Mariah Carey Breaks Down At Concert

Mariah Carey performed for her first of six holiday concerts on Monday, and Us Weekly has the rundown of all that went wrong. First, she lost a shoe, but continued singing while clutching the shoe in one hand, and her microphone in the other. Then, she began crying while singing her hit "Hero," and her microphone pack fell out of her gown. After she was taped back in, she continued the song. Despite the accidents, attendees reported that Carey was all-around incredible.

  1. Hero is an emotional song and the audience loved her (of course!). Mariah is an inspiration to live your life and ignore the critics and gossips of the world. Love you Mimi! xoxo

    2. Rolo I hate to tell you but Whitney did not write the song: From Wiki it was intended for Gloria Estefan, the song was written and produced by Carey and Walter Afanasieff. The version in The Bodyguard is sung by Mariah Carey. Rhiana and Aretha have covered the song but Whitney never did.

    4. Whitney Houston, much to her mistake, never wrote a song.

  2. Kind of a misleading title. Makes it sound like Mariah cracked up at her show, not that she got emotional during a song. Wouldn't a better title be something like "Mariah Carey encounters problems during performance, soldiers on"?

    1. That's what I was thinking, too. Like, she had a meltdown and couldn't go on.

    2. I agree---people just love to see a beautiful, talented and successful woman fail.

    3. @derek, I don't care if Mariah fails (see last weeks isolated vocal video), I just the misrepresentation of the event.

Now continue on with your Mariah love :)

    4. derek, you're right re: SOME people-not ALL... but you nailed it: beautiful, talented & successful- it's envy & jealousy & its cruel. I don't get all the venom toward Mariah- amazing voice & pretty much owned by Tommy Mottola from such a young age ...like her voice became her curse- I can totally relate to her not giving 2 sh*** about her g.d. vocal chords etc...

    5. It doesn't say she had a breakdown. It said "breaks down" which means she got teary. I understand jumping on the CDaN butchering of English, but to blow up over correct use of the language is stretching.

  4. From the story, it wasn't a breakdown. It was simply being emotional. There's a big difference.

In all honesty, I'm glad she didn't have a breakdown.

  6. I think people love Mimi more because she is a human and not a robot ala Brittney. Girl feels her music doesn't just pre record a tape and lip sync.

  7. Nahh uhhhhh! Wendy Williams said she lost one shoe and it was nowhere to be found. That's funnier so I'm going with Wendy!

  9. I heard her singing "All I Want for Christmas" this morning. It was ear-wrenchingly bad. At one point she does this odd breathy little girl coo and another point she wobbles heavily on a high note. I've always liked Mariah's singing but that was just not good.

Oh, and Taylor Swift's song came on next. She's not a regular on the station I listen to, so I haven't heard her recently, but that song was downright creepy. I'm a nightmare dressed up as a daydream, I'll leave you with a scar, my ex-lovers will tell you I'm insane, I've got a blank space to write your name. Girl, you are not Jagged Little Pill, you just sound like a 15yo with PMS and a Jonas brother poster.

  10. It looks like its hard for some people to accept Mimi's a mess, but signs point to yes. I wish she'd get right because of the kids.
