  3. Very sad. I've no idea who he was, but it's very tragic.
Too many young men passing away this week. Rest in Peace to the Aussie cricketer Phil Hughes. 25 years old and killed in a freak accident doing what he loves.
    Awful.

  4. RIP. Popping pills is not a good way to go. :/

@IJU, I saw that this morning. What really impressed me was how the entire cricket league came together and talked about what a great guy he was and even cancelled games so the players could have a chance to process and grieve. I don't know if that speaks for his character or for the Aussie cricket league or both, but it was impressive. RIP, Philip.

    1. It is very impressive Seven. I'm particularly moved by the support for the guy who delivered the ball that cased the injury. (Sean Abbott I think??). It was a freak accident and in no way hos fault. The guilt must be awful but the way they've handled it is wonderful. I'm not a cricket fan, but I have a respect for the sport today.

    2. I agree it was all very damn classy and you could tell how tight all those guys were, they are all just so devastated. It is always sad when a younger person, esp one with just a bright future ahead of him or her, dies in a tragic accident and this one was freaky.

I got to see some high level cricket on a vacation many moons ago so my ears perk up when I hear about test matches and the like.

    3. There is so much support out there at the moment that is coming from all the different football codes. A local soccer game applauded at the 63rd minute last night in recognition of the number of runs Hughes had scored before that final ball. And people have begun leaning their cricket bat at the front door as a sign of respect which in turn became Google's picture of the day for us yesterday

  5. I remember him on The Real World. He had this girlfriend name Jemmy that was drunk and crying 24/7. He was struggling with addiction than as well. He should not have done Reality TV to begin with.

    1. What I think is interesting is how many of these reality show folks use these challenge shows as their occupation. How many of these people just float from show to show? I think Rob Mariano was on Survivor 200 times and The Amazing Race 75 times.

    2. @Karen W. I LOVE Boston Rob & Amber!!

(And yes, this is a career for those who work it! Instead of going back into the workforce, many make a living doing college speaking tours, random appearances, etc!)
