Bill Cosby Special Pulled

Netflix had planned to premiere a new comedy special, Bill Cosby 77, on Thanksgiving. Due to the prevalence of the allegations against Cosby, Netflix has pulled the special. NBC is still in development on a new Cosby series slated to premiere in Fall 2015, but this move by Netflix puts increased pressure on NBC to make a decision about their series' future.

...and NBC has cancelled the Cosby project.

  1. Does anyone think he is completely innocent?

  2. This shit just got real.

I haven't chimed in on the recent Cosby hoopla. But it is quite disappointing for me, because I always respected him and I always liked his focus on education and his efforts to help people born into poverty to find a better way of life. Ah well. This is why I try to never idolize celebrities.

    1. Honestly, I haven't been reading about it (the denial is strong in certain aspects of this one), so I don't know what to think.

Guess I better ovary up and research this.

  3. tallulah - He has admitted in the past about extra marital affairs, so no I do not think he is innocent. I saw a headline on my Comcast account earlier that Janice Dickenson was making some claims but that broad is bat-shit crazy. I need to really sit down and read about this. Not the tidbits on the CDAN clusterfuck of blogs. (Although, I am glad this blog exists, Outtie. No disrespect. LOL)

    1. I believe her...her story was very similar to the other stories. He seems to have an M.O. for drugging girls and raping them. And even if her story was made up, there are at least thirteen other women who have spoken of this and probably more to come forward.

It's so disappointing. I used to love watching the Cosby Show and I won't be able to look at it the same way.

    2. A lady was in my shop, and was all excited about going to see his art at the Smithsonian. I wanted to ask her what she thought of the allegations, but decided against it.

  4. I'm wondering if some medical claim will come out about him, like dementia or something.
I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

    1. I thought the same thing, but that would only excuse recent situations. It wouldn't be a good excuse for those that happened 5+ years ago.

  5. Just read that Janice Dickinson wanted to write about this in her tell-all autobiography but Cosby's lawyers squashed it. I am going to be reading about this all night after work and decorating for Christmas. May not get back to this until midnight. God, life just gets in the way of my online gossip!

  6. I don't think he is innocent. There are too many similar stories. I think some of these woman didn't come forward until now because 1) they didn't think anyone would believe them 2) they didn't want their name/history used against them 3) they knew Cosby had Hollywood power to blackball them and 4) they were talked out of it by law enforcement (or others).

As for Janice D, she may be batshit crazy, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. If it is proven she wrote about it 10 years ago, and the publisher took it out, I give more credence to her story.

Prior to this I've been a fan.

  7. Well, I would say his career is in the crapper.

  8. I think Lisa Bonet needs to weigh in. I've always had a bad feeling about Bill doing something to her.

Oh, and I think he's guilty and I believe Janice even though she is batshit crazy.

    1. @Califblondy, it would be very interesting to hear what she has to say. Remember she bolted from that show quickly.
Was a different world on before or after she left the cosby show?

    2. I remember reading that Lisa Bonet would never be involved in any reunion thing with Bill Cosby. It just struck me as odd. Also, a while back I was watching an old episode and the vibe between the two of them was so creepy.

I think Diff World was after?

      Delete
    3. I think a Different world was when she bolted, he was still involved and she didn't last long. It'll break my heart if all this is true because I grew up wishing he was my dad cause at the time my own dad was a drunk asshole.

  9. It's like the Tiger Woods and Jesse James cheating scandals. When the first one or two women come out, you think maaaybe there's a chance it's not true. But when the number of women coming forward reaches double digits, there's no chance it's not true

  10. I have to believe that 16+ women, all with amazingly similar stories are telling the truth. I slways thought he had a nasty side. Im sure he considers these ' affairs', even tho the wonen were unconsciencous. Im going with my sisters on this, and the hell with him.

    1. Dereck-doubt it because he doesnt think he's done anything wrong!! He'll just play the victim card. Hes already on his high horse about how he wont even dignify these charges with a statement. Where hv we heard that begire? Oh yeah, from every sexual predator ever!!!

    2. he's too arrogant to top himself. sad I liked that show....

  12. Did Netflix release any statement?

My personal opinion is that these women are telling the truth, and that he is a POS.

However, in principle I'm not comfortable with a persons career, entertainment or otherwise, being yanked from under them based on allegations.

    1. I thought about that too and have a theory. In 1997 his son Ennis was randomly murdered in cold blood one night while changing a flat tire. I think sympathy for the Cosby family over that tragedy may be why no one came forward until now.

      Delete
    2. Good point Maxxy. He may say that his son's death unleashed his demons. I haven't paid attention to the dates of all the claims, but are most of them from before or after his son died?

      Delete
    3. His demons were already out right about same time Ennis shot, he was being blackmailed for money by his possible daughter, autumn something, whi was then 20. Cosby said had rendezvous with girls mother but not sure if he was the father. So those demons were already out.

    4. Lace I'm not sure either, but I do know that Janice is saying her assault occurred in 1982 and I found this timeline of events ranging from 2005 to the present, so it seems he's been at it for 30+ years, and I can't even...

      Delete
    5. It was a fairly lage story years ago, but somehow lost steam. I think maybe because the accusations don't jive with people's memories of him. I remember reading about it.

Also, someone found footage from the 60's wher, in a standup routine, he joked about drugging girls with Spanish fly and assaulting them. Funny guy.

  15. I tend to believe crazy Janice also... she remembered he was wearing a 'patchwork robe' you would think this is something his wife would know if he ever had... but obviously she is not interested in getting the truth out there, as it appears she has helped him deny all these years & stood by him. Gross. I love the Cosby Show, and my heart broke for their family at the death of his son Ennis, but think Bill himself is a predator & a piece of shit.

  16. Bill Cosby always pinged my *skeevy* radar and I never could understand why.

    ReplyDelete
  17. @mynerva Nobody should be comfortable with that happening, but at least the entertainers have the money to make this stuff go away before too much damage is done. Most normal people accused of this same stuff would be in jail as soon as the story came out and in prison before the end of the month. Remember how Tawana Bawley ruined those cops lives and that college girl ruined those (was it Rugby?) players lives with fake stories? Both the cops and the players were convicted by the press as soon as the allegations came out with only a few people coming out later to admit they were wrong when their lies came out.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Good point Rowdy. I think something similar could have happened if the cop wasn't wearing a wire and the office hadn't taken a picture of the actress having sex with her boyfriend in Hollywood.

What makes this case different than those is the large number of woman making similar claims.

I posted a response to you a week or so ago but it was late, so you may not have seen it. Anything transpire with your neighbor that helped you with your Halloween costume?

    2. Agreed, it's the number of women and the consistency of their stories that make me think this is true. And undoubtedly NBC and Netflix would be demonised if they did nothing.

    3. Also poor Richard Jewel who found the bomb at the Olympics. I hate myself for believing the press and assuming he was guilty.

  18. I don't want to believe this, but it's snowballing so fast now. :-(

Centric is still running The Cosby Show reruns. If they pull it from their lineup soon, then... ::shakes heads sadly::

    Please don't anyone jump me.

It's not that I think the women are lying. It's just that I'm old enough that I grew up as Bill Cosby gained his fame. Mr. Bluezz was stunned when I told him the other day. He's gonna be crushed now that a man he admired (not idolized) his whole life is probably guilty.
But, regardless, we'd both want Cosby punished for preying & drugging women.

This saddens me so much, but the truth has to come out.

  19. I would feel bad for everyone else who was in The Cosby Show if it gets pulled from the air. Don't they still make money from that? I felt bad about the rest of the cast too when 7th Heaven got pulled. Not their fault but they are being punished!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I could be wrong but I suspect Bill is the only one making bank off of those reruns.

Let's keep in mind all the rabid people that wanted to impeach Bill Clinton for consensual sex (outside his marriage). I think Cosby has been a privileged predator for years with his money and "wholesome image" to make it go away (until now).

  21. He did it

15 women have come forward with similar stories

I'm sure he thought he got away with it

  22. What hasn't been mentioned here, is that in 2006, Bill Cosby settled a civil lawsuit with a woman named Andrea Constand. She had 13 women willing to testify.

    From a CNN story:

In January 2004, Andrea Constand, then a 31-year-old staffer for the women's basketball team at Temple University, Cosby's alma mater, was at the comedian's Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, home when Cosby provided her medication that made her dizzy, she alleged the following year.

She later woke up to find her bra undone and her clothes in disarray, she further alleged to police in her home province of Ontario in January 2005.

  23. &Surfer. Glad you commented with this. I've been wondering the same thing, why folks seem to have forgotten that.

And, WENDY WILLIAMS spilled tea today about her dealings with him after she had discussed that case/and allegations on her morning radio program years ago. She said Cosby called the station manager and demanded that they fire her immed, and also the mgr called her in the office with Cosby on speaker phone and he yelled at Wendy calling her every name in the book. (Her mgr was ruled up about it all but Wendy didn't get fired. HAHA!)
Wendy is going to talk more about Cosby on Friday - but she said that was her only experience with Cosby.
Even this sounds like a different guy than we all thought he was.

I think the initial lady brought this out (again) to make money. But I also think he did this to these women.

  25. I absolutely believe the allegations against him are true. There are too many women saying the same thing. One you can kind of wonder and maybe doubt, but 15 + is too many for it to be anything but the truth.

  26. Aw, hell yes. That Wendy Williams gossip is maj. I need to watch that tonight.

Agree about the Richard Jewel comparison BUT these claims aren't out of the blue. That shit that went down in 2004-06 is shady as all get out. I remember reading about it quite a bit in the Philadelphia Inquirer (Cosby is a bit of a king in Philly. The whole Temple grad thing) and then poof, it just went away.

OK. Off to decorate my banister. Cee Kay - I know, I know. This earliness is loco, but the number of holiday responsibilities that exist in my world is insanity. And my husband is going to be away for work for TWO WEEKS in December. I'm organizing two piano recitals for my students and hosting Thanksgiving din. I just gotta get it done!! LOL.

I am so thankful for this blog. Honestly, it is one of my Thanksgiving blessings this year. The demise of CDAN has caused me such dismay!! I'm so glad all of you are here.

    1. Susan I agree the Cosby thing has reached critical mass. I don't think he is innocent. The Jewel memory was prompted by what Rowdy posted. It's come into my mind many many times over the years and I never had a chance to apologize for it. I'll feel bad forever. Karma is real.

Fortunately I won't miss the shows because I never watched them. Was doing other stuff.

I thought about Lisa Bonet too. I wonder if there are NDA's involved?
