Chris Rock Divorce Turns Nasty

Chris Rock's divorce filing was just announced, and things are already turning nasty! In the divorce filing obtained by TMZ, Rock claims that his wife Malaak has been preventing him from seeing his two daughters. The Rocks do have a prenup, but it may be expired due to the length of their union. The couple have been working toward the split since November when they began identifying their community property. Rock also seems to be paving the way to lowering any spousal support; he points out in the filing that Malaak is "(able) to work and contribute to her own support."

    More prenups have fidelity clauses too with penalties for breach of said promise of fidelity, I say go for it. That's almost a no brainer.

    Whatever she wants, she's earned it, so he'd better give it to her.

    Also, unless she's been gainfully employed throughout the duration of the marriage, that shit won't fly in court.

      Looks like Malaak is a pretty accomplished woman, see here. That being said, she works in the non-profit realm, so she could be making a little or a lot, depending on how all that is structured. Regardless, Rock should suck it up and open his check book. I have a feeling she deserves it.

    Just pay her and have her sign a nda and get joint custody man.. she put up with your shit long enough and she is beloved in Hollywood. .
    even mel Gibson knew to juse bend over and give Robin half because she'd earned it and because she's so beloved in Hollywood
    I can't believe I'm saying take notes from mel Gibson but even he knew when to shut up and sign away half and smile dammit. .

    Malaak works as some sort of life coach and heads a charity that helps women get work clothes etc. she probably makes good money but not like he makes. As long as he takes care of the children and she has a house, what more do u want? And why is she keeping him from kids? Sounds a bit vindictive to me. When will people learn its more important to love your children more than you hate each other? And Malaak seems ok, but i dont know she's so called beloved in hollywood. Keeping him from kids cld also be code for he's moved on and i dont want my girls near the other woman. Sad every which way.

    Remember that time Chris Rock so eloquently said that "a man is only as faithful as his options?" His options and his head probably grew exponentially...I wonder who his new option is and how long that will last!

    I wonder which BIs KJE will craft as reveals to fit Chris Rock.

    Also, I wish things like divorce filings were not public and obtainable by people like TMZ. A divorce is a very private and often painful, if not acrimonious, thing. Which, of course, is TMZ's bread and butter.

    Are they based in CA or NY? Does NY have the same 10 year clause that CA has? He should just give her half and move on. There are some rumors that he is seeing Rosario Dawson.

      I think he filed in NJ (I don't know why I think that - maybe I read it somewhere?) but I know I've surpassed the Magic#10 in CA, so I'm good.

      They were going to divorce several years ago but the paperwork was never filed and they decided to work it out for the kids.

      She actually filed in 2006 or 2008, but I think she withdrew the petition.

    I read he had the divorce drawn up in 2006 but never filed it because of the payout he'd have to make. It was suppose to drop significantly after 18 years so he waited it out. I also read he was seeing Rosario Dawson (Foxella - I think is where I read this). No promises whether or not it's true.

    If he was a decent human being - and clearly he isn't - he would take the following into consideration:
    1) She is the mother of his children; and
    2) She is entitled to the lifestyle in which she has become accustomed (most judges will see it that way too);
    3) By speaking out he's making himself look like a fool ... any decent gentleman would keep his mouth shut.
