  2. I saw that early this morning. Tried to post it, but Blogger ate my post after about 5 minutes. ANARCHY!!

She was 81, bless her, and by all accounts, a nice, kind person.

    Rest in Peace, Donna.

  3. She was also in a Twilight Zone ep ("eye of the beholder" where she was in the hospital bandaged up to fix her 'deformities', great ep)
    RIP beautiful Donna

  4. She was so good as Elly May. I don't think anyone else could have used a double-barrel slingshot the way she did.

One of the all-time greatest interviews I've ever seen was when Donna Douglas, Buddy Ebsen, and Max Baer, Jr., all appeared together on Donahue. It was rowdy, it was bawdy, and it was just fun to watch. You could tell they had a lot of fun on that set.

    1. Ah Phil Donahue, a real talk show and a real talk show host. Everyone loved Elly May. RIP.

  5. I watched this as a kid because my parents loved it, but of all the american imports I loved The Munsters the best.

  6. She was - as they say in certain parts - "good people." She was very focused on her faith and according to one biography on Elvis that I read, one of the handful of women to turn his married ass down.

    RIP.

    1. Extra good for her!! Ugh, my mom worked for a man who was stationed with him when he went into the army. Told my mom that every night Elvis was snuck out so that he could have a good 'ol time with the local ladies of the evening and then snuck back in.
Sorry to take an OT turn but holy hell, at the time all of the girls who fell for his "aw shucks" good ol boy act and waiting for him to return home from the horrors of war...yeah. Being played for fools.
So again, Good for Donna saying a big fat NO.
      Happy New Year Guido :)

    2. According to the Prsicilla Autobiography - which never mentions Col Tom by name or inference or deed, hm..... - he had a real madonna/whore complex. Remember a teenage Priscilla was with him in Germany. So he'd have dinner with her and then eff the hooker for desert.

Once P birthed a baby she alleges he never touched her again the line out the door for others became a very heavy burden.

Oh and he thought her neck was too long. She was forced to wear turtlenecks and those ginormous collars he favored to "make it look small." Yep, drug addicted E had a neck fixation.

    3. Happy New Year, Bacon. How was the lasagne?

    4. Yikes on the neck thing. Geez louise, nothing like grooming ( and he totally groomed Priscilla) into having just awful plastic surgery to this day. I fully blame her parents for allowing that to happen.
The lasagne was pretty much a bust, waste of ingredients :) I need to stick with what I know, breakfast for dinner. I'm good with eggs and hashbrowns.
      How about you?

    6. And Priscilla took a very high road by not commenting on him whatsoever. When I read the book is was a real WTF?! moment to realize he wasn't memorialized in the pages. Her book is as interesting for what isn't there (Col T) as it is for what is there (E had a neck thing).

Bacon, you can do a lasagne. Patience lass. And when you conquer it you will feel like a champ. I don't care what anyone sez, boil those noodles to al dente perfection and then cold water/oil them. They need it.

It's layers. Simple layers. you can do it! ~Resident Guido

PS I ruined a box of fettucine last night. I got engrossed in a game and forgot about em. Ooops, paste. It happens. Good thing noodles are cheap and easy to compost.

  7. Man I would love to see that epi of Donahue, Bally. Nice to know she wasn't spoiled by H'wd and end up a mess. May she rest in peace.

  9. RIP Donna.

I heard that Elvis never touched Priscilla again once she gave birth several years ago. I'm surprised she put it in her book. I bet she didn't touch on the incest rumors about him though.

  10. I absolutely loved The Beverly Hillbillies and Elly May was one of my first crushes (you have to remember it was in reruns by the time I watched it as a kid in the 80's, so she was a bit too old for me then lol) I love how she took the part of Elly that had her love animals to heart and she became a keeper and provider for all the animals she did. That alone will get her wings when she passes through the Pearly Gates (as long as she stays away from fishing in the "cement pond")

Side note. If they ever make a new version of it, i have the perfect person in mind to play Elly, she's gorgeous, from the south, loves animals and generally looks the part (and was a tomboy for the longest time IRL) just Google Brandie Moses (but a lot of her work is NSFW) but she is the spitting image IMO.
