Sofia Vergara Engaged to Joe Manganiello
Sofia Vergara, 42, is currently vacationing in Hawaii with boyfriend Joe Manganiello, 38, to celebrate both Christmas and Joe's Birthday. On Christmas Day, Manganiello proposed to Vergara in front of her family. The couple started dating in July of this year, shortly after Vergara broke up with Nick Loeb. The Daily Mail has the exclusive pictures of the ring.

DeleteMy mother and father met in February and married in May of that year. They stayed married for over 50 years until her death.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure people these days are as thoughtful about marriage. It's too easy both mentally and legally to end a marriage.
Vergara and Manganiello are certainly old enough to make sound decisions, but their celebrity status has to deduct at least 10 years off their mental/emotional age. Five months is (generally) a pretty short time for relationships. You're still on your best behavior and so is he. You're still laughing at all his jokes. The things he does are still endearing and cute, but in a few more months, those jokes will be irritating and those same habits will drive you right up a tree. It's all fun and games when he doesn't change the empty toilet paper roll or leaves an empty milk glass to crust up in the sink at first, but soon, very soon...
Exactly Karen. They are (or should be) in the sex multiple times a day, head over heels crazy gaga about each other phase. Personally I think its smart to let that part wear off and go through some not so fun/mundane day to day stuff before getting married.
DeleteOmar, you're right. You don't really know what you're getting into until you've argued, resolved differences, compromised, faced a crisis and seen the uglier side of someone. That's the hard stuff. You also have to experience the crazy in love to "you're kind of a jerk" gamut and circle back again.

Well even when our parents were young that was a risky proposition but the attitude towards marriage and divorce was totally different. A lot of guys got married quickly before going off to war in WWII.
DeleteNow people get married without thinking it through because they know they can get divorced and no real social stigma anymore, get divorced if they have the least bit of a rough patch rather than working it through or just living it through to the bitter end even if you are miserable
Don't forget you need to take one vacation together before committing to marriage or try living together.... LOL

ReplyDeleteI liked him in the first couple of seasons of True Blood but then he went all Mr Workout Dude and he was everywhere flexing his muscles and talking about protein shakes and egg white omelettes. I have no patience for people so obsessed with their body and diet that every conversation or interview must have at least one mention of carb loading and cheat days.

I remember when he first started True Blood and he was doing a lot of interviews. I saw him on something (maybe Ellen) and he was going on and on about his (then) fiancée and how they were making wedding plans. Suddenly he blows up on True Blood and I never heard another word about his fiancée. It made it look like he got this blast of fame and he just dumped her. Kind of wondered about what ever happened to her. Plus they have ZERO chemistry. They might be pretty to look at but they don't look legit at all to me, they look totally uncomfortable together and phony.
