What's going on in your world today?

  1. So. Much. Blizzard.

Watched SVU to pass the time, and aside from Olivia's bangin' hair, it has really gone downhill.

    1. Yep. Travel ban in effect and MBTA is closed until further notice.

    2. Dick Wolf needs to get the old writers back because SVU has most definitely gone down hill. They have a good cast but the plots are lame and they have Olivia making bonehead rookie mistakes. I'd rather they cancelled it than have another half assed season (I'll still watch but it's pretty lame now).

    3. @cheesegrater15, you're in the Boston area, too? The T's going to be back up tomorrow (but you probably already know that), albeit w/delays, which is hardly surprising given how things run when there isn't a bigass snowstorm to deal with. In the meantime, I've made a big pot of beef stew w/red wine and homemade bread, because you need warming comfort food in weather like this, and will try to get to bed at a decent time tonight so I can get to MGH for my PT. (Note: don't ever fall down the steps of an older Green Line train and sprain your knee; I did, and I'm telling you, don't.)

  2. I just received word that my best friends SIL is getting moved to a hospice for her last days after fighting a courageous battle of cancer. She is 36 and such fighter. She has been so strong throughout this battle. My heart breaks for this family. FUCK CANCER!

    3. @Jessi So very, very sorry to hear this. I know it's just words, but are offered up as comfort. Hospice caregivers are like angels on earth. They'll take loving care of not only your best friend's SIL, but to her family, so they can spend as much uninterrupted time with her as possible. Hugs to you.

    5. @Jessie,there are no words of solace. Cancer is such a random, vicious and inexplicable disease. The heartbreaking thing is that no,people don't "get what they deserve",because why would we lose or have lost the ones we love

    8. Thank you Rhysie, Alnl (love that name) califbondy they really are yummy. He uses turmeric in the oil and salt, he's taller than I am so unless I want to break my neck standing on a wobbly chair to reach it (it's on the top shelf) I kind of use that as an excuse to have him do it :) Put the oil on 6 on the stove for about a minute, drop in the chopped potatoes and let it work it's magic for between 10-15 minutes. Presto! Heart attack waiting to happen.

  7. Today I'm trying to decide which Chicken Tikka Masala recipe I want to attempt. I am striving to expand my skills in the kitchen and i love Indian food. I did bake some cranberry walnut oatmeal cookies after lunch. They were fabulous (they came already mixed I just baked them).

  8. Got into a debate regarding this week's Maclean's magazine headline. It is Canada's version of Time - "Canada has a bigger race problem than America and it's ugliest in Winnipeg" The article focuses on the prejudice and racism directed towards Aboriginal people. I lived in Winnipeg for years, loved it. But, there were places I would not go without my husband, including hospitals, certain stores and neighbourhoods..it's our reality, racism is deep -

  9. To GinaSz: sincere condolences for your loss.

Today is go to SanFrancisco office day. Everyone listens to everything I say, so zero privacy. The new girl pointed out what a "remarkable voice" I have and everyone agreed so it weren't too bad to be there. Left the office early and caught the 4:27 rather than the one an hour later. In other words nothing too exciting. It feels like a Wednesday though and it's not. Ugh!
