  1. You know, my jury is still out on the Cosby thing, though I'm beginning to sincerely believe the allegations.
It's the same question that always comes up in these kinds of cases - does the criminal activity he's accused of negate the value of everything he's ever done? It's a tough, tough question.
I felt the same way about Michael Jackson. Do we wipe all of his past contributions from history or do we add an asterisk?
What price do we pay for entertainment?

    1. Hi! I've been a lurker at Cdan for awhile, but I came here through the companion site because I always liked the commentators best and never saw you guys on the site when it changed. You guys are the best part of Cdan! So I followed and really like this site. Thanks Outtie :) Anyway I just can't hold out any longer with the Cosby stuff. I'll have to be vague because this was told to me in confidence but some very close family members of mine went to the university Cosby went to when he was getting his Phd, so in early 80s I think? They had a friend described as "tall and beautiful" who caught his attention. He invited her to a party and said he would try to get her a role in some movie. She went to the party but only he was there. He gave her a drink and the next thing she remembered, she was naked in his bubble bath. My family members believed her from the start and this was before any allegatons ever went public. It fits with the others and Janice Dickinson too.

Also, not related to Cosby but similar in awful truths being found out, I met Jian Ghomeshi, the Canadian radio host and musician, when I was seventeen. That was awhile ago, my friends and I loved his band Moxy Fruvous and when he went solo he toured in my town. He was behind me in line for the bathroom at this small venue and I didn't know he was there and being 17 I was jumping around and he said, "you seem antsy or excited." I turned around and in my head I thought "Omg" but blurted that I really had to pee and ran in to stall as soon as the person inside got out. Later I saw him after the show and he was nice but hitting on some college girls pretty hard core. It was a funny story until all his allegations came out and I believe them. It's just depressing when the gossip or meetings of your celebrities turn sour finding out they just aren't as great as you thought.

I wish people wouldn't equate Cosby with Dr. Huxtable. @Kno it's hard to get past watching knowing all the bad, But The Cosby show is done and over now, it should be enjoyed for what it was, a fictional tv show.

    2. Welcome, gingercoconut! (I'm trying to visualize a ginger coconut)
You're right about the fictional TV show. I think it'll be a while before it's back in circulation, though. Although, now that I'm thinking of it...I wonder why Bill Cosby made Dr Huxtable an OB/GYN instead of a pediatrician or a cardiologist or....any other specialty. I'm thinking too much.

  4. What is a really sad and the fact is one women did finally speak out, the woman who sued him, but even then it wasn't registereding, by no one speaking out, his list of victims may indeed by long and large and if I were a victim this would bother me now, same with Jian Ghomeshi but we understand why women don't come out - did you hear about the asinine questions Don Lemon was asking one of the victims on CNN yesterday? Like why didn't you just bite down if he was forcing you to perform oral sex?

    1. I live in Jerry Sandusky's state. The fact that there has to be X number of victims come forward before anything is taken seriously is awful. Then again, how many lunatics accuse celebrities every day that we never hear about...because there aren't any other alleged victims to corroborate. It's complicated.

  5. I'm all for canceling his shows for a good long while because otherwise that $$ is going straight into Cosby's pocket and I for one don't care to finance his defense or lifestyle. I grew up watching ALL of the Cosby shows. His variety show in the 70's and the Huxtables & A Different World. I even own probably 10+ of his early comedy records (on vinyl). I grew up with Bill's comedy but there's just no way I'd watch that now if it puts $$ in his pocket. Maybe if he donated his royalties to women's abuse shelters or something like that.
