Judi Dench Talks About Finding Love Again

Although Dame Judi Dench began dating David Mills in 2010, she hadn't spoken publicly about the relationship until she sat down for an interview with The Times. In the interview, she states that after losing her husband Michael Williams to lung cancer in 2001, beginning a new relationship "never even for a second occurred to me, not for a single second." That all changed when Dench struck up a friendship with Mills in 2010. Their friendship blossomed into a relationship, and although she does not plan to remarry (the couple doesn't live together either), she says of her beau "...he is so lovely, with a great sense of humor. Now it's absolutely wonderful because there's somebody who makes me laugh. Isn't it lovely?"

  2. I'm telling you, we have seldom had so many good role models about that are aging gracefully, happily, fiercely! It's a pleasure to read about them!

  5. Indeed Tis true AuntLicky. She seems like such a warm sweet person who probably missed her husband profoundly yet opened her heart eventually. Your love should always make you laugh. Good for her.

  6. Aww, I'm so happy for her. I love hearing stories about older people finding love again because it just seems so much harder for them. Especially when they already had one great love--I can imagine it's tough to find someone who measures up.

  8. I'm happy for her. She is a great actress and seems like a wonderful person.

My 99 year old mother in law found love last year in her assisted living home with a younger man - he's 93. She waited for a year after they started dating to tell him how old she is. So, I know now it's never to late to find love.

  9. I could still see her and Bill Nighy as a couple. I loved that whole group in The Best Exotic Marigold. If you haven't seen it you should.

My grandmother and Judy Dench look like they could have been sisters (grandma's passed away now). Whenever I see Judy onscreen it's like seeing grandma again.
    Happy 80th Dame Judy!
