In an opinion piece for Sunday's New York Times, Sorkin wrote: "I'm not crazy about Americans calling other Americans un-American, so let’s just say that every news outlet that did the bidding of the Guardians of Peace is morally treasonous and spectacularly dishonorable."
Sorkin dismissed any comparison between the studio's leaked files and the Pentagon Papers of the Vietnam era, to which the Sony situation has been likened by some. "There is nothing in these documents remotely rising to the level of public interest of the information found in the Pentagon Papers," he said, adding that Sony had not done anything illegal or worthy of the breach.
Sorkin was dragged into the fray when emails surfaced detailing arguments between Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal and producer Scott Rudin over the Steve Jobs biopic that Sorkin scripted.
Perhaps Sony felt the risk of releasing the movie wasn't worth a possible terror attack. Imagine the finger pointing if that were to happen. I don't know if they made the right decision, but I understand it.

ReplyDeleteAgree. Bullshit to cancelling. I wish somy wld forget dollar signs and throw it up on reg tv so as many people as possible can see it. Keep it off the internet, and dont even publicize its going to be in, just put it on. I also agree, hacking is a crime, and i dont look at any hacked pictures or emails.

ReplyDeleteBy totally canceling the movie due to "public safety", insurers will have to pay Sony for the loss. This was a financial decision.
