Black Eyed Peas are pushing it forward in terms of content, technology and experiences on our new project, Masters of the Sun."

The Black Eyed Peas have been around since 1995; Fergie joined as the lead singer in 2002.

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Avoiding the Third Actress

This blind item is about three famous actresses.

This mother and daughter are both film actors, but we’re not sure if they have ever worked together.

Mother did a film with a third actress. They got along great during filming. Mother invited Third Actress to a fun family outing so that everyone could get acquainted.

It did not go well.

"Since then, even though all three women have been at multiple events together, [Daughter] avoids being photographed with [Third Actress]."

That’s odd because Daughter normally loves publicity!

Blind Gossip Blind Item - One Hour of Laughter

This comedian pulled a stunt that was intended to be edgy and funny.

Want to know what was going on behind the scenes after the stunt went public? Of course you do!

Well, she was happy and laughing… for about an hour.

"She was thrilled that the photo was getting so much play and that it was making every publication. Some of her friends were calling her and texting her about how awesome it was. She was laughing and shouting, “Yes! Yes!” every time it was the top item on a website. She thought it was really edgy and funny and a hugely successful stunt."

After the first hour came the backlash.

"[His] fans were being unbelievably vicious and calling her “bitch” and “cunt” and threatening her with [various violent acts]. She started crying. She was really worried about her personal safety. She does not think she was wrong. She was just scared about all the threats and wanted to make them stop. That’s why she backed down."

Troian Bellisario Talks Filmmaking and Eating Disorders

Sometime Pretty Little Liars director Lesli Linka Glatter recently interviewed Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario for Interview Magazine about her new movie Feed, which Bellisario wrote and directed, and is based on her personal experiences with an eating disorder. Here are some highlights from their conversation:

GLATTER: As an actor, you're always exploring, but it's really fascinating to me that you have made that choice to be in the driver's seat. Tell me a little about that and what you've been working on.

BELLISARIO: I think it really stems from my parents telling me that if there is a story you feel compelled to share, then you are responsible for doing that. You can't ask someone else to take on that story—or you can, but you have to deal with whatever the fallout is. If the story doesn't end up being told the way you originally heard it or that you feel it needs to be expressed, that's on you. Right before I got Pretty Little Liars, I graduated and I got a job at the Geffen [Playhouse in Los Angeles] to do a production of a play called Equivocation.

GLATTER: You were the lead in that play, right?

BELLISARIO: I was the only female in it—there were four other guys—and I was definitely the youngest. It was a really intense first job and I knew that I was going to be so nervous and that I couldn't really go out and audition for other things. There was this emptiness in me that I wanted to, not fill, but engage. I felt like there was a story in me that hadn't been told, and it was a very personal story and it came from a point in my life when I felt like I had experienced something and, still to this day, I couldn't get anyone—even the people who loved me the most, even my boyfriend or my mother or my father—to understand what that experience was truly like for me. It was about my eating disorder, and I found there were so many people who thought that it was about losing weight or being skinny, and I couldn't quite get them to understand that it was about control on a very, very literal level. So I thought, "If I can tell a story that puts the audience in a position to make a similar choice to the one that I made in my young life, maybe I could get them to empathize."

GLATTER: So many people wait and don't take the active measure to go create something; they'll be more reactive. The fact that you have taken that step, as well as being an actor in other people's work, I think that's an incredible balance to strike in your storytelling career. Did people understand—did your family and boyfriend and the people around you? I remember reading the script and thinking, "This is really powerful and personal and very moving."

BELLISARIO: Thank you. They were all very supportive. They were all very afraid, which I totally understand. They'd been through hell watching me and feeling powerless themselves. And here I was saying, "Hey guys, I know that I've gone through a lot of therapy and a lot of heartbreak to make myself strong enough to live without this thing, but I'm actually going to make a movie where I go back and engage with it fully." It was not easy; it was like engaging with an addiction. One of the things I really wanted the film to explore was that once you have this relationship, once you have this mental illness or this disease, it never really goes away. Your synapses are wired in a way that you will always feel this compulsion, but as you grow older and create a healthier life and go through lots of therapy, you tend to feel more empowered when it comes to making these choices. My neural pathways were all still there and connected to the disease, so when I had to engage with the film, it was like poking a sleeping dragon. It was amazing for me to realize, "Oh god, this is still all just lying under the surface. I've just gotten really good at either ignoring it or choosing to not engage with it." But it's amazing that you can have this huge, life-threatening thing be a part of you and still live inside of you, and almost tame it in a weird way.

GLATTER: Right. And by doing that, empowering other men and women who have that same issue to be able to see it in another way.

BELLISARIO: That's what I hope, and that's why, for me, it had to be a film. It couldn't be a documentary about my own experience, it couldn't just be me telling the details of my story; it had to be a narrative that wasn't about me.

Josh Groban Ready to Date Again

Josh Groban has been performing on Broadway in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, with his run coming to a close in July. Here's what he had to say to People about the experience:

“I’ve never worked harder in my life, and I’ve never seen people work harder in my life. It’s a monk life — nothing is more important to you than giving 100 percent onstage every show because there is really nothing less fun than doing a Broadway show and not feeling good; it’s just a nightmare. Your body just tells you whether you’ve got it in you to get a drink or not, and nine times out of 10, you do not have it in you to go out. The days I’ve said, ‘Yeah, sounds fun, let me throw on my jacket,’ the next day has been rough.”

On what he'll do in July:
“Take a month off, go to the woods and unplug!”

On dating in the public eye:
“No, it’s never been a nightmare. I’ve been very lucky in love. Every relationship has pros and cons. But dating again after I’m done with the show? It’s gonna be nice to have a social life again!”

Zelda Williams Opens Up About the Grieving Process

Zelda Williams, daughter of the late Robin Williams, recently sat down for an interview with People, where she talked about how she has gotten through the last three years without her father. Here's what she had to say:

“I did have those friends who were lovely and I really appreciate when they were like, ‘Come on! Let’s go to Disneyland!’ and I was like, ‘No, not today. Having a panic attack today. But the ones who would show up and brought groceries, sat down with me and just wanted to be there, those people made a huge difference.

They helped enormously in making me open up to people so I didn’t keep it all in and kind of get to a place of going, ‘This will never not have happened.’ You have to move forward without trying to push it aside, ’cause that doesn’t help.”

On throwing herself into writing:
“Put aside the hours whenever everyone else is asleep because a lot of times, especially if you’re depressed, you aren’t going to be sleeping anyhow. I’ll write until four in the morning because it actively makes me happy and tires out my brain so I don’t go to sleep overthinking things other than potentially my own plot points from whatever I was writing that night.”

On online trolls, who were vicious to her in the wake of her father's passing:
“I don’t think your skin ever gets any thicker. I’ve never stopped letting people in, sometimes to my detriment. I’m an actress, and I think if I grew a thick skin … and kept the world out, I wouldn’t be very good at my job. I’ve just grown a different sense of humor. Trolling and bullying, especially when it comes to online, can be damaging, but it also has as much power as you give it.”

Keshia Knight Pulliam Gunning for Ed Hartwell's Pension

TMZ reports that Ed Hartwell has been allegedly skipping out on his child support payments to Keshia Knight Pulliam for their five-month-old daughter. Pulliam has filed documents with the court to have all future child support payments get deducted directly from Hartwell's NFL Pension, so he would not be able to withhold future payments. She's also demanding that a judge lock him up until he's caught up on child support.

Tori Spelling Owes Money Again

E! News reports that after missing a subpoenaed court appearance in their ongoing legal battle with City National Bank, a judge has ruled that Tori Spelling and The Deaner will have to pay a $220,000 default judgment. To refresh your memory, "Tori and Dean failed to pay $185,714 plus an additional $2,407 in interest and $681 in late charges for a total of $188,803 from the 2010 loan. Additionally, the bank is asking Tori for $17,149, which she allegedly overdrew in September and has yet to repay."

This $220,000 is in addition to the tax lien that the State of California hit them with for $259,108, and her $87,000 unpaid American Express bill. So, expect a new reality show and a slate of new crappy Lifetime movies from the couple.

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Alienating In the Name of Art

Dad is a major movie star. He knows that his success depends on bringing in the widest audience possible. Therefore, he is generally very careful with his image.

That includes social media. Instead of ranting about politics, he posts positive thoughts and uplifting messages.

Our actor has a son who, with Dad’s help, is also trying to be a major movie star.

Sonny is… different. He likes to express himself freely in his art and on social media. That sometimes results in him expressing himself in a weird or controversial way.

Dad wasn’t happy that Sonny was being negative on social media and told him that he needed to think about the impact that his negative words have. Sonny argued with him.

"He said that the thing that separates him from other people as a true artist is his willingness to not censor himself, because censoring is selling out and he isn’t going to be a sell out just to make this group happy or that company happy."

Basically, there will be no apology for going negative.

It should be interesting to watch Sonny alienate more people and companies in his quest for true artistic expression.

Robert Pattinson Ready to Leave Sparkles Behind

Robert Pattinson recently sat down for an interview with the New York Times while he was in Cannes to promote his new movie Good Time. Here's what he had to say:

On his 2012 movie Cosmopolis:
“I think it was the first time when I worked on something that was quite complex. I especially love the fact that it came out really at the height of my popularity. [That movie was] the big turning point for me — I just realized that was what I wanted to do...I think it’s so rare for something to break a pattern. I feel like almost everything in the world is designed to be predictable.”

On obscuring his looks for roles:
“Anyone can look ugly. It doesn’t take much.”

On Twilight:
“I think one of the best things, basically, about being a bit of a sellout, if you’ve done five movies in a series, you’ve had to accept some responsibility for playing the same character. [It was] an amazing luxury, amazing luck, as well, to just have fallen into it with the group of people I worked with on it.”

On almost getting fired from the first Twilight movie for acting out:
“I didn’t have to kiss anybody’s [ass] the entire time. I don’t think I did, anyway.”

On being his own worst critic:
“I can’t say that about anyone I work with, I’ve never seen anyone give themselves such a hard time. I’m beating myself up afterward. And I think there’s some weird perverted energy that comes out of when people criticize previous work or think you represent this certain thing; it gives you this energy. [I'm] almost scared of anyone saying anything I do is good.”

Zoe Kazan Talks Romantic Heroines

Zoe Kazan, star of the upcoming movie The Big Sick, recently sat down for an interview with Vulture. Here's what she had to say:

On writing her new play After the Blast (about a near future in which humanity lives underground, having fled ecological catastrophe and nuclear disaster):
“I’ve struggled with depression most of my life, and I was coming off a pretty bad bout when the idea came to me. Though I didn’t realize that was what I was trying to write about. But after I wrote the play, I was like, Oh. Okay. Sometimes the real thing I’m trying to write about reveals itself very late, even to myself.”

On The Big Sick:
“I was not looking to do another romantic comedy, but then I read the script. There have been a handful of auditions in my life where I’ve walked out feeling like, I think they’d be stupid not to cast me. This was one of those.”

On her grandfather Elia Kazan:
“Maybe this is a way of gaslighting myself, but I think of it this way: In certain circles, my grandpa was considered to be one of the seminal directors of the 20th century. I’m never going to be that. So I might as well do whatever I want.”

On continuing to write, even as she's finding success as an actress:
“I wasn’t raised in a family that cared about how you look. The fact that I have made my living in acting, where that matters, that really feels antithetical to me as a person. When my first play was produced, I had this sudden feeling that I feel powerful. Like, the next time I go into an audition room and it’s me and the same eight girls as always, I will have this thing that no one can take away from me. They can see us all as interchangeable. But I am not interchangeable."

The Comeback's Robert Michael Morris Has Passed Away

Robert Michael Morris, best known for playing Mickey Dean on HBO's The Comeback, has passed away at the age of 77. Morris worked as a theater teacher in high schools and colleges across the US, did some work off-Broadway, and guest-starred on a variety of TV shows. Michael Patrick King, who created The Comeback and was also one of Morris' former college students, had this to say of the actor's passing: “Robert Michael Morris was an inspiration to write for and to be around. His creativity was only matched by the joy and gratefulness he felt for each day he got to live his life as an artist.” Read his full obituary at Deadline.

Olivia Newton-John's Breast Cancer Has Returned

Olivia Newton-John recently revealed that her breast cancer, which she previously beat in 1992 after receiving chemotherapy and a partial mastectomy, has returned. The following message was posted on her official Facebook page:

"Olivia Newton-John is reluctantly postponing her June U.S. and Canadian concert tour dates. The back pain that initially caused her to postpone the first half of her concert tour, has turned out to be breast cancer that has metastasized to the sacrum.

In addition to natural wellness therapies, Olivia will complete a short course of photon radiation therapy and is confident she will be back later in the year, better than ever, to celebrate her shows.

'I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia,' says Olivia Newton-John."

Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau Split

TMZ reports that Vili Fualaau, 33, has filed for separation from wife Mary Kay Letourneau, 55, after 12 years of marriage. The couple first got together back in 1996 when Mary Kay was 34 years old and a teacher, and Vili was 12, and a sixth grade student. Sure, Mary Kay was married with four children at the time, but neither that or Vili's age stopped her! Two children together and one 7-year prison sentence for Mary Kay later, the pair tied the knot in 2005. Alas, their love did not last. No word on what caused the split, but I would guess that most marriages to your molester don't have a long shelf life.

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Cannes Rest

This well-known actor came to fame in a film that he did many years ago. He is in Cannes. He is happy to talk about his new projects.

Everything has been going well. Until someone dared to ask him about his most famous role.

Uh oh.

"He said something to the effect of, “Actually, I’m very excited to talk about [new film]!” but the reporter kept circling back to [old film]. [Actor] got really annoyed, put his hand over the mic, said, “Give it a rest, already!” and just walked off in the middle of the interview!"
