Cindy Adams Talks Fashion Police

In her column for Page Six, Cindy Adams talks about the future of E!'s Fashion Police. Among the revelations? Kathy Griffin was absolutely going after the job while Joan Rivers was on life support, while Adams was sitting by Rivers' side. Kathy Griffin also reported complained to Melissa Rivers that she is not being paid the same as Joan was. Kelly Osbourne walked away from the drama that has ensued, and Griffin reportedly wants Melissa Rivers gone.

  1. I can not stand Kathy Griffin. She may be the least funny person ever.

  2. Maybe the sun has set on TFP. When Joan started red carpet coverage, no one else was doing it. The show was irreverent and sharp. Now the times have changed and everyone has a stick up their ass

  3. They tried, it didn't work, adios.

  4. Yowza!!!!! These fools need to sit themselves down and remember that they are privileged and easily replaceable- by more qualified candidates.

I am sorry that I cannot remember which commenter brilliantly made the suggestion that FP should just rotate fictional characters like Cher from Clueless and Samantha Jones. Such a great concept- I'd actually watch it again. I'd also want: Mugatu, Sophia Burset, Lafayette, Bruno, Miranda Priestly and Cristal Connors.

    1. + 1,000 for Lafayette. I loved him.

    2. I have never watched Fashion Police but I would SO jump on that concept!

Interesting that Kelly's now being painted as the affronted party. So she's not walking away b/c of an offensive (not) remark, she's walking away because Kathy's a fame ho. Oh, unlike Kelly?

    3. @7: I know right? The entire thing is ridiculous. Now Radar is even reporting that Guiliana made the joke as revenge because Zendaya once auditioned to potentially replace her. What a joke.

    4. + 1 for Bruno. "Fashion saves a lot more lives than doctors."

    5. I'm the one that suggested the fictional guest hosts. I think they need to take FP in a different direction if the show is going to make it because let's face it you can't replace Joan (even though I love Kathy Griffin's stand up comedy I don't think the same "formula is gonna work).

OMG Mugatu, Lafayette, Miranda Priestly, Job from Banshee, Jack and Karen, Stefan from SNL (the list is endless) - ALL of those would be awesome!!! Because they would be playing their characters, they could really let loose with critiquing without getting blowback from the people they're commenting on. I would SO watch that show!

It could also serve to reinvigorate interest in some vintage fashion movies/characters. Who do I call to make this happen?

  5. Kelly o 'walked away from the drama'? Yeah, right. I'm not a fan of Griffin, but she's been the only one to be honest about some gawd awful looks..and hasn't kissed celebrity butt

    1. @kelliknows- I agree; yeah right that Osbourne stayed out of the drama! She's the reason it got so out of control to begin with. I think the big concern now is whether the scandal will have a so-called "chilling effect" on their speech. The whole point of the show is to make fun of people and not be scared of offending others. Joan didn't give a shit. I don't think anyone would care if she had said this, nor do I think she'd apologize for saying it. It was a joke and that was her job!

    2. They could get the Honey Badger to make a guest appearance (like the smoking Rottweiler on Conan) because we all know - Honey Badger don't give a shit.

  6. They'll hire Khloezilla to replace Kelly because TFP and The Soup were the only shows left that didn't stink of Kuntrashian.

  7. I love KG and I have a hard time believing this.

  8. Only do the shows after big award red carpets. Joan's not around to carry the load on slow weeks.
Those hangers-ons + Kathy can't handle the weekly/daily grind without her.

  9. I don't know who I dislike more, KG or Sara Silverman. I just don't find either one funny in the least and way overboard being obnoxious. Somehow that worked for Joan but with those 2..it ain't happening.
I also have a hard time believing Kelly 'walked away' from anything. If nothing else I would place money on her being a major instigator.

    1. I don't find Sara funny either..Not.At.All.

    2. I found KG a little funny on a New Years Eve broadcast last year with Anderson Cooper, but then she went overboard. And Sara Silverman? Nope, not funny at all. But my BFF spent a weekend hanging out with her and said shes funny, and really nice. Figure that one out.

  10. Kelly Osborne would Nevah..walk away from a paycheck her mama taught her better hmmph. . But then mama said Kelly can't be bought. .yeah right.. Kelly wanted Joan seat and was pissed when she didn't get it. It was also pointed out on one of the other entertainment shows that the 1st fp With Kathy, Kelly was seated next to kg Then the last few she moved to the end and guilliana Was next to kg. So some already infighting with the hierarchy from the jump..either kg Wanted her bumped to the end or guilliana did. .

I want the chrisely Dad from chrisely knows best..he would be funny. .

And if the roles were reversed Joan would have been going after the job from the jump too..

    1. Here's an excerpt from Blind Gossip:

“Kelly thought being the squeaky wheel would get her a bigger role and more money. She was wrong.” Being a jerk behind the scenes was one thing. But Osbourne made the fatal mistake of turning on the show and on her costars in a very public way. The producers decided that they had had enough. “The whole production team was sick of her, her big ego, and her bitchy attitude.” She had to go.

E! decided that they were going to fire her on Friday (the day that all publicists prefer when they want to announce bad news). However, Osbourne got wind of their plans… and quit an hour before she was to be fired!

The Osbourne family is very PR savvy, and if Kelly had really intended to make some sort of bold statement about racism by quitting, her publicist would have advised her to do so on a Monday to garner as much publicity as possible. Instead, “she quit [on a Friday] only to prevent the humiliation of being fired by E!”

The producers were a little disappointed that she beat them to the punch… but they are ultimately relieved that their Kelly Osbourne nightmare is now over and that they do not have to deal with her any more.

  11. Kelly probably approved the joke in rehearsal knowing that she would use it as a reason to quit. Im pissed because I've been enjoying it with Kathy and Brad. If it's true that names they are considering are NeNe (who is why I stopped watching RHOA) and gross Khloe who sucked miserably on the Oscar red carpet, I won't even give it a single chance. The other name, I mix up the MTV girls, is it Lauren Conrad or the other one? I'd give her a try because I don't know her but she seems to be serious about fashion, I think? Bottom line is, I don't hate her yet so I'll give her a shot lol.
Kelly was definitely reading cue cards with knowledgable details about "an expensive laser cut dress" (I was shocked at first, then I realized she's reading), but I liked what she added with Joan. Now she seems bitchier and laughing at different jokes than before. Bye Felicia.

  12. I find this every hard to believe but if there is any truth in it, the show is done.

"Griffin reportedly wants Melissa Rivers gone"

Um hello Melissa is an executive producer. She'll be doing the firing, n'est-ce pas?
Though she is not the sole executive producer or senior producer. I guess it would be up to E! but you push Melissa out that is going to be the last straw for Joan's Rangers.

  13. FP has had a lot of fabulous guests on the show, I have to believe they could so better than the two names floating at this time. I'd even find Laura Conrad a viable choice.

  16. How could Kathy Griffin want Melissa Rivers gone? It's her god damn show.

What a mess!! I am dying that Wendy Williams is on hiatus this week.

First off, the more I read about potential replacements, the more likely I am to NEVER watch a single program on E! ever ever again. I already hate the powers that be for changing Style to Esquire and making my beloved Jerseylicious go off into the great abyss of unfinished TV shows.

But seriously: a Kardashian?! Amber Rose?! Nene?!?!?! What the serious fuck? Way to class up the joint, E! Why would a spectator watch any of these F-list people critique Hollywood royalty. Just, why? You already have Kathy Griffin who has absolutely no fashion street cred. She was better on the Oscars telecast. She seemed to have actually prepared for that one.

The bottom line is: Joan Rivers, love her or hate her, was a class act and was a perfectionist. She is irreplaceable. This show should have been put to bed when she died. A fashion panel show is a fabulous idea, but I think it should be a new name, a new set and a new cast of characters.

Giuliana and Brad are good. I think Brad is really good. I think Stacy London would have made a great host. I love the idea of Naomi Campbell or Chrissy Teigen (even though she's not my cup of tea). But I do think they need some diversity on the panel.

  17. Sounds to me like cindy adams has her own agenda. And of course it doesnt sound believable griffin wants melissa gone, shes her boss!!!!!!

  18. Wasn't FP Joan's baby?? They really should've just canceled the show out of respect for her. She was the only one worth watching anyway.

  19. If a kardash comes on the show, I'm done with FP.

I love kg but will not watch a ok.

My opinion is kg was challenging to grancic and in turn, grancic upped her game. She was unprepared for what true backlash feels like and didn't check herself. Kg knows what venom feels like and has paid her dues to have her opinion.

Also, kathy's hair looked like shit on that episode. Weird wisps every which way. I missed the zendaya thing on first watch because I was so befuddled with kgs dis-tress

  20. I think Kelly saw the writing on the wall and booked. Of all of them she doesn't need the money.

Yeah KG's wig was awful the other night. What was that all about?

    Sorry I don't like Brad.

Giuliana could carry the show but she's so thin right now it's scary.

The minute I heard about that huge contract the Trashian's signed with E! I had a feeling one of them would end up on FP. It was just a matter of who would walk the plank first.
Nene? Puh-leese. Lauren who? Amber Rose? Not really. I really think the best would've been Stacey London and Clinton Kelly but they've both got their own gigs going now.

If any of the people mentioned end up on the panel that's it for me. I won't watch another show.
