Richard Gere Divorce Drama

Despite splitting in 2013, Richard Gere and Carey Lowell have not yet finalized their divorce. According to Page Six, Gere has an estimated net worth of $250 million, and Lowell hopes to gain $100 million of that in the divorce. Gere earned $82 million in 2013, and his Hamptons estate is currently on the market for $47.5 million.

  1. Who gets custody of the gerbil?

  2. I'm confused. I know he is still acting, but I assumed his biggest earning potential was behind him. How did he earn almost a third of his wealth just last year? He only did one film (Movie 43) last year. He must have large residuals coming in on past projects.

    1. That was my first reaction too. $82 million in one year?? That's Oprah money.

  3. She deserves it.

I remember a story about him belittling Cindy Crawford because her vocabulary wasn't what he thought it should be (he basically called her stupid). And then wasn't there a story not that long ago that he keeps in regular touch with her and considers her a friend?

He's always impressed me as a sanctimonious ass.

    2. Well cindy does come off as stupud, and i dont think she cares. Of course not very good of him to use it against her. After all, he married her.

    3. Gere spoke at a small fundraiser I attended some years ago and came off as a real jerk - joking that he was only there because his agent (a supporter of this cause) made him do it, which didn't sit well with the rest of us there who truly believe in the cause and bust our butts to support it,

So, Karen W, I don't know so much about the sanctimonious part, but I can attest that he is indeed an ass.

  5. He has a very chi chi bed and breakfast in the Hamptons worth 50 million. Plus maybe good investments. He seems like a smug ass this doesn't surprise me it surprises me he didn't get a prenup. Carey Lowell lawyer should remind Gere rather publicly his Buddhist beliefs of not coveting possessions and give a big ol shout out to the dali lama.

    Where's Lady H???
    Where's ma boo??

  8. That is the way the division of assets go 50 - 50 except in very very rare circumstances. Did Richard get married without a prenup, now who is stupid? Yeah Cindy is so stupid she has a vast business empire.

  9. I never though of Cindy Crawford as dumb. I think she was her class valedictorian and was studying to be a lawyer or engineer or something before her career took off.

Truly smart people don't feel the need to throw big words around to show off their intelligence (hello Ashley Judd!)

  10. There's no way that's right - maybe $8.2 million with the all-important decimal point. Or maybe he unloaded on some staggering real estate before the divorce. But I just don't believe it. Man hasn't had a hit in 10+ years and has never been a solo draw!

    1. Agree Zach - no bed and breakfast pulls in that kind of $$$ no matter how chi chi.

  11. His calling Cindy stupid was probably a made up story as was the gerbil thing. I read that Sly Stallone put that around out of jealousy. I wonder why they split, he and Carey that is?
