Popbitch Blind Item - Meat and Two Veg

Which male member of the Sex And The City cast has a sexual kink that’s worthy of a Samantha storyline? Having picked up an obliging woman in a hotel bar, he escorts her up to his room where he’ll ask her to cover his meat and two veg with an assortment of foodstuffs, gets her to lick it off – and, er… that’s it. Nothing further...

Book Talk With Krysten Ritter

Krysten Ritter just released her debut novel, Bonfire. She recently sat down for an interview with the New York Times to talk books. Here are some highlights from that interview:

What books are on your nightstand?

"I have a huge pile next to my bed and dream of days when I just pick up each one and devour them! I have a signed copy of “The Lying Game,” by Ruth Ware, which is next on deck. Underneath are copies of “The Sirens of Titan,” by Kurt Vonnegut, and “In Cold Blood,” by Truman Capote, both of which have long been on my list. I am also currently leafing through a stack of meditation books that I bought at a meditation studio I like. “Wherever You Go, There You Are,” “Zen Flesh, Zen Bones.”"

What’s the last great book you read?

"I have read a few great novels recently, but the one that stuck with me the most over the last few months is “Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine,” by Gail Honeyman. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and the entire time I beamed with joy at the beauty of this story. I fell in love with Eleanor and never wanted the book to end. I wanted so badly to keep following her journey.

I also loved “Unshakeable,” by Tony Robbins. Understanding the economy, the stock market and the world of investing is foreign to me, but Tony makes it so digestible and empowering. I really appreciate his focus on finding confidence in your own ideas and the importance of building forward momentum. I have such a crush on Tony Robbins and his passion, empathy and sheer talent."

How do you like to read? Paper or electronic? One book at a time or simultaneously? Morning or night? Do you like reading on set?

"I can’t read on set because I have too much to stay focused on. Often you hear about people on set living this “hurry up and wait” kind of work life. But for me, specifically on “Jessica Jones,” it’s more like “hurry up and hurry up.” I get to be fully immersed all day every day and it is crazy exciting! But it’s not a reading environment. On set, if anything, I’ll knit because it’s mechanical, a meditation and doesn’t pull focus from the work. In terms of how I read, I am hard copy all the way. I love having a book in my hand. There are already so many digital distractions in our lives and for me, reading on a screen and getting alerts and text messages totally ruins it. I like to read in the park, or I like to get in bed early, get cozy and get lost in a good book."

What’s the best book you’ve ever received as a gift?

"“Don’t Forget to Sing in the Lifeboats,” by Kathryn and Ross Petras. A friend gave it to me and it has been kind of life-changing. It is this little book of inspirational quotes and wisdom, and it’s such a pick-me-up to read a few pages a day. I’ve since given it as a gift a few times and I often post pages from it on my Instagram stories. People seem to love it!"

You’re organizing a literary dinner party. Which three writers, dead or alive, do you invite?

"Gillian Flynn, Hemingway, Stephen King. I feel like no one would know what to say to each other, but how fun?"

Read the full interview at the New York Times.

Katharine McPhee Has Never Felt Stronger

Katharine McPhee is on the December cover of Health Magazine. Here’s what she had to say in her accompanying interview:

What is the healthiest thing you do?

"I would say two things. I’m taking the most care of myself when I have a really strong workout. And then, when I go to therapy. It’s not as consistent as I’d like it to be, but when I make the text appointment, I feel like I’m taking care of myself, and that makes me feel like a responsible human being. And truthfully, an intense workout does so much for me mentally as well. So it kinda goes hand in hand."

Do you have a favorite body part?

"I’m really loving my abs right now. I like a move on the bench where you bend. [She stretches out her arms and legs, then does a V-up.] And the scissors are, like, crazy. It’s the knees coming in and then out that works a different part of your lower abs. But it’s really the number of reps that you’re doing it."

Are you trying to add more mindfulness to your life?

"Yeah, I’ve definitely added time to my life where I’m not at work or meeting somebody. I find on days where I’m more intentional about my quiet time, I don’t dip in and out of moods. I think that’s the whole thing about mental health—just an awareness of how you feel."

So how’s your love life?

"I’m pretty single. I had a relationship with my lead actor on my show [Elyes Gabel] that was almost two years. I still am crazy about him, and we have a really great working relationship. It’s definitely not the easiest thing to get over someone you see every day! It’s still an adjustment. But I haven’t had anything super serious since."

What are you looking for in a relationship?

"Someone’s who’s spontaneous and adventurous, who’s ready to just go do something—or let you go do it at the drop of a hat. I’m so independent now; I wasn’t really that independent when I was in my 20s, so I need to be with someone who has their own life."

What about those rumors about your dating [music producer] David Foster? His daughter Erin Instagrammed you two in September, saying, "Excited about my new step mom" and "My parents."

"So we were sitting there at the table, and she said, “Do you wanna, like, do a thing?” And I was like, “OK.” So I mean, we were in on it. She’s so funny—I mean, you saw what she wrote about "my parents." Truly, you think that’s how she’d announce it? On Instagram?"

So to sum it up, your relationship with David is…

"We’re very close friends, and we’ve been friends for a long time. I’m really, really fond of him, and I think he’s an incredible person. I’ve known him since I was 21 years old, you know? He produced my first single. So he’s been really good to me. People can say whatever they want."

Aidy Bryant On Representation

Saturday Night Live star Aidy Bryant recently sat down for an interview with The Cut. Here's what she had to say:

On crystals:
“I don’t know anything about crystals; I just go and buy these rocks. I have the most millennial crystal collection ever. I don’t know what any of them mean and I never charge them.”

On best friend Kate McKinnon's success:
“It never changed our relationship. I think maybe it’s made us closer. I’m not in a race against anyone. I probably have never been more happy in my life than when Kate won her first Emmy.”

On choosing roles outside of SNL:
“I turn down so many things, because so often movie stuff that I get sent is demeaning in some way. Characters where an entire plot point is, How could any man want to fuck me? Stuff like that, where it’s like, Well, that’s not reality and that’s psychotic and offensive.”

On self-acceptance:
“I was spending so much energy on something that really, no matter what I did, wasn’t changing. And I truly got to a breaking point. I was like, How much longer can I do this? Can I do this for the rest of my life? I finally was like, What if I put all of that energy into just trying to like myself and focus on the things I actually want to do as opposed to this thing that’s like a made-up concept? And I’m not kidding, my entire life changed after I did that. Within two years, I was hired by Second City; two years later I was hired by SNL. I stopped letting it be an all-day, everyday thing that defined everything that I did. And it worked.”

On why she is starting a clothing line:
"[I did a photo shoot for SNL where] the other girls had racks of clothes to chose from and were wearing these thousand-dollar dresses, and I had two sacks or like one matronly mother-of-the-bride dress. Those were the first times where I was like, Something is different here and this isn’t fair. This is a fucked-up situation, and it’s purely because of my body. Not because I’m less funny — it’s my body. It’s the only reason that I’m treated differently right now. And it lit a fucking fire in me.”

On the importance of representation:
“I didn’t try to get on SNL to be a body-positivity activist, but apparently just being there makes you one. It’s this weird kind of thing where you’re like, I guess I kind of am. It’s literally just not what I came here to do. It sounds so corny now, but representation does fucking matter. And I remember how as a child I was obsessed with Rosie O’Donnell even though that wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do, but I was like, Oh my god, someone who’s a little bit like me on TV.”

Survivor Stories

It’s the story we all have known was coming. I guess you really do write what you know.

Gina Lollobrigida just revealed that she, too, has been sexually assaulted. Here’s what she had to say to The Telegraph“I’ve also suffered molestation, in fact more than that, and I didn’t say anything about it at the time. I should have complained but I didn’t have the courage...The first time I was 19, I was still going to school. The second time, well, I’d rather not talk about it. I was married and I was starting out in films.”

The New York Post reports that Christopher Plummer has been cast to reshoot all of Kevin Spacey’s scenes in the movie All the Money in the World, set to be released on December 22nd.

Idina Menzel recently spoke to People at the premiere of Coco in Los Angeles. Here’s what she had to say about husband of two months Aaron Lohr:

“He’s my guy..Family, to me, means being able to be yourself, sit back on the couch and relax, and watch a movie with the people that know you better than anyone else in the world.”

And on how Lohr gets along with her son Walker, 8:
“They’re very close. They’re probably watching a film, or they run around play dodgeball with a sock, they make a ball out of socks and they hit each other.”

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Fabulous Flippers

This celebrity couple wants you to think that they are geniuses when it comes to making money.

Their latest fabulous claim is that they made millions on the sale of a home that they bought and remodeled and sold.

No.

"When you add up the amount that they spent buying the house, remodeling it, and selling it, they actually lost money on the property. The reason there were so many cost overruns is that [the husband] kept changing his mind on everything. They would finish something and then he would decide he didn’t like where the doorway was located or the flooring or how the bathroom was arranged or whatever, and they’d have to rip everything out and start all over."

Sounds like they could have actually made a profit if they had just designed a plan and stuck to it. But, as it turns out, they will just pretend that they made a profit.

They like to pretend.

Drake Wants to Be on the Big Screen

Drake recently sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where he revealed his Hollywood aspirations. Here's what he had to say:

On his first foray into acting at the age of 15:
"Obviously, everything's for a reason. I met this kid whose dad was an agent. I got the audition for Degrassi. And I started going to a school for kids with outside commitments [in the arts and sports]. I met a lot of people from a different [more economically diverse] side of the city. My friends changed at that point, and I started coming into my own and finding myself."

On feeling more at home in Canada:
"I can get in the car in Toronto and drive and go do my own thing. I know the streets. I know everywhere. I know everyone."

On his musical future:
"I'm sure I'll stop [making music] one day. When it starts to feel like I'm making it up. Hopefully I'll catch it before I ever get there, right? But right now it feels like we just started, so I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. But I do plan on expanding — to take six months or a year to myself and do some great films. Music's always there."

On his current favorite show:
"My taste in television or movies is always kind of similar to my approach to music, which is, I like when people really hit the nail on the head with real human emotions. So with Ozark, it's just the family dynamic. The arguments. The love. The struggles. I really relate to how accurate it is."

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Help Money

If you are puzzled over why these celebrities would simply give a friend a huge amount of money, this might provide a little context.

The money from the benefactors might not have actually been to help the other celebrity. It might have been to silence him!

"[The talkative celeb] was losing it. Low on cash, totally unstable, and too much airing of private issues. [His benefactors] were really worried that he would start talking about them and their “private” relationship with him. Easier to just give him some money so he’s not freaking out every five minutes and doing something stupid."

So, that wasn’t help money. That was hush money.

The New York Daily News reports that Will and Jada Smith recently gave Tyrese $5 million to help with his legal fees in his ongoing custody battle. He recently took to his Instagram to publicly thank the couple, stating: "When we show UP for each-other there’s nothing that can’t be done I️ repeat nothing...... My wife kept the news away from me cause I’ve been on with lawyers all day but our family and our sister Jada-Pinkett Smith and my brother Will Smith just sent us 5 million dollars to help keep us afloat- You’ve guys asked me to get off and stay off the Internet now that my daughters legal fees will be paid ! will listen..... The Smiths’s and their whole family has always shown up for The Gibson’s Uncle Will you’re an uncle for real..... "

Rosie O'Donnell Talks to Howard Stern

Rose O'Donnell recently appeared on The Howard Stern Show. Here are some highlights from her appearance:

On wanting the lead role in As Good As It Gets (which went to Helen Hunt):
“It was for an overweight, kind of slovenly waitress who had a special needs child. I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is gonna be me.’ I really wanted that role.”

On her new girlfriend:
“It’s the first time I have dated someone younger than me and it’s a very trippy thing. The one thing that she doesn’t know … Streisand.”

On whether or not she would get married again:
“I will not, ever. For me, being 55, I just think I would rather stay in it for love and not have to deal with lawyers if, God forbid, it shouldn’t work out.”

On getting Gastric Sleeve surgery:
"This is called the gastric sleeve so they take about, they probably leave a quarter of your stomach, the size of a banana, and they said you put your hand out that's the size of your stomach in general so mine has like a little bit… I'm 50 pounds less than I was...You only have this surgery when you're near death…I should've died. The doctor said there's no reason you survived this heart attack. We don't know why you did, we don't know how you did, you will not survive another one."

On whether or not she would save Donald Trump is he was drowning:
"I don't know that I would jump in, I might throw him a floatie…with an anchor. If he was drowning...I probably would which I hate about me. I'm such a bad hater. I don't want him to die. Do I want to him to spend the rest of his life in jail, I certainly do. And ya know what Howard here's what really gets me, sometimes I cry about what he's done to his family. I think of him as Bernie Madoff times a million."
