When I looked at it last night and this morning, it was totally white and gold. But then I was in the car with my boyfriend and they were talking about it on the radio, so I pulled out my phone to show it to him and it was suddenly blue and black. But he still saw it as white and gold.
This is a different picture. BOTH..One has blue and vlack and the other was white and gold and why is becoming something? Are we all that bored (as a species not the people who comment here)????
When I first look at it, I see it as white and gold dress and then as my eyes adjust I see the blue and black (I think only because I was told those are the actual colors though).
I have seen the dress worn at some wedding and it is blue and black but I noticed the store that carries it also has this dress in black and White. I suspect there is a gold and white version out there, and April 1st has just come early.
All I have to say is, white balance is important! Lol. I really thought it was white and gold. Looking at it i could tell it was too warm and the highlights were blown but damn. I turned my phone slightly and it looked blue and black, now when i look at it, it registers blue and black. It's so weird though.
I've seen three versions of this photo, so far. The first was very bright, and it looked white and gold. The second is the one above, and it, to me, appears to be powder blue (or baby blue) and brown. The third is the darkest, and it is obviously blue and black.
This whole thing was started by some singer who posted the first photo to her Tumblr, so I'm guessing she and some friends (or her team) put all three pics out there and started this whole controversy, hoping to draw some attention to the singer's career.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the seller of the dress were also involved somehow.
My favorite new conspiracy theory is this whole thing was started to divert people's attention away from yesterday's net neutrality vote. If so, it worked.
I see three different versions too. The first was white and gold. Earlier today I saw the online photo of the dress and it was black and blue. This one looks lavender and bronze. If you get into the science of colors and why/how we see them it's quite fascinating. I wonder if an alien species ever came to our planet and had different retinas if all our colours would be different to them? Sorry that's weird, I don't know why my brain went there....
I like the way you think Katydid. I' e always been curious how scientists can tell that a particular animal can see in different colors. My husband can tell green and red but he cannot see it like me due to his color blindness. I'd red is nestled in green forgeddaboutit.
Do other creatures (from this planet or not) see colors the way we do? How do we know if they do? I've always wondered how cats and dogs actually see the world. I've heard they see in black and white, and I've heard they see in color. How can they tell?
I have seen three different versions of this picture too. I am looking at them on my 27" monitor, and all I can say is--WTF? It's a dress...who cares what color it is? It isn't anything spectacular...just an ordinary rather ugly dress.
For the record....it is white and gold on both my PC and my phone. The only time I have seen it blue and black is the original picture and the one with all three photos showing what is supposed to be the optical differences. My theory is that it is massed produced and came in a variety of colors and someone is sitting back and messing with our heads, hoping for hits on a site that pays them for views.
I thought what's the issue, clearly the dress is black and blue. But for 1 second it morphed and I saw it as white and gold, amazing… then it went back to black and blue and that's all I can see now. I took a break, went back to it, it was white and gold for 1 second, then back to blue and black. I'm done with the white and gold now.
It must have to do with the screen or shading. Last night on tv I saw a story on this and I could only see white and gold and didn't understand what the fuss was. On this site this morning I can only see blue and black. I don't get it.
Really, if this is the biggest shit in your day, I envy you. Who the f(ck cares? I can't believe, with everything going on in the world, that this is even a thing. Really? With photograph lighting and Photoshop, this is a thing? God help us all.
White and Gold, obviously
ReplyDeleteFuchsia and orange
ReplyDeleteI saw White and gold and Black and Blue. Im true G
ReplyDeleteI can't figure out how anyone can see white and gold. It's blue and brown. Is this like some version of color blindness?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I saw 7 - blue and brown. After looking at it I can see white and gold if in shadows, but no black anywhere!

ReplyDeleteI think it started on Twitter yesterday evening, then buzzfeed caught wind of it and now the whole world is debating the color wheel lol
DeleteI see lavender (or maybe lilac) and a really dark gold.

ReplyDeleteI don't understand how anyone can see the photo above and see blue and black, at all.

ReplyDeleteAll I see is an unfortunate looking dress
ReplyDeleteThe first time I saw it, I could kind of see both colours but now I keep seeing the blur and black really clearly.
ReplyDeleteI see dead people
ReplyDeleteI don't know what the debate is but pffff
