I guess julieann moore, patricia arquette and that guy in jazz movie who was nean teacher. Tbh, i am not overly interested in oscars, and havent been for years. And i dont care whos wearing what or why.
I think the Best Picture race is the most interesting. The New York Times ran a piece today saying that, based on a Google Survey, the clear leader among the popular vote was 'American Sniper', with 42%. I don't think it has a snowball's chance, however. 'Birdman' was about a neurotic actors and Hollywood is full of neurotic actors, so my money's on that one.
I read an interesting article yesterday about best picture predictions. Here's the money quote IMO:
"Director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu has quite the technical achievement on his hands and nudged a performance out of Michael Keaton that might and should win him a Best Actor trophy. If “Birdman” wins the ultimate prize, it will be the third film in four years about show business to do so (“Argo” (2012), “The Artist” (2011)).
Self-involved much, Hollywood?"
I never thought about it, but it is indicative of the way Hollywood thinks about itself.
I hope Keaton wins Best Actor. I hope American Sniper wins Best Picture (but it won't).
Incoming News: Harris Wittels, one of the producers behind NBC’s Parks and Recreation, was found dead at his Los Feliz home Thursday afternoon of a suspected drug overdose. He was 30.
I prefer the Golden Globes, where they get drunk and schmooze with the little people who are TV actors. Oscars are too uptight. I will watch, but change channels once Walking Dead comes on. I am rooting for Michael Keaton, Patricia Arquette and JK Simmons. I love Julianne Moore so I think she deserves a win too.
My money's on Birdman, too. And I completely agree that are way too many awards show. There should only be the big four. Come on, it's not like their egos need to be massaged anymore. Some stars' wiki pages list the most inane awards like they're something to brag about. The "Podunk Ohio Film Festival Best Picture Featuring A Pigeon".
UNRELEAVED BOREDOM. And a thirty minute in memorium section.
The DISABLED rule is in effect (Julianne, Ferret Face Boy). Johnny Belinda, Three Faces of Eve, Forrest Gump, my left foot, Marty, etc al.
No nuns (Sarandon, Jennifer Jones, Bergman, young, hepburn r past winners) and no hookers(Fonda Klute,is Buttery 8,Shirley Jones, Mira sorting, Marsha mason r past winners) so it's looking like a great year for disabled.
No priests for the men (Tracy, der Bingle, Barry Fitzgerald as past winners) so disabled holds.
Am I the only person not in love with Julianne Moore? I'm sure she's great in the movie (I haven't seen it), but her facial expressions drive me crazy and she is pretty much the same in everything.

ReplyDeleteJust reread above- i am really debbie downer, lol
DeleteAgree - what other occupation is so self-absorbed and self-congratulatory? Never watch these shows.

Julianne Moore - best actress, Patricia Arquette - supporting, Keaton - actor, Simmons - supporting, Boyhood or Grand Budapest for best picture.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, who I think will win and who I'm rooting for are not the same. I always root for the underdog.
I hope Michael Keaton wins!

@Karen W. So sad... He was very open about his struggle with drugs on his recent-ish You made it Weird podcast appearance.

DeleteCondorman > Birdman
ReplyDeleteI make it my mission to see all the Oscar-nominated movies each year, and this time my favorites were Boyhood and Whiplash. I love the Oscars!

ReplyDeleteI correctly predict that I will not be watching!

I'd love a hooker-nun show down.
Eff auto correct. Liz Taylor butterfield 8, Mira Sorvino for hookers.
DeleteAudrey (not Kate) was the Oscar winning nun.
The show hasn't been promo'd much.

@califblondy,you're not alone re Julianne Moore.I feel the same way about (whisper it!)Robert Downey Jnr
DeleteOooh, girl you better watch out, Himmmm and his minions are gonna get ya!
