Andy Cohen Recalls Barbara Walters Insult

Andy Cohen stopped by the Meredith Viera show yesterday to talk about his new book, The Andy Cohen Diaries, in stores now. One of the stories that made it to the book was the time that Andy co-hosted the View, and unintentionally called her old on the air! Barbara Walters was highly displeased, but Cohen apologized by sending flowers the next day, and all was forgiven. Andy also recalls some of his more high-maintenance Clubhouse guests, including the night when Mariah Carey showed up late to the taping and insisting on sitting in his chair.

    I like the low budget set Derek. Andy refers to it as the club house after all. I think it makes people relax and the alcohol doesn't hurt either.

    I'm puzzled why he is comparing his book to The Andy Warhol Diaries. The books couldn't be more different.

    Warhol made trenchant, incisive (and often unflattering) observations about his famous friends. He literally lost friends posthumously; Bianca Jagger actually tried to sue the estate for libel.

    Cohen has written a sort of book-length "society" column along the lines of Suzy: a sycophantic and self-aggrandizing Valentine to his B and C list friends, and some A list acquaintances.

      I loved "The Warhol Diaries". Great book. Still have it on the shelf. Your observation is great. I don't watch any of that RH crap, and I don't think Cohen has any real substance with regard to intellect, character or talent. Wonder if he sucked his way to the top...

    Seriously, @lotta! I didn't see the show but having to apologize for insinuating babs is "old" is like apologizing for saying Charlie Sheen is "rebellious"

    dex.. andy cohen said in a previous interview he was inspired by andy warhol's diaries and that's why he kept a diary for a year and wrote his book. he said he obviously doesn't compare himself to warhol but that they are both named andy and that i was a play on words from his book.. he is aware he is no warhol,,,lol...

    I guess Babs just didnt want cohen saying actual word "old" outloud, even tho she doesnt even see her reflection in the mirror anymore, lol. As for mimi, i really cldnt be bothered with her booze addled antics, and if course that is one of hundreds of reasons i am not a talk show host, lol
