The Interview Cleans Up
With its release called into question, The Interview was finally made available online on Christmas Eve, only to become Sony's top grossing online movie release of all time. The Huffington Post reports that the movie generated more than $15 million dollars in its first four days of release. That figure it sure to grow, as The Interview has finally been made available to both rent and purchase on iTunes.
Meh, word of mouth isn't that good. They won't come anywhere near making back their money. The only upside is that they didn't have to spend much of their designated publicity budget.
ReplyDeleteOh! And there are now reports that suggest it was a hack instigated/assisted by a former employee. The patriotic 'we won't let N. Korea bully us. Let's go see the movie' sentiment won't be a factor in sustaining an audience.

ReplyDeletePr stunt to launch sony online movies sales division and setup the future layoff for 2600 employees that were already earmarked for pinkslip anyway..
