North Korea-Themed Steve Carell Movie Cancelled

The same day that Sony pulled the release of the movie The Interview permanently, New Regency Productions cancelled production on their North Korean thriller starring Steve Carell. Gore Verbinski, who you may know as the director of The Ring and the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies, was set to direct the movie. Verbinski released the following statement exclusively to Us Weekly:
"Yesterday, I was told by New Regency and Fox that Fox will no longer be distributing the film. Prior to that, the film was green-lit and fully funded by New Regency with Fox distributing. I have been told in no uncertain words that based on the situation at Sony, Fox has now decided to not distribute the film. Without a distributor, New Regency was forced to shut the film down. I find it ironic that fear is eliminating the possibility to tell stories that depict our ability to overcome fear."

    That statement is perfect.

  2. I read about this yesterday. People were thinking it was supposed to be a comedy, but Verbinski had it planned as a "paranoid thriller".

And of course it's Obama's fault.

  5. The Sony Hackers now demand that all trailers, advertising material ect be destroyed. They also warn that the movie should never be put to VOD, DVD or pay per view if Sony knows what's good for them....as per TMZ
