Pee-Wee Herman Returning To The Movies

LAist reports that Pee-Wee Herman is making a new movie! Pee-Wee's Big Holiday will premiere on Netflix, and will be produced by both Pee-Wee aka Paul Reubens, and Judd Apatow. Netflix describes the film as follows:

"In Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, a fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger inspires Pee-wee Herman to take his first-ever holiday in this epic story of friendship and destiny."

  1. Why was it such a big deal back in the day, that the man was masturbating in a theater that plays porn? Yeah, it was in public, but isn't that the whole point of watching it?

    Totally agree, @Pip. I think the shock was b/c he was seen primarily as a children's performer and the salaciousness of it was juicy news fodder. I thought it was kinda gross (VCRs were still alive back then, IIRC, and video stores had back rooms, do that in your own house, 'kay?) but it was in an adult movie house where only adults go, not a regular movie theater screening Star Wars or something.

  9. Anyone else remember in - Cheech and Chong's Next Movie - where Pee Wee is the front desk clerk at the hotel C & C are staying at. Pee Wee calls the cops trying to get C & C arrested and he whispers into the phone - I think they're IRANIAN!

    We were undoubtedly high while watching that at the theater.
