Right about what? I think clint just says that to get away with his latest girlfriend, of course. Anyway, my thoughts on american sniper: it shows how he was trained, how hard it was for him to readjust and his death at the hands of someone he was trying to help. So i think it was pretty antiwar, or at very least, shows how hard it is to live in military world and real workd.
@auntliddy, the guy talked about how much he enjoyed killing and even expressed disappointment that un-witnessed kills didn't count, or his kill rate would've been higher. He re-upped three times and said that all Muslim men between 16 and 65 should be considered terrorists and therefore targets. He was murdered by a former soldier with PTSD that he and another guy took to a gun range - seriously, they took a guy with PTSD to a gun range.
I'm sorry he's dead. However, I think Clint was affirming that there's a point, just like he did with Million Dollar Baby. Things aren't always black and white, and the grey areas are the ones we have to examine more closely.
Yes, 7-11, the gray area. He was trained as a killer, a sniper. For his sanity, he HAD to think of them as the enemy. Then he supposed to come home and act perfectly normal now. Now this taking pstd soldier to shoot range strikes me as crazy, but he had done it before and it helped oeople. I have no idea how, makes no sense to me. We dont like snipers, we dont like to think about their job, but none of us wld mind if some snipers took out those Isis psychos. And therein lies the dichotemy.
I'm torn on this. He was quoted about his first kill (a woman holding a baby who pulled out a grenade) "She was already dead, It was my job to make sure she didn't take any marines with her" I completely agree with that. She was, in essence, a suicide bomber. He took care of the danger factor for the troops. The PTSD thing, actually that trail is about to begin here in Texas. He DID do a lot to help fellow vets and I can only guess he and his friend thought putting this guy in control and hearing the shots while in control would help him. Obviously it was a bad call for all 3 involved. As far as all Muslim men needing to be shot, I can understand his war mindset and only hope that once he came home and realized that was thousands of miles away and he no longer had to fight, he changed his view. Then again, it probably wouldn't have been a bad thing to have his guard up the day at the firing range.
Frankly I thought it was just in poor taste to make this movie before the accused has even gone to trial. We all know he did it, but it makes it next to impossible for the guy to get a fair trial - which is the right of every American.
Just for the record, like on the official recorded history of crazy shit the "american sniper" said, I think dude was crazy. He claimed to have killed some car jackers, and picking off looters during hurricane Katrina, and that's not even mentioning the Jesse Ventura story. I haven't seen the movie, but yeah the guy was a "hero" but he also apparently murdered civilians. Wouldn't surprise me if he wouldn't have been "taken care of" by our government.
