Waiting for LadyH to rave about Aaron. Where are you sweetie? I am going out on a limb and guessing you own all the BrBa? My husband would kill for that.
Who wouldn't want to luxuriate in all those cookies? I've resisted those little Devils outside the Safeway. So far.
This is my daughter's first year out of Girl Scouts. I refuse to cave in and buy any cookies (struggling to be healthy). Instead, I bought cookies and had them donated to a friend's husband's squadron stationed in Japan. Still craving Samoa's though, damnit!
@Tacky Fries - That was a great idea. I'd have had to cave and buy at least a few boxes of thin mints for my freezer. I'll bet your friend's husband's squadron had a shrine constructed for you for that!
I read recently that they had changed the thin mint recipe. I don't remember why but my friend also said they didn't taste the same. If you want some cracked out delicious chocolate mint cookies, get the chocolate dipped mint Oreos. Those things are satanically good.
Very cool, Tacky!! I just bought a box of Girl Scout thin mints and it cost me $4.00!!! And there were maybe 20 cookies in the box!!! Keebler makes their own thin mints called Grasshopper and they are exactly how I remember the Girl Scout cookies!! (And they were half the price!!!)
What GOML? I got a text from my friends mom who asked me to tell the Opster that his GS cookies are in and he owes her $10 for 2 boxes! Why are ours more expensive? Is grandma getting a commission? Now I wished he'd bought the Samoas.
Sherry, from what I've been told, the different prices are reflective of the folks that bake the cookies (factories), in each part of the country. Cookies here just increased $0.50 this year to $4.00. GOML--omg, we used to have the best troop leader (until the military transferred her family). The girls ACTUALLY got to put their money to use. One year, after donating some to local charities and doing a few "small" things together, my daughter and her troop went to Great Wolf Lodge over spring break. Definitely a lot of memories made on that trip, and it's something my daughter will remember forever.
Thanks for the love, everybody! These ended up going directly to the friend's husband bc she's a troop leader. However... PSA TIME: If you see the scouts out and about selling cookies you can buy some and donate to the "troop to troop" program. They will be shipped for you to troops overseas. There is also the the "gift of caring" program you can donate to. This varies, as each troop can choose their charity of choice. My daughter's troop had chosen the Ronald McDonald house. St Jude (awesome charity as well, and local) wasn't able to accept due to allergy restrictions of some of the kids, but RMH was able to take. The girls got to deliver them themselves. Warm fuzzier all around!

I'd wager that Aaron clocked in at a solid 8.5/10 on the how high was he when posting this scale.
DeleteLOL @Sherry Pinkboo surrounded in my favorite cookies definitely made my day!!!

DeleteTacky, how kind of you. I'll bet the squadron loves you.
ReplyDeleteLadyH I knew you'd be here! Yay.
Haha, that was my first thought, too.
ReplyDeleteMr bought some Samoas and Thin Mints from our neighbor's daughter. I have to say, they do not taste like they used to. :/
Tacky, you are awesome!

DeleteShoot - for the price we're paying for Girl Scout cookies, we better be funding these youngsters to go to college!!!

Thank you Tacky for that information. I try and do whatever I can to help our troops.
