Chris Pratt Discusses Son Jack's Premature Birth

At a March of Dimes benefit on Friday, Chris Pratt shared details about his son Jack's premature birth. Jack weighed just 3 pounds, 12 ounces when he was born 9 weeks early in 2012. Pratt spoke about fatherhood at the event and having skin-to-skin contact with Jack during his stay in the NICU. “I made promises in that moment about what kind of dad I wanted to be and I just prayed that he’d live long enough that I could keep them.”

“None of what we went through would be as easy even 10 years ago,” he said. In the NICU, life or death hangs in the balance — “a balance that’s tipping towards life by cutting-edge medicines, much of which is a direct result of this wonderful organization, the March of Dimes.”

  4. That is cool. I'm happy the kid is healthy and strong now. It is amazing what they can do now. My stepson was born weighing just over a pound. He was given an hour to live. He was so fragile but stronger than anybody.
The kid is now 21 and 6 feet tall, blonde and handsome. He's a journalism major in college and is a very cool dude.
Those kids fight harder in those first few hours then most people fight in a lifetime.

@IJU, I completely agree, they are tough little cookies!

  8. Probably tmi for a gossip site, but my son was born 10 weeks early via an emergency c-section. He weighed 1 lb, 10 oz. I have never been or will ever be as scared as I was at that time. He is now 6 feet tall and looking to join the military.
