Shoshanna Getting Divorced
Page Six is reporting that Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss and her husband, Josh Gruss, are getting a divorce. Shoshanna is a successful designer, but she may be best remembered for dating Jerry Seinfeld. At the time that they dated, Shoshanna was 17 and Seinfeld was 38.
And Jerry was given a pass on this. I don't think it would shake out the same way if it happened now.

ReplyDeleteI've been feeling like Seinfeld was slightly skeevy since then. Why was a 38 year old man "dating" a 17 year old girl? Yeah, that's not cool.
ReplyDeleteI remember they dated but didn't realize the age difference was so huge. Gross! And yes, I would think it be just as icky if if was a 30+ woman with a teenage boy.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that she's best remembered for dating Jerry Seinfeld. She has a double major and is the first ever style director for Elisabeth Arden, in addition to her fashion lines and philanthropy.

Her clothing line launched almost immediately after she stopped dating him (for 4 years). I definitely remember that it was at least widely known conjecture that Seinfeld had funded her.

DeleteSeriously, she's the bee's knees. She decided on a career in fashion and instead of glomming onto Jerry's name, she went to work a lingerie factory and learned it from the ground up. Dad gave her a loan to start her business - and her business isn't being Mrs Seinfeld and hiding spinach in brownies. :D
I thought she also came from money? They met when she was in HS but dated thru most if not all her college years. She didn't sign on with him for the money. She went to college and started her own business. At the very least she's driven and not pulling a Miranda Kerr.
DeleteOh, I know that's what's published, @7 (her father funding her), but I just don't believe it. So maybe other people that remember that gossip will always connect her with Seinfeld, no matter what.
DeleteI just realized I spelled Elizabeth Arden wrong - whoops! I was talking to someone this morning who spells her name Elisabeth.
DeleteHer dad was the CEO for (and you'll love the irony) a company that specialized in IT services - including gathering and optimizing information for website owners like E. She definitely wasn't poor, but she didn't capitalize on Jerry's name to pave her way.

if i remember correctly jerry went to her dad and respectfully asked permission to date his daughter and promised to treat her right. they were together for something like 7 years and were the cutest couple on the red carpets. i still remember the green dress when i think of them

DeleteI would hazard a guess that Stella McCartney got her position in the industry due to her dad's name. I don't think there are too many people in the design industry that were broke nobodies who made it on their own. Lauren Conrad, Avril, Gwen Stefani, the Olsen twins, Nicole Richie etc etc etc.
ReplyDeleteAs far as age differences goes, Paul Walker was dating a very young girl (he started dating her when she was in highschool and he was around 38 too). I remember hearing about that after he died and wondering about that. It seemed skeevy to me (and I like Paul but...).
I didn't realize shoshanna the designer had any sort of backstory, so to speak. She has some really cute dresses I've rented on rent the runway.
