I don't get the point of him saying that (didn't watch, so maybe out of context?). Not all of us are model hot but everyone has potential. Look at all the H'wood people who try to mold themselves back into hotness and turn out looking like that plastic surgery cat lady. No thanks.
You should never tell your kid they are ugly - better ways of being honest - you should tell all your kids, good looking or not that they should develop their personalities because good looks can fade.
I agree I don't like you are a special snowflake type parents AND teachers, you know the ones that want you to pretend that competition and mean people don''t exist cause it is hard enough when you are fully aware, try being totally ignorant and trying to survive in the big bad world
Grandmas' get away with murder and saying offensive truths because deep down we know they are are devoted to us/our children.My lovely mum has blurted out all kinds of home truths,and is instantly forgiven because there's a strong undercurrent of love behind it :)

My sister was born with a double cleft palate and I have seen and heard kids and adults say thoughtless things and behave like complete morons in response to her difference in appearance. Inner beauty is priceless.
