TV Show Roundup

Programming Note:
Hart of Dixie returns to the CW tonight, and will move to Fridays beginning January 9th

Scheduling Note:
Ryan Seacrest has revealed that starting next season, American Idol will only air once a week as opposed to twice a week, as it airs currently. American Idol will follow in the footsteps of Dancing With the Stars and have both the performances and the results on the same night.

Spinoff Alert:
Criminal Minds is looking into creating a spinoff series from showrunner Erica Messer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The episode that would spawn the potential spinoff will air later this season.

  1. I gave up on Criminal Minds several years ago. It just got too gruesome. You'd think after the first failed attempt at a CM spin-off, CBS would just let it go. Apparently, this one "focuses on a division of the FBI that helps American citizens encountering trouble abroad." If that little snippet isn't enough to get you excited, I don't know what would be. Yawn ~ there is no creativity in television any more, it's either a reality show or a spin off.

    1. I seem to be following you around today, sorry.
I noticed I couldn't watch it anymore, but I assumed I was just getting old, which is probably true.
I agree that it's unnecessarily gruesome at times - sometimes at the expense of what could be an actual story. I used to love it.

    2. Uno, I did too. I liked the interaction of the team members and some of the stories were thought-provoking. Then at some point, the stories were so over-the-top with violence against women (really, think about how many times women were the victims and how many times men were the victims). The last seasons I really made a point of watching seemed to focus on sick, sadistic sex crimes. It became about shock value and titillation and was too much for me.

  2. I don't like the results on the same night. I know they say the votes are added from the previous week but it feels so staged. Like, the producers already picked who should go home and it's easier to fudge the votes this way.

  3. Does anyone even watch AI anymore? I agree with Criminal Minds, gave up on it years ago.

  5. I also quite watching. My tv station showed old shows and the graphic begging of the show was not good.

  6. I stopped watching a couple of years ago too. I loved the cast and thought it was a great ensemble until they started messing with the female leads. I have started trying to watch again but on on demand. I make sure i'm doing something in case it gets really gross.

Joe Mantegna's character has a mixed race daughter now.
