Years ago I popped into a dry cleaners in my Greenwich Village neighborhood on the way to the laundromat. I had my little-old-lady pushcart with my laundry bag in it parked right outside the door while I dropped off a few items to be cleaned. I heard a woman bellowing angrily outside, further up the street, which is not entirely out of the ordinary for NYC so I didn't think much of it.
The shouting grew closer and moments later a very hostile woman shoved my laundry cart in through the front door of the dry cleaners. I ran to the door to rescue my cart from the crazy lady, and when I looked up I saw that it was Elizabeth Hurley. Evidently she was there shooting "Mickey Blue Eyes" and my cart was in the shot. No apology, nothing...she just bustled off up the street in a huff!
I have never had a bad celebrity encounter (unless you count Slash's wife snapping at me, but whatever), but I forgot to mention in the best celebrity encounter thread of meeting David Selby! He was best known for playing Quentin Collins on the old soap opera "Dark Shadows." My mom got me hooked on reruns of the show when I was in ninth grade, it was such an awesome show, so bad it was good. Addicting! So we went to a "Dark Shadows" convention in NYC for a fun mom-and-daughter trip. They had a celebrity meet-and-greet, and my mom brought her old scrapbook she had kept as a kid when the show was first on. She got a migraine that day, so she stayed in the hotel room and I went down by myself to get the scrapbook signed. All the actors signed it, but David Selby really took the time to look and chat with me and the lady behind me about it and wrote that it was "a treasure" to my mom. He was so nice! The best celebrity encounter I've had by far. I can't believe I forgot about that in the other thread. :)
Clare Danes. Rude little bitch, then when she found out the reason I was on set is because I was friends with one of the producers suddenly she was all smiles. This is pre-Homeland, so I can only imagine what a twat she acts like now. Also the actress with the eye patch from that Tarantino movie - the one with Rose Mcgowen with the machine gun leg. She's blonde, like I said had an eye patch in the film - nasty little jerk IRL. But where is she now lol
I wrote last week that my worst celeb encounter was with Huey Lewis, but I didn't expound on it. I was about 15, and had just seen him in concert. We happened to be staying in the same hotel near the coliseum, and my friend and I saw him walking down the hall and asked if we could get his autograph. He did stop, but seemed perturbed. He also reeked of pot, not that I cared. The nasty thing was that I wanted to say something to him, and all I came up with was, "Do you think you'll ever come back here to play?" In a really annoyed tone, he replied, "I SAID I would while I was on stage." There were other people around him at the time asking for autographs, and his reply made me feel embarrassed. I think that might have been the last time I asked anyone for an autograph!
Second story is kinda typical of radio and singers. I worked at a radio station all through my 20's, and the only rude person I observed was Lindsey Buckingham. My radio station pissed him off because they brought him in for an interview, but then wouldn't play the single he was promoting because it didn't fit our format. After the interview, he stormed out in a huff. I can't say I blame him. Not sure what he's normally like. He may be as sweet as pie.
It was just in concert, but Anthony Kiedis acted like a douche. Some people were smoking pot, duh Colorado. He went on a tirade about how he was sorry they weren't getting them high enough with their music. Flea tried to save it with a story about getting arrested for posession in Colorado. But the mood totally shifted in the room. He wouldn't talk anymore hid out of sight and left the stage early. I love his music and get that he is a douche, but it was enlightening to see it first hand. Lost my lady boner for sure.
I saw Duran Duran a few years ago on 4/20 in Denver. I tweeted to Simon about a month earlier that everyone was going to be stoned at the show because it was "pot day". It took a lot of back and forth tweets for him to understand what I was saying. He finally said, "Oh, why didn't you just say the 20th of April?" I laughed and said we don't speak that way. I realized I confused him because they write the month/day instead of day/month in England. Anyway, the show went on, and I can't remember if Simon mentioned anything that night about knowing it was 4/20, but John Taylor tweeted about it the next day. He said he'd never smelled so much pot at a show before, and that he was still recovering from his contact high.
I seriously didn't smell any pot, and I was right up front near John. Lol.
Most annoying celeb encounter was probably Janet Jones (now married to Wayne Gretsky). I was working in a salon in Denver and we got a call that some HUGE actress was coming in to get some sculptured nails put on. I was the only one with an opening so they booked her with me. She came strolling in 30-45 minutes late and everyone is looking at her like who the fuck are YOU??? This was shortly before A Chorus Line and The Flamingo Kid came out.
LOL! I don't remember who the hell she is although I did see The Flamingo Kid when it came out. Speaking of which, my co-worker kissed Matt Dillon when they were teens (and neighbors). She said he was nothing special. :-)
@Julie - Exactly! She was a nobody who acted like she was Elizabeth Taylor or something. When she told me she was "starring" in a movie with Matt Dillon (Flamingo Kid) I was like yeah sure you are. I was completely amazed when the movie came out and she was indeed in it. She also said she was suppose to (possibly) be in some flick with Mel Gibson but I don't think that ever happened. She was just so full of herself and nobody in the salon knew who she was.
She was in a couple of movies and fell off the map. I have NO IDEA how she hooked up with Gretzky because that wedding was alluded to as the Canadian Royal Wedding (because they worship the fuck outta him there). Their daughter is such an incredible embarrassment (she probably learned all that shit from her starfucker mom).

God she sat there and name dropped the whole time and went on and on about her fiancé Vince - blah blah blah!!! Next thing I know she's snagged Gretsky.....she was a shitty tipper too. Betch!
