Details From The Scientology Documentary Premiere

HBO's much anticipated Scientology documentary, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Sunday. One of the big reveals making headlines: Scientology broke up Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. LAist reports that David Miscavige didn't approve of Kidman, mostly because her father was a psychologist. And you know how Scientologists feel about psychology. Don't be glib. Kidman was labelled a "Potential Trouble Source," which I guess is one step before "Suppressive Person." The church brainwashed Cruise and Kidman's adopted children in order to turn them against Kidman, and Cruise ordered that Kidman's phones be tapped.
Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief airs March 16th on HBO.

    1. Me too. Though I think much of the contents of the film are known to those that follow the evil that is Co$, I hope the movie brings widespread attention to the church, and increases pressure to revoke their tax free status.

      Free Shelly!

  3. This sounds really juicy! Does anyone think the scientologists had anything on Kidman to make her not fight for her kids? I always had a feeling there was some major blackmailing going on there to pretty much cut the ties with the first 2 kids. At any rate, can't wait to see this one.

  4. I think the air date is sometime in March. I'm excited that this is bringing the public more awareness but I don't think there's any new revelations in the documentary. It's based on a book that came out in 2013. I haven't seen it but from what I've read so far it's not new information.

Don't get me wrong anything that helps spread the word that the co$ is an evil org I'm all for but the Kidman phone tapping and pitting her kids against her is old news. I actually feel sorry for Nicole. Katie too although I think she was more compliciant.

  7. What I truly wish is for revocation of church status. France and most of Europe has done it, why can't we. Think of all the taxes the IRS could collect.

    1. Ditto Sherry that is what I want to see and I'd like to see how they were ever granted that status. That would be a nice juicy investigation in and of itself I imagine.

  8. In re to nicoles kids, i think she was young, in shock , wanted to work, and the kids seemed to genuinely want to stay with their father, where their friends and such were. Im sure she wld do things differently now. The lids are all messed up and prob not even scietologists. Bella is in some fashion school in england, and connor is a DJ, which is code for' i have no talent or education, come watch me play records.'
This miscavage is like that jeffers guy with the mormin cult. Corrupt thru and thru and a sick manipulator of peoples lives. It goes with saying so called church shouldnt be tax exempt, and miscavage's creepy ass shld be in jail. Of course i will be watching!!!! And loving it!!!!!
Oh, and i dont think they have anything on nicole, i think she acts supportive because of her children.

    1. Only can hope they are able to find their natural parents someday

    2. Tom and Nicole are their parents. Albeit more Tom than Nicole since she was cut out of the picture.

Their biological mothers and fathers gave them up for adoption. Even if they meet, it's not like they're going to 'parent' two adults now.

  9. The only dirt I think they had on Kidman was the miscarriage I believe. They know it couldn't of been Tom's. I think Ewan McGregor was the main suspect but its never been revealed. I think she got pregnant after they separated and probably thought she couldn't after all the crap she went through with Tom. That's why I think she put it out there in that interview a few years ago. By saying it first it took the power away from them.

    1. FWIW, I heard it from a VERY reliable source WHEN it happened (long before the public knew a thing) that it was indeed Ewan's. And "shit was going to hit the fan" when it did inevitably get out. Cannot wait to see this movie!!!

  10. My Mother still says... "That whole Nicole Kidman deal with Tom Cruise was so weird."

Tom is the church's golden boy and I think they would do anything to keep him. I've always wondered if Nicole was threatened? Those people are scary crazy.

  11. How do I put this politely? When I first heard Kidman had held onto the remains of the miscarriage, I was creeped out.

Given what we've all learrned about the depths that Co$ destroys families, it's perfectly clear why she did. The DNA would prove the baby was Tom's, not Ewan McGregor's.

She might have had an affaiir with McGregor, but the baby was Tom's.

  12. I don’t think Tom has served the cult well in recent years. He's so crazy it made people more aware how bizarre it all is.

    1. @Dexamyl Tom Cruise & David Miscavige are best friends. Cruise is so far up Miscavige's ass, he'll never kick him to the curb as long as Cruise keeps pumping money into the cult & has a private jet (as does Travolta) to provide an escape out of the U.S.

Now Kirstie Alley's a different matter. Funny how she's in Florida right now tweeting her little heart out about the evils of Big Pharma in between those auditing/sec checks she's probably going thru.

  13. I'm so excited for this doc! I remember when I was in my early twenties my roommate and I went in to take their "personality test" or "stress test" or whatever they called it just for shits and giggles. We quickly regretted it. We were each sent to a separate room to fill out our surveys. When I finished mine I tried to step out into the hallway to let them know I was finished and they had locked the door from the outside! lol I started to get a little nervous when someone finally came back in and while he was talking to me about buying books and making a monetary donation I just got up and walked out while I knew I had the chance. We got phone calls and junk mail from them for 5 or 6 years after that before they finally lost track of us.

    2. @Rose I'm glad you're excited about seeing Going Clear. After what you went thru, it'll probably be jaw-dropping to you.

Don't sell yourself short. You were damn lucky. Mid-90s were the heights of craziness. When Co$ held their seminars, etc., the doors were locked & people weren't permitted to leave until they'd made some kind of large donation.

In the 90s, Co$ was also in the middle of covering up the death of Lisa McPherson. That story alone will show the absolute despicable inhumane acts & amount of power that David Miscavige wielded over everyone.

Glad you saw the scam before it was too late. :-)

    3. yeah, when it first happened Greg (my roommate) and I kept telling ourselves we were just over-reacting, but I distinctly remember looking at the outside of the door knob on my way out and telling my friend that a key was required to lock that door. There was no latch or anything that someone could've accidentally bumped, triggering the lock. It had to have been done intentionally. That really creeped me out, but at that time the internet was still in it's infancy and you really had to seek out (and know specifically where to look) to hear about the horror stories that some people went through. Neither of us had done any kind of research like that. Our thoughts of Co$ - back then - was something alongs the lines of some weird form of psycho-babble that was pretending to be a religion. I had never heard of Xenu or supressive persons or space aliens living in our volcanoes lol fuckin freaks!!

    4. Big +1 @Bluezz. I've always known that CO$ was bad news, but after reading 2 articles posted in The Hollywood Reporter (clicky 1 and clicky 2) and an article on Paul Haggis from The New Yorker (clicky 3), it's evident that those fuckers are a greedy, cruel and horrible organization. I pray that one day Beck will wake the fuck up and get far, far away from them.

    5. bluezz you never answered me the other day

the way you were so nervous over the reaction from dm and cos on sunday i was wondering what involvement you/ our husband had??

  16. I think it was the NY Times or New Yorker article that said that CO$ was worried they were losing Tom at one point and they were pulling out desperate measures to keep him on board. The whole story told by Haggis is fascinating since he made it up pretty high in the ranks which is also why he is so credible IMO and very brave.

  17. I otherwise like Kirstie Ally but when she was bullying Leah Remini on twitter for leaving CO$ I really wanted someone to ask her about how she can support a group that clearly violated human rights and rudimentary labour standards. Yeah that's really funny Kirstie. People in the slums of India have more rights than the Sea Org slaves/cadets whatever,

    1. Kirstie was on Howard Stern the other day. He went soft on her in the interview.
Old Howard would have shredded her.
Not the same since he's been on Network TV. Hell in the old days she would have been too afraid to step foot in the studio.
