  2. Cold here (weather wise and fever wise). Getting ready for work where I thankfully don't need to be around people. I like people but don't want to make anyone sick. Just finished talking with a nutso friend who wants me to move with him and his gf to Montana to be a part of some survivalist compound because the government is whack, yo. THEY ARE HOARDING WATER. Or something like that. I had to let him down gently. Zero interest in being a part of Waco v 2.0

    2. I have a dear friend from Waco :) I would have just said "That assface Koresh" but Waco is what most folks remember. Absolutely no offense intended. <3

  4. Ok so some of you may remember me from CDaN and may also remember that I have four daughters. Four daughters with long, thick, curly hair. Daughter #2 comes up to me last night and says, "When I was taking a shower I found some bugs in my hair." Me: "Are you fucking serious?!" ALL FIVE OF US HAVE LICE. Including me. I hate life.

    1. Both of my kids had lice last year and I had to do load after load of laundry for 13 hours straight. And I was sober for 11 of those hours. It sucked!

    2. oh no!! that is horrible :( I remember when I was in my early teens (late 1980's) I went on a mission trip to Mexico with my youth group and we all came back with head lice. NOT FUN. You have my sympathy!!

    3. Ugh! That sucks!. I have three daughters and went through it once, i get the shivers just thinking about it. I'm sorry!!!

    4. If you are going to treat it yourself use tea tree oil. It works better than the OTC stuff.

My daughter and I had it 6 years ago. She got to sit in the special reading chair at school and her reward was bringing home lice! We hired the "lice lady" who spent hours with the tiniest comb (Stuart Little size) combing out every last little bugger from our heads. If you are not patient and have hours to do this, I'd hire someone.

    5. Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! @All Lace ... I called the one service we have here in Wisconsin and they never called me back. Although after picking through 5 heads, I now may hire myself out as a Lice Lady! I'm using the Nit Nanny line of products which has tea tree oil in it. It's very oily but not as pungent and chemical-smelling as Rid.

    6. See the bright spot and a new career! I totally feel you @chopchop, we had the great lice infestation 8 years ago. I burst into tears at Target, and my son was acting like a bafoon at the grocery store parking lot, and I kinda called him a dickhead. Not my best Mommy Moment LOL

    7. I was about the empathise about the bug until I read it was lice! Curly hair problems - I had a beetle in my hair and only realised because I was playing with my hair and I touched it.

  7. Thinking about Thanksgiving coming up a week from today. Both my parents and my s.o. parents are deceased, so no family. When asked today what we're having for Thanksgiving dinner, I thought "Why spend hours making dinner that we'll eat once or twice and then it sits in the fridge until it starts to grow fuzzy green stuff on it?" I'm thinking corn dogs....

    1. @Karen - my partner and I don't really do the traditional Thanksgiving either. I don't have the foggiest idea how to cook a turkey. This year I'm gonna make a potroast in the slow cooker and maybe a few side dishes just for the hell of it. But my favorite part of Thanksgiving - a tradition I started almost ten years ago is getting up in the morning and watching each season's Thanksgiving episode of Friends :)

    2. @Rose, my must-have dish is Buttercup Squash Pie. It's excellent. Much tastier, I think, than pumpkin. Corn dog and buttercup squash pie. That's my plan. And then a nap to recover from the exhaustion!

    3. My sister-in-law suggested fondue for a non-traditional Thanksgiving and I'm ALL OVER THAT! I love dipping food in other foods!

    4. Me too! I've made it from scratch, but I love the packaged stuff. And minimal cleanup too.

    5. @Karen, you can do what we do for Christmas dinner. He hit the local chinese food buffet! Sounds crazy but we love it. And it is loads of fun going against the grain.

This year we are brining chicken breasts and doing the usual stuffing, potatoes and a veggie, with lots of fun snacks and desert.

    6. @Rose Lizenberg - Don't forget the Thanksgiving episode of Cheers!

  8. I'm so pissed at some inconsiderate co-workers right now. I know my BP is through the roof. Why do I even care? Ugh.

On the bright side, I had a chocolate cookie with chocolate chips. So, I guess the day isn't a total cluster.

  9. A friend of mine shaved the side of her head Demi Lovato style a month ago and now she's freezing all the time. Even when sitting in warm coffee houses.Flying home next week is not going to be fun for her.

  10. I have food poisoning. I never go to restaurants or eat take away for this VERY reason (and i'll admit although I'm in recovery from anorexia I still have issues with certain foods) but alas I went out to eat Tuesday night, nice restaurant...FOOD POISING! :/ so while I stay home and close to the loo I did some online shopping and bought an exquisite leather purse to ease the pain :)

  11. For lunch we had sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and butterfly shrimp. Hi light of the day.
The first year Mr. Min Pin and I were married, we ordered 2 turkey dinners from Luby's on Thanksgiving. Drove over, picked them up (they were packed) and took them home for our dinner. That was fast, easy and they were excellent.

    3. I just think it's amazing how the President has been disrespected over the last few years. Not just Obama, but even Bush. I agree no matter what your belief in politics, respect the office!

    5. CBS has to air that nerd show and Assface Kutcher's last few episodes. No way ABC is gonna pre-empt Shondra and NBC - what the hell does NBC even have they can't air the president's speech? Parks and Recreation doesn't start until January.

  19. Stupidly on day 2 of mega cooking spree to take to my mummsy this weekend, who's been sick. Stupidly, it is 30+°c, & our aircon needs fixing. Still, I love cooking (for others). Later going to ride around with hubby on his last bus run, then go out for a beer. Such an exciting life!

  20. Oh, and I was flicking through the wishing books (catalogues) on the couch in shorts. Felt something under my thigh and it was a freaking creepy albino snail. I screamed the house down and scrubbed myself raw in the shower. Mega ew.
