Courtney Love Finally Admits Pregnant Heroin Use

Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck premiered at Sundance over the weekend. Among the revelations in the documentary? Courtney Love finally admitted to using heroin while pregnant with Frances Bean Cobain. Page Six reports that Love is quoted in the film as stating, "I used it once, then stopped. I knew she would be fine." The documentary was executive produced by Frances Bean Cobain, 22, and directed by Brett Morgen.

    As I recall reading in an old interview, Kurt fell in love with Courtney precisely because she was such a pain in the ass - he liked the way she caused chaos in every possible situation. He thought it was very punk.

      Yeah I'm sure she only admits to one time. She probably can't remember knowing her. BTW I think the movie title is awful. There must be something behind it though anyone know?

      @Karen, I think it did wear thin - weren't they separated at the time of his death? The conspiracy theorists love to say they were headed for a divorce, and that's why 'she killed him.' At any rate, I'm sure he was no prize to live with, given his thorny personality and many addictions.

    I was under the impression she was using when she found out she was pregnant, and went on Methadone? I don't know where I heard that or why I thought that.

    They had an old VF interview together while she was pregnant, that she admitted to using, the authrities showed up & made her go to rehab.

    Court wanted to be famous like Nancy all her life & she got it. She surviived the drugs Kurt didn't.

    She screws for her career. Even back when in Hole, she screwed the guy in Hole who wrote all the songs, then she screwed Corigan, Manson, Reznor.

    Tori Amos has a scathing song about Courtney, that is perfection. She probably used way more than once, and just got lucky that Frances turned out okay. Looking back, I would've never guessed that Frances would have turned out as well as she did. She has a good head on her shoulders.

      Professional Widow. During that time, she had a thing against Trent Reznor, after they had a "thing". My guess is that Courtney had something to do with the breakup, despite the fact that I think he was married. He got Pretty Hate Machine from Tori's song Caught a Lite Sneeze, which was written about him.

      I'm going to nitpick a bit here, especially since I remember when all of this went down--Pretty Hate Machine came out first, in 1989; Tori's album Boys for Pele came out in 1996, IIRC, and yes, "Caught a Lite Sneeze" was supposedly about/inspired by the whole mess. Nobody involved was married at the time, and AFAIK there's still some debate as to exactly what happened, but supposedly Courtney was indeed the main factor in the breakup, and the last I knew, none of them were on speaking terms and probably never will be.

      As for the whole "doing heroin while pregnant" bit, that's very old news, and Delphine has the gist of the story; in all fairness, it does seem as if she did get off drugs during the rest of her pregnancy (I believe at one point Kurt was shooting up in the closet so as not to tempt her), and thankfully Frances was and is perfectly healthy. Lynn Hirschburg (sp?) was the VF writer, and Kurt was particularly vehement in his reaction to the story; at one point he was on the record as threatening to kill her dog in front of her and then kill her. Finally, while it's pretty well established that their marriage was in serious trouble, I've never believed Courtney had Kurt killed, for 2 main reasons: (1) as GOML pointed out, her grief seemed way too sincere to me, and (2) considering that Courtney is the queen of TMI, has no filter whatsoever, and can't keep her mouth shut even when it would be in her best interests to do so, I think it's pretty safe to say that, had she been involved in any way in having Kurt snuffed, she would have said something about it by now--there's just no way she could go this long and NOT spill the beans.

    I thought the story was she had used while she was pregnant but before she found out she was pregnant and then dealt with doctors who specialize in that kind of thing. It's funny that shes admitting that now because when the Vanity Fair article that came out (where she said basically the above) she freaked out that she had been misquoted. She has also blamed that writer this whole time for part of Kurt's death because of all the hell they had dealing with CPS

    Call me crazy, but I've never believed that Courtney had Kurt killed. When I heard her read his suicide note to the fans, she sounded absolutely sincere in her grief. I firmly believe that she - with all her craziness - kept him on this planet alot longer then he wouldn't been without her.

    I kinda thought that her using heroin while pregnant was a given. I don't see her admission as anything earth shattering. For that matter look at half the offspring of musicians out there.

    Not commenting beyond this. I know 1st hand of Ms Love, her love of H and what she'll resort to to get it. RIP Kurt and good luck Frances. Wish she'd never gotten re-entangled with the mess which is her biological carrying unit aka Courtney.
