I live with a 4-year-old who eats everything. Snacks are my life.
On the healthy tip: Any type of crudite. Peppers, radishes, carrots, cucumbers, etc. And fruit. Any variety. Apples, berries, grapes, melon. I can't wait for the summer to have a fab Jersey peach. And blueberries!!
Then of course, cheese and crackers. Love a brie. The other day my son was like, "Mommy, how about a soft cheese." I was like, seriously kid, are you Niles Crane?
My son is on a maj pepperoni kick at the moment, but I prefer soppresetta or prosciutto.
Hummus and tapanades are awesome. I make a fab pita chip. My son houses those, too.
Popcorn (homemade, natch).
On the packaged goods: Pretzels. And I should own stock in Pepperidge Farm. I have 3 different varieties of goldfish at any given time. And Milanos for those weeks when there is just no time to bake a batch of cookies.
I also have a candy drawer that blows the mind off of all children who enter my home. A piece of chocolate or a swedish fish ain't gonna kill ya.
I use Happy Hour as a great way to introduce my kiddo to all different types of food. He loves crostini with truffle butter. My food bill is bananas. LOL. But I love that my kid tastes all different "snacks."
I've been slightly obsessed with a toasted chickpea recipe that I found on Pinterest. I am deathly allergic to nuts so they are not a part of my repertoire. I make a mean toasted pumpkin seed, too. Those are the shiz.
I am so stoked for Friday because I'm going to rock out my shrimp crostinis and a couple of vegetarian ones. Trying to be a good Catholic girl during Lent. No meat!
My new snack I keep at my desk are the individual sized pack of Roasted Almonds. I'm a salty snacker. When craving sweets, I go with the Reeses Peanut Butter Big Cup.
I have zero sweet tooth, so it's all salty. And yes, crudites and cheese and pickles and olives! My snack plate is appetizers. :D
Every once in a while, I get a craving for these really good cheese crackers made with brown rice so they're gluten free. I can inhale a whole (not very large so it's OK) box in a day!
We pick up Cheez-Its and stuff like that normally, but when I go visit my mom...Ahh! We love our "pickle plates" where it's a bunch of pickles and fancy pepperoncinis and olives and nice crackers! Our breath smells awful but who cares? It's just us girls and fun TV :)
Omg, i forgot all time best snack ever-M&Ms!!!!!!! One new years eve with a bunch of friends, we got involved in keeping a balloon up in the air for like ever. When we finally stopped, our friend had separated a huge bowl of M&Ms by color!!!!!! I will leave to guess whether or not we were atoned, lol.
When I'm snacky I usually go for salty...nuts, crackers, Doritos. All the healthy crap.
ReplyDeleteUnhealthy sugary cereals that I grew up on.
