  1. Saw 'Birdman' last week and thought it was a snooze. I appreciate the cinematographer getting an award - there were a lot of long, long, long shots there that must have required superhuman strength. But as a movie I thought it was kind of cheap and facile. And the ending was so obvious. I hope it doesn't win Best Picture.

  2. I watched Boyhood this weekend and really enjoyed it. I loved watching the characters age 12 years, glad Richard Linklater won best director.

  3. Nutty, my friend started to warch Birdman and she said it was weird and turned it off. I like weird so still eager to see it. It's probably going to win even though Theory is supposedly awesome.

  5. @Sherry, I agree that it was weird. But I didn't feel it challenged itself - its conclusions and characters were so obvious. I think a Best Picture should be something that challenges my way of thinking, makes me look at the world in a new way.

  6. Cumberbatch played Hawking in 2004. Redmayne's performance in Theory was very similar to what BC did 11 years ago. Just my opinion.
