    3. It's shite. I've been putting it off for days, convincing myself it's just a headache, but then I got caught in a sleet storm and there was no fighting it.
I don't have time to be sick, but I spent today in bed so hopefully I'll be a bit better tomorrow.
Sherry Baby, I hope you feel better soon. I'm with you in spirit.
      Pass the tissues.

    2. Kat wished I lived near you and could take that darling. I miss my girls so bad but really need a pet. Not sure how to broach the subject with my husband. He hurts too.

  5. I've been having trouble getting into Xmas this year. Bought a tree but haven't decorated, haven't started shopping, etc. Last night we went to a XMAS show at the Belly Up where the band Venice (old school rock band that does 4 part harmony better than CSNY) blended their songs with XMAS tunes. It really helped get me more in the mood. Tonight I might even decorate my tree!

  7. I have to type out the minutes my Aunt writes down for the meetings she has at the hospital every month. Her handwriting sucks and the woman who is over the foundation (President for life of it in fact) is such a bitch, she sent me a note about how SHE wants punctuation done on it. When they don't give my Aunt any money to have them typed, copied, sent, etc.. My Aunt feels she should pay me and the first time gave me $100 but I told her it was too much, then $50 and again, I told her it was too much since she was paying out of her own pocket, Now she gives me $20. I told her she should tell them to pay for it since the foundation get's about $20k a month in donations and uses it for stuff like carpet for the doctors offices and the like but she still refuses to do it. It's an expense, it's something that is OK for them to spend money on. If they were paying, I'd take the $100 and since it takes me about 3-4 hours to get it JUST right, it's about what it should cost them.

  8. A few times a year a couple friends and I get together and bake a few hundred dog treats for our local humane societies...we deliver them tomorrow and we are just about done. We've done about 500 with 5 different flavours.

    3. Our most popular one that we do and the one I make for my two pups (who drool when they smell them baking) is the "Peanut Butter Pumpkin"(#7) one towards the bottom of the page. I apologize I don't know how to make the link clicky: http://www.brit.co/homemade-dog-treats/

  9. Happy birthday meanie, and hugs and chix soup to all sickos, of which i was one 2 wks ago. Im wondering why it gets dark at like 3pm. Im also wondering if i will ever get off my duff and wrap the loads of gifts i have( for the 5 grandchildren). Im wondering too if i will get my tree up anytime soon. Sigh.

  10. I spent last night replacing 200 bulbs on my tree, because I was like "there are only a few out" then I made some ruffled burlap garland and a tulle, lace garland wrapped around another strand of lights. So that was about 2 am when I was done. Then the kids of course got up at 6:30 because they hate me. So I'm trying to edit a really adorable/sad session with this couple who have been married 63 years. But i also just want to take a nap. So it's a slow process for sure. And still incredibly disinteresting ;)

  12. Omgomgomg it is so ice cold freezing here. Every time I go out to my unattached garage to check on the two feral cats (in traps) I'm so freaking cold and I feel bad for them so I just put them in my basement. I have to keep my kitties out of there!!!! and bring only one of their kitty boxes to the kitchen (gross!) but idk what else to do! One of the kitties is so chill and I'm petting it and seriously thinking about keeping it. The other is a terrified, vicious feral that attacks if I go too close to the cage. It's really freaky having one of those in my house!!!! Anyone else ever done this? She can be released Sunday and the sweet boy tomorrow but I'm going to wait a few days... And Sunday I try to trap more.....

    1. What is a feral cat? I'm someone who knows nothing about cats....when you say "trap more" I imagine a giant mouse trap

    2. Gina- a feral cat is a cat born in the wild, grows up in the wild, and acts like a wild animal- hissing and scratching if u try to come near it. The absolute opposite of a pet cat. If the kitten is not socialized as a kitten, it remains feral or wild.

    3. Kat - we used to have a feral female that kept getting pregnant and creating more (unhealthy) feral cats. We borrowed a trap and got her fixed and vaccinated then let her go after her recovery days.

I'd drape a blanket over the trap (after you've caught them) to help keep them warm and keep the super wild one feeling less exposed and hopefully calmer.

Something you can do for the feral cats in the cold weather (outside) is buy a few of those cheapo styrofoam coolers. Flip them upside down, put a brick or something heavy on top to keep it in place and cut a cat sized hole for a doorway. Face the doorway away from the wind.

You can buy a bag of cedar chips and hay at your local plant nursery (usually this time of year). Cedar on the bottom of the cat igloo keeps the insects out, and hay gives them something to burrow into and keep warmer on these cold nights.

We had what we called "Porch Cats". We kept food and clean water out for the neighborhood strays. It makes it easier to trap them too if they know there's always food & water in a certain location. Sorry for the long lecture guys. Hope any of this helps.

  13. We had a big wind storm last night. Branches and twigs and stuff lying all over the place. I found out yesterday that I have high blood pressure and the doctor insisted I start taking medication for it...I have basic medical and the prescription cost me $54.00. I am sure my blood pressure rose a few more notches when I was paying for that.

    1. Audrey- sorry about messy storm. I too found out yesterday i have borderline high blood pressure, which i never had in my life. No meds needed yet. Good luck to you- hope meds works and no side effects:)

    2. Audrey- Walmart has a deal at their pharmacy where they can really help you get your meds cheaper (as long as you can get them generic). Check that out because it can really save you some $$. High BP is nothing to screw around about either. Also there are quite a wide variety of BP meds, so you should be able to find something that works for you that's less expensive. Talk to your doctor about it (because that shit can get expensive pronto). Doctors are always trying to get you to take the newest = most expensive thing out there IMO.

  14. I surf the interwebs when we have meetings. Although I've managed to somehow blow off two state of the firms in a row. Don't think the CEO is very happy with me.

  15. I get to go get a CT scan on Tuesday to see if I have kidney stones. At least I have narcotics to dull the pain over the weekend. Think I'll color my hair tomorrow for cheap thrills, jeez it's suppose to be 71 degrees here. Groovy.

  16. Happy belated, Rhysie!

Kat, are you keeping them b/c of rabies? Our local shelter asks people to bring any trapped feral cats to them, they vaccinate and fix and house them. I don't know if they release them, though, or try to foster/adopt them out. Irresponsible pet owners drive me insane.

MinPin, hope your CT shows no kidney stones! Yay for painkillers, I've heard kidney stones are the worst pain ever, even worse than childbirth. :/

    1. Seven, the cats already got all the fixins and I had to pay $20 per cat. It would cost $10 more per night for the clinic to house them so I'm doing it. I was supposed to trap more tomorrow but I am freaking exhausted and need a break!
