Sony Execs Are A Bunch of Haters

In the run up to the premiere of the movie The Interview, alleged North Korean hackers keep releasing more embarrassing emails from Sony execs. Here are the latest:

Gawker has a lengthy article that is well worth the read with a series of leaked emails, mostly about the failed Steve Jobs biopics. The best quotes from the e-mails:
Michael DeLuca on Michael Fassbender: "Shame just makes you feel bad to have normal sized male genitalia"
Scott Rudin on not wanting to participate in a conference call: "...the masturbatory call is a wank I have no time for."

Sony hates that Kevin Hart wants money for promoting his movies. TMZ quotes one Sony exec as saying "I'm not saying he's a whore, but he's a whore."

Sony really hates Angelina Jolie. TMZ quotes Scott Rudin as saying of Jolie: "I am not destroying my career over a minimally talented, spoiled brat." "She's a camp event and a celebrity and that's the last thing anybody needs is to make a giant bomb with her that any fool could see coming."

In a move that they claim has nothing at all to do with the leaked emails, Sony has banned all broadcast media from the upcoming premiere of The Interview, and print reporters are not allowed to interview any of the cast and crew of the movie, TMZ reports. You stay classy, Sony.

    2. Hahaha well it's no secret he and Jolie don't like each other. I can see him smiling at that Rudin quote about her :)

    3. I read that Clooney email..he didn't sound psychic, just paranoid ..more of that my dad's a newsman crap he constantly dishes ..it was very odd.

    4. He needs to recheck his Facts of Life/Roseanne roots. Agree kelli.

    5. I think Clooney was referring to the subject of the movie. News of the World hacked into phones in Britain, including the phone of a teenager who was later found murdered, the families of British soldiers killed in action, and a variety of celebrities.

    1. ikr? this is hands down the juiciest most delicious gossip I have heard in months if not years. I LOVED the snide remarks about Fassbender from Sorkin and about Jolie from Rudin. and the toxic emails between Pascal and Rudin, this was JUST GREAT. I only wish we had stuff like this every month. Fighting over Fincher who dumps both films. ha! wonderful stuff.

  6. Scott Rudin is not Sony. He's an independent producer with ties mostly to other studios. He was attached to Sony for the Steve Jobs biopic because of Aaron Sorkin and The Social Network.
Amy Pascal really wants to make Cleopatra starring Angelina Jolie, which is an obvious vanity project (remember the last swords and sandals film she starred in, and the business it did). Pascal, to please Jolie, wants to have David Fincher attached to the project.
Rudin doesn't believe that Cleopatra will be produced, and asked Fincher to direct the Jobs film, but Jolie refuses, because it would delay the production of Cleopatra, and she considers Cleopatra the highest priority. That's why Rudin was on fire against Amy Pascal and her. He's not involved with Cleopatra, and laughs at the project as often as he can.

    1. but wait I think Rudin owns the rights to Cleopatra. So he can tell Jolie to F off. I thought it was really funny how Pascal was pandering to Jolie. Rudin is right, it would have destroyed both Rudin's and Pascal's careers. "ego bath" was the words he used and also "debacle" I think he was spot on. I don't think Jolie could carry the role, she hasn't been amazing since Lara Croft and earlier.

  8. I wish I had enough money to fire off emails and say whatever the hell I want. It would be a bit refreshing. I love this behind the scenes tea!

  9. Rudin must be asshole to call Jolie untalented brat or whatever he said. Say what you will about her, her movies make money and most of all generate interest. What studio doesnt want that? And she is a beyond amazing actress and wld make a great Cleopatra now that i think about it.

  11. This is NOT North Korean hackers, I really doubt it.

That being said, keep those emails coming, North Korean hackers!!!!!!!

  12. When is "North Korea" going to hack Nickelodeon?

  13. I feel the same way about this as I do about the naked pictures that were leaked. They were not intended for my eyes and since I don't know the context, or were supposed to, I won't look or use it to make any judgements.

    1. well, actually, none of this gossip was intended for our eyes...that is what makes it so refreshing. If it had been intended for public consumption it would be banal and sterilized!

  14. What a bunch of illiterate whiners. Jolie makes bank but she's a "camp"? She has multiple Golden Globes, an Oscar, SAG awards, and numerous noms. Yeah, she will survive and so will that young woman they call a "bi-polar lunatic" because she didn't return their calls within three days. Wankers.

    Right on, @Basil.

  15. I agree with Basil. I'm a nobody, but I still very carefully consider everything I put down in writing on the Internet. You never know when the private will become public, as Mel Gibson and Donald Sterling can testify.

  16. The leaks are awesome - best behind the scenes gossip! Completely unprofessional & there's some serious wankers in charge (with very good points, albeit, monologues). Heads are rolling at Sony!
I'm not buying that this is the work of N Korea - me thinks it has to do with sabotaging / award season. (Well played Aniston!)

    1. Lol, wouldn't that be amazing if Aniston was the mastermind?!?! If only.

    2. That's an interesting idea. What movies do you think Sony had in the running that will be harmed? Hey., maybe Harvey is behind it! He's such a strategist when it comes to awards. I doubt the North Koreans give a crap.

    3. That WOULD be worthy of an Oscar!

  19. Also read some hacks where rudim and amy were making fun of obama, asking jokingly if they shld ask if he liked django. Keeping it classy, as someone said.

  20. ...but ALL those statements are true!!! I want more. Go SONY execs!!!!!!

  21. Generally the people who vie for the power positions in Hollywood are ambitious, aggressive and demanding. Professional? Only occasionally.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Talk about truth being stranger than fiction. That was unreal! IMO If this insanity keeps going, all the behind the scenes drama could make for a far more interesting movie than Cleopatra or Jobs could ever hope to be.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Agree with Tiger. These people are aggressive and a bit reckless and that is partly why they are successful in a creative field. I've known high level bankers who also put some pretty embarrassing stuff in emails. Risky folks.

    ReplyDelete
  24. North Korea? I was assuming this was Anonymous. But you know what they say about assuming things...

    ReplyDelete
  25. And am I the only one who finds all this highly entertaining? But not surprising at all? Color me CDAN jaded, I'm not shocked. And Hollywood keep it professional? Pffffff. They're above all that, don't ya know?

  26. I interviewed for a job once at Scott Rudin's prod company - this is almost twenty years ago now. He is LEGENDARY in Hollywood for being a total total dick, and untouchable bc his films are amazing. The Kevin Spacey character from swimming with sharks is based on him, and the film was written by a former assistant. Rudin loved the way it portrayed him...he is only laughing about this, and Angelie is probably not surprised or even that pissed. He is one of the biggest assholes in that town, and always has been...
