Reality Trots Out the Remakes

The Hollywood Reporter has an interesting article about how even reality television is not immune to remakes. As reported earlier this week, The Osbournes are coming back for new episodes, and Fox is bringing back Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader. But the most interesting tidbit is that NBC is reviving Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, not with Robin Leach, but with Nick Cannon as the host!

  1. Lifestyles without Robin Leach?! It will hardly seem the same without the British accent

  2. I don't suppose they'll keep the "Champagne wishes and caviar dreams" catchphrase.

  3. I loved watching Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous! Anyone else see Robin Leach on Wife Swap? He and his wife truly live by the motto 'Champagne wishes and caviar dreams!' It looked exhausting.

  6. Lifestyles wouldn't be Lifestyles without Robin's British accent, and forget Nick Cannon.

The Osbournes could be fun, but I'm so over Kelly...

    1. The Osbornes were kind of sad the first time around. I liked watching it but I felt bad about Ozzy. Now that he's older I think it'll be even sadder to see. Unless he's in great shape, which I doubt he is.

Gotta admit it: I like Nick Cannon.

    2. I don't dislike Nick, it's just that he'd be my last choice for Lifestyles of all things. Robin was perfect. Given the subject matter, I think it requires a more mature, worldly man with an elegant foreign accent to pull it off well.

    3. I definitely see that point. Who can we come up with that would be better? I'm brain dead and can't think of anyone good!

    4. @Sugar Stephen Collins!!! He hosted Property Envy on Bravo. He would be perfect!

    5. Child rapist Stephen Collins? That one? The one who molests children?

    6. Not sure either, but if I was in charge I'd be inclined to let Robin pick his successor.

    7. Oh, I see now that I've googled. Different Stephen Collins. How unfortunate for him.
I didn't think you were truly offering up a child molester but didn't know of another Stephen Collins!

  11. There are several people who are just everywhere for no apparent reason. THAT's a mystery I'd like to see solved.

  12. I'll watch The Osbournes but reality TV is completely different now. I just watched Queer Eye and the first season was so silly and magical. Each season got more and more planned out but things were fun when reality TV was brand new and it really was just fun, exciting people being themselves. I love Ozzy but it won't be the same now.

  13. I loved Queer Eye.

I like Nick Cannon okay, but I don't think he's a very good host. His smile is forced and he really doesn't seem comfortable talking to people.

  14. At least he's not sitting on his ass going after half Mariah Carey money. Damn if you do damn if you don't. We're still in a recession ya'll gotta have money Coming in from as many places as possible. I have more respect fore him going out there and getting jobs than going after Mariahs money. It's people like Renee zelwegger who just rely on one stream of income and end up in your 40s and have to start selling off your property because the 1 stream of revenue you depended on dried up. Nick made a ton of money when he was younger and blew it all being stupid and went practically bankrupt and said he learned his lesson and will never be that stupid again. .portfolio diversification is the key to financial freedom.

  15. People who want you to watch them aren't worth watching.

  16. Renee Zellweger has just been named the #1 top earning actress in the world. The American actress has an estimated net worth of $145 million. She owes her fortune to smart stock investments, substantial property holdings, lucrative endorsement deals with CoverGirl cosmetics. She also owns several restaurants (the “Fat Zellweger Burger” chain) in Washington, a Football Team (the “Katy Angels”), has launched her own brand of Vodka (Pure Wonderzellweger - US), and is tackling the juniors market with a top-selling perfume (With Love from Renée) and a fashion line called “Renée Zellweger Seduction”. Maybe Nick could take some pointers from Renee.

  17. They need to get somebody like Ross Matthews or Tim Gunn (he'd be better). Someone with some over the top style.
