Susan Sarandon: It's Complicated

Page Six reports that Susan Sarandon, 68, has split from boyfriend Jonathan Bricklin 37. However, Bricklin spoke to People, and had this to say:

"Susan and I have a lot of respect and great admiration for each other. It's impossible to concisely characterize our relationship, other than to say that it continues to evolve in new and unexpected ways. She supported my decision to be a part of AOL's connected, and making this series about my life has brought up real and somewhat unexplored issues, but it didn't break us up."

Bricklin is one of 6 New Yorkers who stars in the new AOL documentary series Connected, produced by Morgan Spurlock. Sarandon also appears on the show, which premieres on March 31st.

  1. It's not that complicated. She came to her senses and realized she didn't want to be a part of a reality show.

The age difference...well, it works for Michael Douglas and CZ-J.

    1. Dex-i dont think michael and zeta jones are a couple to emmulate. He cheats which apparently makes her bipolar flare up. Those two have alot of problems- they seperated for a while, two youngest kids are special needs- altho they look fine to me- she has bipolar disease, he had throat cancer and his son is in jail for drugs. So there is a load of stuff for them to deal with.

  3. She does look amazing for 68 but that's one hell of an age difference. I know as we get older those differences don't really matter but now you're simply of a completely different era. That's gotta be a bit of a challenge still. WTH they both got something out of it. She got a young man and he got a celebrity.

  4. She was with Tim Robbins (a crush of mine) for years. Plus, as a RHPS fan I have a soft spot in my heart for her.

  5. Another story I have heard from someone who worked on a movie of Tim's is that when they (Susan and Tim) were together Tim was always acting like a child, kinda spoiled like and she was clearly "the mother" in the relationship. He was very immature and she would keep him in line. So this relationship just always seemed par for the course.

    1. Agree, wahoo, and then when they grow up, they leave the nest.

    2. Exactly...I remember reading in some "self-help" book when I was young it is never a good idea to be in a "parent-child" dynamic type relationship cuz eventually the "child" one WILL grow up and rebel or leave or most likely both.

  6. Wow, that's a 30 year age difference.

Agree with @Dexamyl, she didn't want to be part of a reality show. I was really surprised when she and Tim broke up.

  7. You know what as long as everyone is of legal age, age is a state of mind and Susan is not your average 68 year old so it would be very understandable that younger men find her fascinating and for women as they get older, who are young of spirit and mind and kept care of themselves, men their own age can be very dull or looking for caretakers.

You would go into it realizing it probably won't last long but what relationship does these days - but you can learn a lot from each other. Esp if it clearly isn't someone looking for a sugar mama or sugar daddy.

Some young people are just born more mature than everyone around them and some older people are eternally young in spirit.

In this case I think Susan was just helping out some friends with a documentary/reality series. I am sure Spurlock wanted some star power for his series.

  9. I made it a rule when I was date: never date anyone so young that I could have given birth to him.

    1. lol...right on. Mr. Wahoo is 6 yrs younger than me but he is by far the more mature one in this relationship. It's not a parent-child situation but I'm the "free spirit" and he is the "responsible grounded" one that on occasion is shaking his head at my "child-like" ways.

  10. It sounds like Jonathan Bricklin has been taking lessons on how to release a garbled and stupid statement from Richard Gere.
