Clean the places out and fumigate them, then reload with people who will do the job they are elected to do - represent the people's interest and then go home after a term or two and live under the laws they made.

From a Canadian perspective though I think the founding fathers structured the US government so that it is not flexible enough in this modern age - I understand they were so paranoid by the British but all their checks and balances to avoid corruption and usurption of power, hello, is that working, really?
DeleteThe fact that is almost impossible for a third party to make a serious challenge on the two established parties is very sad. Americans need a sane middle of the road party IMO but you need billions of dollars to even have a shot of making a challenge.
At least with the Parliamentary system the candidates do not need that kind of money to run so they are less beholden to special interests and our rules also stop a lot of that.
And we have had new parties that have started from nothing and made a difference in the political landscape, like universal healthcare came from our socialist party the NDP.
