Blind Gossip Blind Item - Message Peeker Is Mad

A recent peek into her messages may explain why this film actor broke up with his significant other.

"He was always proud of the fact that she was doing her own thing and making her own way in the world. At least, that’s what he thought. Then he read her messages and found out that she was using his name to get things from people. Like she would say that if they hired her, she would make sure that he would make an appearance. He finally figured out that she was using him. At first he was sad about it, but now he’s just mad!"

Kristen Bell Models Healthy Habits For Her Daughters

Kristen Bell is on the cover of Shape Magazine. Here's what she had to say in her accompanying interview:

Teach your kids a good workout ethic

"It's important to me to show my children that I care about my health and fitness enough to stay committed. So when I'm in their room with them, I'll do some squats. When they ask what I'm doing, I'll say I'm getting my physical fitness in. And because they copy everything I do, the next time they pick up a heavy bag they'll say, 'I'm getting my workout in.' It's a value I want to instill in my kids at an early age—that paying attention to your body is mandatory. Whether it's putting my sunscreen on or doing push-ups, it's not just me taking care of myself but also me helping shape my daughters."

Set your exercise intention

"I joined a yoga studio this year and bought a monthly pass, and I've been going every chance I can. I enjoy the physical and mental reset I get in yoga more than any other workout. Being in a meditative state while I'm challenging my body is ideal. I like the fact that you set an intention because there's always something that I'm working through in a day, and it helps me do that. If I have a choice, I will always go to yoga rather than sit on the couch, because I feel so much better afterward."

Eat your cravings
"I am obsessed with food! I start my day with matcha. And then, when my stomach wakes up, I order egg whites, spinach, extra feta, and hot sauce on set. I tell the caterer, 'Once you've added so much feta that you think, Oh no, I've added too much feta, double that.' As a snack at work, I'll grab a Chobani yogurt. At home, I'll pick things that are blooming in my garden—mulberries, nectar plums, blackberries. Lunch is almost always a big garbage disposal salad. I start with lettuce and add a scoop of rice, a scoop of beans, a handful of nuts, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, cucumber, strawberries, blueberries, a splash of olive oil, a squeeze of lemon, and some sea salt. It's delicious. My favorite food, though, is croutons. Any and all croutons. I don't discriminate."

Customize your carbs

"For dinner, I love pasta. Love it. But I'm a vegetarian, so I have to monitor my protein intake. There is a brand of pasta that I've been getting at Thrive Market called Banza that's made from chickpeas and pea protein. It's got a lot of protein in it—about 25 grams a serving—and it tastes like regular pasta. It's so good. What I'll do is cut up some cherry tomatoes, fry them in a pan with a little olive oil, throw the cooked noodles in, then add a little more olive oil, and maybe some ghee, and crack an egg in it for creaminess. The dish is like a carbonara, but with tomatoes and without meat, and it's truly divine. I'm telling you, this pasta has changed my life." (Try these high-protein vegetarian dinners when you want your macros without the meat.)

James Franco Talks Musk

James Franco sat down for an interview with The Cut after being named the new face of Coach's Cologne for Men. Here are some highlights from that interview:

I read you used to — well, perhaps steal isn’t the right word. But you used to sell cologne as a teenager. And now you’re the face of a new scent.
"No, I stole and sold cologne. I was caught for it. We had our cologne-stealing gang. There was a great mall called the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto. We were about 12 or 15 or so. We had our Drakkar Noir, Eternity, Obsession, and our Davidoff Cool Water. We collected them in our lockers in junior high and used to sell them at dances. There was a great need for them there. Then somebody told on us.

I wasn’t actually there when the principal came out and busted open the locker, which was stuffed full of cologne, with a crowbar. I had actually left early that week to go on vacation with my family to Hawaii. But my friends ended up protecting me. There was more cologne in my house. They cleared it all in case the cops came. We ended up having to do community service. But maybe some kids will be stealing this cologne."

Stuart Vevers mentioned he was drawn to you because of your “harmonious dualities.” What do you think of being described that way?
"I guess I’m known for a lot of different things. I’m an actor. One of the beauties of my life is that I get to embody all these different types of people and all these different worlds. The idea of dualities is just part of my job. Being an actor is about having a particular sensitivity, empathy, ability to feel what other people feel, or be interested in exploring them.

I go into all these different worlds. I can’t pin down, like, Oh, my life is this one thing. I’ve been pulled in all these different ways by my profession.

[A beat]

I feel like I’m failing you [Laughs]. I don’t know what you want."

You’re an actor and an artist. You don’t do many advertisements, although you occasionally direct them. How do you think ads relate to art?

"Long time ago, when I was in film school, I did a movie about this poet named Hart Crane. To make a living, he worked at an ad agency writing copy. He hated it. He felt like it was the polar opposite of what he was trying to do with poetry. But over time, companies and ads and ad campaigns have gotten really good at what they do. I feel like there’s less and less of a divide between advertising and art. Commercials and ads are just as good as a lot of art that we see..."

People often describe you as a “cool guy.” What does that mean to you?

"What I think is cool is people who are just present and are able to sort of engage with the world. They are not wrapped up in defensive mechanisms. They are present and not hiding. That’s what I think is cool."

Survivor Stories

In the wake of the bombshell articles that came out about Harvey Weinstein this week, more and more actors and actresses are coming forward to recount their own assaults and sexual harassment from Harvey Weinstein and other unnamed powerful men in the entertainment industry. It takes a lot of courage to come forward and share what happened, so I think it is important to share the stories of those who are brave enough to recount them. But I know that the subject matter is difficult, and not everyone is up to reading about it every day.

So Anarchy Gossip is starting a new recurring post called "Survivor Stories." Just like Kardashian Korner only goes up at 9am, Survivor Stories will only appear in the 8am slot so that the stories are confined to one post, and those who are not up to reading it can scroll past it. And like Kardashian Korner, it will not appear every day, only on days when it applies (in the short term, it will probably be going up almost daily for a little while).

In today's edition, James Van Der Beek, Kate Beckinsale, and Claire Forlani have all spoken out about their experiences.

James Van Der Beek shared the following on his Twitter:
"What Weinstein is being accused of is criminal. What he’s admitted to is unacceptable - in any industry. I applaud everybody speaking out. I’ve had my ass grabbed by older, powerful men, I’ve had them corner me in inappropriate sexual conversations when I was much younger...I understand the unwarranted shame, powerlessness & inability to blow the whistle. There’s a power dynamic that feels impossible to overcome...FTR, the harassment I tweeted about was by people 99.9% of you don’t know. 2 were charged (by others) & punished. The other has since died."

Kate Beckinsale recounted her own Harvey Weinstein encounter on her Instagram:
"I was called to meet Harvey Weinstein at the Savoy Hotel when I was 17. I assumed it would be in a conference room which was very common. When I arrived ,reception told me to go to his room . He opened the door in his bathrobe . I was incredibly naive and young and it did not cross my mind that this older ,unattractive man would expect me to have any sexual interest in him.
After declining alcohol and announcing that I had school in the morning I left ,uneasy but unscathed.A few years later he asked me if he had tried anything with me in that first meeting .I realized he couldn't remember if he had assaulted me or not .I had what I thought were boundaries - I said no to him professionally many times over the years-some of which ended up with him screaming at me calling me a cunt and making threats, some of which made him laughingly tell people oh "Kate lives to say no to me ."
It speaks to the status quo in this business that I was aware that standing up for myself and saying no to things, while it did allow me to feel uncompromised in myself, undoubtedly harmed my career and was never something I felt supported by anyone other than my family.I would like to applaud the women who have come forward , and to pledge that we can from this create a new paradigm where producers, managers, executives and assistants and everyone who has in the past shrugged and said " well, that's just Harvey /Mr X/insert name here " will realize that we in numbers can affect real change.
For every moment like this there have been thousands where a vulnerable person has confided outrageous unprofessional behavior and found they have no recourse, due to an atmosphere of fear that it seems almost everyone has been living in .I had a male friend who, based on my experience, warned a young actress who said she was going to dinner with Harvey to be careful. He received a phone call the next day saying he would never work in another Miramax film ;the girl was already sleeping with Harvey and had told him that my friend had warned her off.Let's stop allowing our young women to be sexual cannon fodder, and let's remember that Harvey is an emblem of a system that is sick, and that we have work to do."

Claire Forlani sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where she talked about her experiences working with Harvey Weinstein:
"[Farrow] didn’t mention that it was about Harvey but when I received the email I instinctively knew it was going to be. I told some close men around me and they all advised me not to speak. I had already told Ronan I would speak with him but from the advice around me, interestingly the male advice around me, I didn’t make the call. Today I sit here feeling some shame, like I’m not a woman supporting other women. I just read Mira Sorvino’s article in Time and she writes of how scared she was to speak out and participate. I take little solace in that.

You see, nothing happened to me with Harvey — by that I mean, I escaped 5 times. I had two Peninsula Hotel meetings in the evening with Harvey and all I remember was I ducked, dived and ultimately got out of there without getting slobbered over, well just a bit. Yes, massage was suggested. The three dinners with Harvey I don’t really remember the time period, I was 25. I remember him telling me all the actresses who had slept with him and what he had done for them. I wasn’t drinking the cool aid [sic], I knew Harvey was a master manipulator. He also announced to me at the last dinner I had with him at Dominic’s that his pilot knew to be on standby because he could never get me to sleep with him, to which I did what I always did, make light of the situation, a joke here or there and moved on. You see, I always thought I was a pro at handling these guys, I’d had a fair amount of experience. Sometimes I got angry, really angry. I wondered why I had Prey stamped on my forehead but this I kept to myself.

This sort of thing was something my generation dealt with, all the time. For me it started at age 14, my parents had two male friends who I trusted and adored and they were deeply inappropriate. It happened all the time when I modeled and it happened all through my twenties in the film business. For us it was something you weren’t supposed to make a big deal out of; it was sadly our normal."

Finally, Emma Thompson was recently asked about the Harvey Weinstein revelations. Here's what she had to say:

Celebrity Real Estate - Robert Duvall Edition

Robert Duvall has sold one of two West Hollywood bungalows for $1.605 million. The 1,065 square foot home, built in the 1920s, features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a guesthouse with a bathroom, and a walled and gated courtyard. See pictures of the property at Variety.

How to Travel Like Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart recently sat down for an interview with the travel section of the New York Times to talk about her travel habits. Here is some of what she takes on every trip:

Wardrobe changes
“I’m not a light packer, so I will definitely pack enough variety of clothing to cope with weather, events and surprises. I’m not embarrassed to take two suitcases. My carry-on is the largest possible that will fit into the compartment. I really love the Rimowa luggage. I’ve actually Instagrammed me with seven suitcases when I had to go out and do my show with Snoop. I had 20 wardrobe changes.”

Three iPads

“One’s just for books, one’s for TV show series, and one’s for movies. I load them up with enough movies so that I have one per day. I don’t sleep well on land so I like to watch movies in the night. I have three because I’m always running out of space. I don’t like erasing all my movies.”

Workout gear

“I take a workout outfit so I can go to the gym in the hotel, with good footwear. I oftentimes take my Pilates ring and my yoga strap and a block to do stuff in my room if there’s no gym. I work out every day when I travel.”

Food

“If it’s a long flight I’ll take some very good food that I know I’ll want to eat on the plane. I might make a delicious smoked salmon sandwich on seven-grain bread; I might take a tabbouleh salad. I take homemade yogurt with apple sauce. I try to avoid plane food most of the time. I just don’t find it very appetizing. And my hard-boiled eggs are just so much better than any eggs on the plane. They’re from my own chickens. I take them for everybody I’m traveling with.”

Soap

“I bring all my own bath things. A lot of hotels put out soaps with so much perfume; they’re awful. I wish they would do unscented high-quality soaps and things. I always bring my own soaps, like Dr. Orentreich’s silicon soap and Mario Badescu’s A.H.A. soap.”

Robert Pattinson is Back on the Market

Page Six reports that Robert Pattinson, 31, and fiancée FKA Twigs, 29, have split after three years together. A source states of the breakup, “They were almost inseparable for their first two years together. But in recent months they have really started to drift apart and have been spending less and less time together. Rob is tired of it, has called off their engagement and told friends they have split. With so much history between them, though, there are still strong feelings there. It’s a difficult situation but things have become tough between them for some time and they both know they were no longer working as a couple.” If you're in the mood for a vampire with some sparkle, the line forms to the left.

Why Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen Split

In the wake of all of the other horrible news that hit this week, this storied got buried a bit - until now. Us Weekly reports that the reason that Rachel Bilson, 36, and Hayden Christensen, 36, split after 10 years and one child together is because of a third party - Emma Roberts. Say what?! Isn't she still engaged-ish to Evan Peters?! Apparently not so much! Us Weekly reports that Bilson discovered that Roberts and Christensen were having an "inappropriate relationship" after finding texts on Christensen's phone. No word on the current relationship status of Emma Roberts and Evan Peters in the wake of this news.

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Oldie Pulls a Power Play

We’ve told you before that this discussion show isn’t as freeform as it seems. The cast is sometimes given very specific lines to say, as well as the time at which to say them.

It just happened again. However, this time it wasn’t while they were interviewing a guest. This time it was about pulling a power play to force out a couple of cast members! And, boy, did the sparks fly afterward!

"[The New Cast Member] was given a specific line to declare [Old Cast Member] the most important person on the show. [Oldie] and [a producer] gave her the line to piss off [two other existing cast members]. It was a power play to align [Oldie] and [Newbie] and to try to get the two others to leave the show."

The two other existing cast members were absolutely livid! They were stomping around backstage and yelling on their cell phones in their dressing rooms.

One of them – who seriously thought that she was due to lead the show – was heard saying that this was the last straw and she was quitting by the end of the year.

We doubt it. The last time she left the show, her career and income took such a dive that she had to come crawling back!

Krysten Ritter Gets Stronger

Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter is on the cover of Women's Health Magazine. Here's what she had to say in her accompanying interview:

On learning boxing for her role as Jessica Jones:
"I felt like such a loser the first time. I didn't know how to throw a punch—why would i? Who knows how to throw a punch? Now I do it all the time, and it makes me feel strong. It's so fucking fun. You have to focus and be present... because if you aren't present, you're going to get hit in the face."

On her favorite method of relaxation, knitting:
"If I have a moment on set, or anytime, I do this. I love it, the repetition. People call it the Secret Keeper, because it's a meditation; it relaxes your mind. After I've knitted for a while, I feel like I just woke up from a nap. And what's awesome is that then you have a product! you have something you made with your hands! My gram taught me to knit when I was little, and then I came across my old knitting tools when I was cleaning out my closets after JJ season one, and got right back into it."

On paying it forward:
"[Bryan Cranston] is one of the most generous, send-the-elevator-back-down guys I've ever met. He wants to give back so much. Like, 'I've learned this, this is what works and what doesn't.' it's rare that people share like that. That kind of hit me, and I want to do that too—when I meet somebody just starting out, or not experienced, I try to give them everything, all the tools, everything I've learned along the way."

Christina Applegate Undergoes Preventative Surgery

E! News reports that Christina Applegate recently opened up to the Today show about undergoing preventative surgery. Here's what she had to say:

"Two weeks ago, I had my ovaries and [fallopian] tubes removed. My cousin passed away from ovarian cancer in 2008. I could prevent that. That's how I've taken control of everything. It's a relief. That's one other thing off the table. Now, let's hope I don't get hit by a bus."

On whether or not she worries about passing down the BRCA1 gene mutation, which predisposes her to developing cancer, to her daughter:
"The chances that my daughter is BRCA positive are very high. I look at her and feed her the cleanest foods. I try to keep her stress levels down. I'm doing everything I can on my end knowing that in 20 years, she'll have to start getting tested. Hopefully by then there will be advancements. It breaks my heart to think that's a possibility."

On how she is feeling:
"I feel good. I keep my life really simple. I'm very fortunate right now to have that freedom to not work. I love being my daughter's mother and being 24/7 here with her, doing what I need to do, making her meals, taking her to soccer. I work at her school six or seven hours a week. I'm all in. That is my job. I love my life right now. I've been very fortunate to be able to take a minute and it's been wonderful."

Jamie Lee Curtis Was Not Asking For It

Jamie Lee Curtis recently penned an op-ed for the Huffington Post called Asking For It. Here's what she wrote:

"In the unfolding events that have seemingly rocked the entertainment business, even though so many claim to have known about Mr. Weinstein’s aggression and harassment and lecherous doings, I awoke to a statement, from an unlikely voice, that the women in question were perhaps “asking for it.”

Really?

Is this how we have evolved? Is this what the women’s movement, feminism and, more recently, the women’s march has yielded? A fellow woman, one who makes her living dressing famous women in tight, sexy dresses and one who built her empire to do her good works all over the world, would throw these brave women under the bus in a weird, mean girl version of slut shaming?

Really?

I, too, have been subjected to my own private, personal versions of sexual harassment on the job. Did I ask for it? No. What I simply asked for was a job, and what came with it was sexual harassment.

What I believe we are all asking  for in these instances, is a chance to show our talent, our humanity, a chance to express ourselves and our art and perhaps, be a part of a film that can truly create change.

Sadly, it always takes a very famous person to die from an opioid overdose to shine light on the opioid epidemic and then, hopefully, create change. We thank Prince after his tragic death; the law changed and more importantly, our attitudes.

Perhaps this grotesque power play to “get some” by this brutish thug of a man and the attempts by him, his lawyer, his board and famous friends to, once again, keep it under wraps and blame the victim will fail. Perhaps the truth will out other sexual harassment, be it from a governor or a president or a presidential candidate or studio head or movie star or executive or anyone else complicit in this billionaire boys club bullshit that will come to an inglorious end.

Cara Delevingne Out Against Harvey Weinstein

I think we can expect to see more of these over time. Model and Actress Cara Delevingne recounted her experience to journalist Yashar Ali, which he posted to Twitter:

"When I first started to work as an actress, I was working on a film and I received a call from Harvey Weinstein asking if I had slept with any of the women I was seen out with in the media. It was a very odd and uncomfortable call...I answered none of his questions and hurried off the phone but before I hung up, he said to me that If I was gay or decided to be with a woman especially in public that I'd never get the role of a straight woman or make it as an actress in Hollywood.

A year or two later, I went to a meeting with him in the lobby of a hotel with a director about an upcoming film. The director left the meeting and Harvey asked me to stay and chat with him. As soon as we were alone he began to brag about all the actresses he had slept with and how he had made their careers and spoke about other inappropriate things of a sexual nature. He then invited me to his room. I quickly declined and asked his assistant if my car was outside. She said it wasn't and wouldn't be for a bit and I should go to his room.

At that moment I felt very powerless and scared but didn't want to act that way hoping that I was wrong about the situation. When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. He asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances upon his direction. I swiftly got up and asked him if he knew that I could sing. And I began to sing...I thought it would make the situation better..more professional...like an audition...I was so nervous.

After singing I said again that I had to leave. He walked me to the door and stood in front of it and tried to kiss me on the lips. I stopped him and managed to get out of the room. I still got the part for the film and always thought that he gave it to me because of what happened. Since then I felt awful that I did the movie. I felt like I didn't deserve the part. I was so hesitant about speaking out...I didn't want to hurt his family. I felt guilty as if I did something wrong.

I was also terrified that this sort of thing happened to so many women I know but no one had said anything because of fear. I want women and girls to know that being harassed or abused or raped is NEVER their fault and not talking about it will always cause more damage than speaking the truth. I am relieved to be able to share this...I actually feel better and I'm proud of the women who are brave enough to speak...this isn't easy but there are [sic] strength in our numbers. As I said, this is only the beginning.

In every industry and especially in Hollywood, men abuse their power using fear and get away with it. This must stop. The more we talk about it, the less power we give them. I urge you all to talk and to the people who defend these men, you are part of the problem."

Welcome To Your Tape, Ben Affleck

Let's have a little chat about a different Oscar winner - actor, writer, director, and producer Ben Affleck. In light of the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein, Affleck released the following statement on his Facebook:

"I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades. The additional allegations of assault that I read this morning made me sick. This is completely unacceptable, and I find myself asking what I can do to make sure this doesn’t happen to others. We need to do better at protecting our sisters, friends, co-workers and daughters. We must support those who come forward, condemn this type of behavior when we see it and help ensure there are more women in positions of power."

Rose McGowan, Patron Saint of The Resistance, begs to differ:

Oh, but we're just getting warmed up. You see, TMZ took a deep dive into Ben Affleck's interview past. Here's what they found:

After that TMZ article came out, complete with the two videos above, he tweeted the following:

Canadian TV personality Anne-Marie Losique, featured in the second video, called up The Hollywood Reporter to say the following:
"This was for the camera. You have to understand that we have done dozens and dozens of interviews like that. It was for a show I was producing, so I was not at all a victim. When the cameras rolled, we would start to do that game. As soon as it stopped rolling, there was none of that. He never touched me in any improper way. He was very respectful, I must say...I can't say I am thrilled to have that interview mixed in with the other stories because I don't think that is at all the same thing...It has been blown out of proportion. I know that people like fishing for anything, but this is completely out of context. I would like this to not have any negative impact on him. I find it sad."
