What's going on in your world today?

  1. So, I'm spending my time making dog food today. No, really. I'm making dog food. I've got 4 dogs that are either old, have sensitive stomaches, have finicky eating habits or just like to torture me. I make my own and have found I have more eager eaters, less weight gain and less gassiness/diahhrea (sorry to be so graphic). That means I don't have to clean that crap up. Aren't you glad you asked?

    2. I make my own too (which we blend in with Eukanuba) ... I use mussels or pipis, rice, mince, rice, a few little spices ... our Labs go crazy for it.

    3. Sugar & Stepforded: We bought really good and pricey dog food (canned & kibbles). We have two inhalers who would eat anything, an older dog with a sensitive stomach, and a picky Lab that would sometimes refuse to eat.

My recipe depends on what I have on hand or what is on sale (chicken, pot roast, etc.). Typically, I put in either ground beef (that's getting expensive) or I cook chicken and cube it or grind it up. I buy bulk chicken liver and cook that, then chop it. I add cooked rice. Then fresh veggies: green beans, carrots, butternut squash are favorites - I just look for seasonal stuff that's safe for dogs. I typically make between a 20 and 25 pound batch. Vacuum pack in 5-6 pound packages and freeze them.

I have dog food cookbooks, but this is a mix that everyone seems to enjoy. Even the lab is bouncing around in anticipation of feeding time. Everyone is at a healthy weight now, the older dogs are much more lively and I think they are utilizing the calories and nutrition in the food more efficiently -- way less yard waste (if you know what I mean).

I also make liver bread for their snacks instead of giving them that made in China poisonous stuff. I use chicken liver. Find that recipe herehttp://dogaware.com/diet/treats.html They LOVE it.

    1. Wow! Hadn't heard that. The TMZ story says:

"In her divorce docs ... Pacheco says they have a prenup, but adds it should be torn up because it was based on fraud. There's no further detail about what she means by "fraud."

Well, I think we can all take a guess at what 'fraud' will turn out to mean.

It also says that she's demanding that "he return her stolen passport, birth certificate and SS card."

This doesn't sound like the amicable split and we'll remain close friends and co-parents bust-up

    3. The first or second episode of the most recent series of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles had Renner's ALLEGED real-life lover on it ... he was blonde and claiming to be a developer of sorts; was dealing with those annoying Brit agents.

  6. Long-ass day. Woke up at 4:30 a.m. to catch flight. Stuck now in Dallas. Eventually will get to drive 3 hours home. Whoop whoop.

  7. @auntliddy, I hate it, too! I only do sheets on the weekends so SO will change them for me. The bed is freaking huge and it takes me forever. He's former military and can make a bed so neat a quarter will bounce off of it! (I pay him back with my fabulous cooking and other wink-wink-nudge-nudges, haha)

I finally finished the editing of a piece I've been working on for ages and hit the send button. Then I blanked my mind out and wrote today's KJE piece, which - I kid you not - is like KJE's version of Bachelor Party in Mexico.

And for NYE, SO is taking me to my favourite Mexican restaurant, then we're going home and binge watching something, probably Breaking Bad or GoT (again) or whatever movies we find. \0/

  9. Moving on to book #4 in my group of five brought up to Blanc Debris. And we're having a massive wind storm. Feel like the roof is blowing off Blanc Debris which it most likely is. Intermittent power. Good news is that OP thought he had a class he'd have to drive back down to SF area but it's been pushed out another week. No 6 hour drive.

  10. Into my latest entertainment themed read (thank you Santa). Top of the Rock, Inside The Rise And Fall Of Must See TV.

I'm loving it and keep stopping to google the actors that almost ended up playing all the iconic characters.

  12. I'm back in at the office after a full week off. Only 1/3 of people are here; it's the calm before the storm. I am looking for an excuse to take off early.

  13. Anybody looking for something fun to do New Years Eve, at 9:45 p.m. TCM is showing the greatest rock movie of all time, The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night." If you've never seen it before you should watch it (or at least record it). And if you have seen it before, well, you know what I'm saying is the truth. Waaaaay better than Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin, or Ryan Seacrest, or any of the dozen other losers on the networks.

  14. I've been pruning the roses (am covered in scratches all over from the little buggers), and went out and bought a new BBQ (an orange Jamie Oliver one!) for a wee New Year's Eve shindig we're having tonight. I'm just having a few mins' downtime before heading out to the supermarket to stock up on food, drink and painkillers.

    1. Pleased to hear that you're back home safe and sound.
I love Melbourne - have lived there on and off a bit over the years - and will look forward to tuning into Ahron Young's coverage on SKY News of all the festivities over there ... will no doubt feel jealous I'm not there! :-)

    3. Thanks Stepforded - i was born & bred in melb so to me it's home, just too pricey for us to live there, so we're an hour away (car or train) in the country!
Califblondy - I'm feeling & looking like garbage. Still not sure if i feel like getting dressed. Or even going. They pumped me so full of fluid in hossie im a beach ball.
