Celebrity Real Estate - Take a Tour of Andy Samberg's New Home

When Andy Samberg married Joanna Newsom, they decided to start their lives together in a home with famous previous owners such as Charlie Chaplin and Mary Astor. The house, called Moorcrest, was designed by a female architect in the 1920s, Marie Russak Hotchener. See the very cool pictures of the home at Curbed.

  3. Does Windex work for cleaning stained glass windows in one's shower?

  4. I like it! Moroccan themes and strong colors. Not a huge fan of leather furniture and that giant sectional nope, but otherwise, it has an old-timey feeling of nobility.

    1. I can absolutely see Mary Astor gliding through the rooms in peach satin pyjamas, holding a long black cigarette holder.

  5. What?!?! I had no idea he was married to Joanna Newsom! I wore her album "The Milk-Eyed Mender" out! I suddenly have a whole new respect for Andy Samberg.

  6. And now that I've actually looked at the house - it looks like it is worth every penny of the 6.25 million. I actually think it's a steal at that price with all the history behind it!

    1. Totally. I'm an insane classic film buff and would DIE to live there.

  7. I usually prefer a more modern aesthetic, but even I have to admit that a stained glass window in the shower is pretty fucking amazing!

    1. Me too VIP but all those tiles and that pool! Seems like a steal! Gorgeous!

The bedrooms do creep me out a bit, some updating there would be nice

  8. I wonder if the distinction of female involving any profession will cease in my lifetime. There was a reddit AMA a few days ago and the posters identified themselves as "three female computer scientists at MIT" and it made me slightly sad.

    1. @Kat how are those feline friends of yours?

    2. Well tickle, Bandit hides under the bed in the daytime but eats and disturbs all of the blankets around the room at night. And he's going in his litter box! I let my girl Amelia in and it was so funny. She just hid under the opposite end of the bed! It's Messi that's giving me a problem. He already hissed when I brought the crate up and he's been clingy to me and more aggressive than usual to Amelia. I'm trying to give him extra attention but it sucks bc I miss Amelia. He chases her away. I will get rescue remedy on Thursday and will order one of Jackson Galaxy's Spirit Essences, the bully remedy. If anyone can suggest a homeopathic remedy is appreciate it! I'll be googling those so I can buy something on Thursday. I love Messi but he's close to driving me crazy with the clinginess :(

    3. @Kat, boy cats will always try to dominate. Rescue Remedy will calm him down a little but as much as I hate to say it, if you have an aggressive boy cat, he will mark you and see any other feline as a "threat".

We rescued a kitten when my little old lady cat was about 14 and he was an absolute a-hole to her. He's not a bad kitty but in the pack mentality, he felt it necessary to assure dominance over her. She didn't give a whit (she'd swipe him when he got sassy with her) but I could definitely see how he was trying to make sure everyone knew he was king poop of turd mountain. He would steal her food (we had to give them separate feeding areas) and she refused to use the litterbox if he had (so we had separate litterboxes).

Little old lady passed about 18 months later (still not letting him be the boss) and Annoying Orange still believes everything and everyone belongs to him. It's kind of funny, I dog-sit for my friend sometimes and she looooooves him, it drives him nuts. :D

I have found that male cats are way clingier than female cats. Annoying Orange literally sits in front of my computer when I'm working, or sits on the table and stares at me while I'm cooking, or twines my legs when I'm doing anything other than showing him his proper due.

  11. I think you buy these houses because they are unique and iconic. If you want a fixer upper get a different house but if you want history you keep the unique features in tact and I am not sure if some of these houses are considered historic. I know in other places in the world certain buildings are under protection for the preservation of the history of a place, even my home town, the original main street is considered Heritage property and anyone who buys them has to follow rules set out by the city. I saw on Millionaire Listing LA they listed and sold the Dorothy Chandler house and it was beautiful but looked more like a museum but some people did that.

  12. I am happy knowing something this beautiful exists in my city. I would hope the furniture and current art are that of the previous owner. I would like to see art that is more in harmony with the house.

  17. Holy crap that house is fantastic!!! The atrium is GORGEOUS! The outdoor spaces look fantastic and the kitchen would be a dream. I love eclectic style so this totally works for me. The only room I wasn't crazy about was the bathroom with too many mirrors (but I could live with that). I realize it's not for everyone but I'd take it in a heartbeat - where do I sign?
