Don't stand as close as possible to the person in front of you while you are checking out somewhere. Makes me crazy!!! And don't stand so close to the elevator doors as are opening, There is a reasonable chance someone is going to be coming off.
Oh I hate the people that push their damn cart in your back, I can't move any more forward because I haven't paid for my groceries yet loser, are you so important you are in that much of a hurry
I am hyper-conscious about space and giving others PLENTY of it! I really am not a "whiner" but one more thing is when you walk up to get something off the shelf and someone is just nose deep in the items so much so that you can't even get close to getting what you need. I'm just like amazed at that behavior... as though nobody else might want to get something from that same spot. I just stand there and stare a hole in the back of their head.
Reading/listening to/watching things you don't think you'll like (or even strongly disagree with) on a regular basis. It expands your mind and expands your taste.
It's all about the golden rule! Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
It's not about - What would Jesus Do? It's more like - How would you like to be treated period? Simple really and no need to drag your notion of religion into it.
Speaking of thank-yous, I love a hand-written thank-you card upon receiving a gift. I think this is a must! I also always wrote thank-you cards after job interviews.
Smiling and/or saying hello to a stranger while out. I always feel nice when someone does that, I'd imagine others do too. It really doesn't take much energy at all to be nice, and acknowledge another person. I try my best do remember to do this while out.
Every time you bring something new into your home (whether a shirt, a book, or a boyfriend), get rid of something old and worn out at the same time. Don't let stuff accumulate and suck your energy. Get Rid Of It.
@Bingo - YESSSS. such a simple concept for helping to keep your place clutter free. My parents are such pack rats and when they moved, they moved into a much smaller house. It amazes me how difficult it is for some people to let go of ordinary objects that they don't actually need or ever use.
Strive to be aware of (and control) how much importance you put on material possessions.
Saying please and thank you, ffs!!!!!

Manners!
ReplyDeleteMaking a checklist for the day. I swear by this. It is how I get 1,000 things done each day.
ReplyDeleteI also am a big fan of using proper grammar, especially while texting my teen-aged students!!
Waving a "thank you" when someone lets your car into their lane.
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm religious about doing it and get a tiny bit miffed when someone doesn't do it to me.
DeleteAgreed..Traffic here sucks and I let people in when they indicate they need to (as in a turn signal). Least you could do is to wave thank you.

ReplyDeleteRe:manners-Continuing a phone call or texting whilst being served in any retail enviroment is the worst.Very rude
