    1. He directed the Lord of the Rings SYF :) Among other things. Still pissed at him for not directing Narnia when offered the chance, he wanted to do his version of King Kong instead and TLTW&wardrobe SUCKED as a result. That's right Peter Jackson. I blame.You.

    2. Also made a star of Kate winslet by casting her in her first feature( I think) beautiful creatures. Amazing film.

    3. If by "Amazing" you mean "Disturbing as hell", I agree :) Based on a true story, no less.

Tx for splaying and the recommendation (sort of) Beautiful Creatures. I've heard of it, i watch it.
I enjoyed LOTR even tho I don't usually get excited about that genre. (It helped that Viggo looked soooo much like "somebody that I used to love" in that movie. (When I saw the ad for the movie I almost fainted or had a heart attack. - a guy I left at the alter -his image can scare the bedazzle out of a Gurl. )

    6. Heavenly creatures. I worked at a video store for far too much of my adult life, when such places still existed. I know too much about movies.

    7. My pleasure@SYF!
@Jeannie- I miss video stores, and renting movies like HC. I went to see it in a theatre, but many a great film was rented and deeply appreciated by this gal:)

    8. @ Bacon Ranch - Peter was originally set to do King Kong BEFORE Lord of the Rings, but it got pushed aside for LOTR. King Kong was always his pet project and he was determined to make it.

    9. You know, I think I heard that. I don't follow directors that much but you're right, it rings a bell. I was just hella mad that after he did such a great show with LOTR he didn't even try with the series I grew up with :( Liam Neeson as Aslan ? Gimme a break.

    10. I think it is Heavenly Creatures, not Beautiful Creatures.

  5. He also did The Lovely Bones and my favorite Michael J Fox movie (after Back to the Future) The Frighteners.

@SYF, wow, that would be something else! I love Viggo, just love him.

Fun fact: Andy Serkis (Gollum) voiced one of my favorite video game characters of all time, Monkey in Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. I was so mad when I found out they weren't going to do the promised sequel!

    1. Oh, I forgot District 9, that movie was insane!

    2. He didn't direct district 9 but I think he produced it and maybe "discovered" the director whose name is escaping me right now. He's from South Africa.

    3. The Frighteners was a great movie. Never could understand why it died (no pun intended) at the box office in 1996.

Now how about they give David Lynch his own star?

  8. I would love to be at THAT after party. He truly does deserve a star. Now isn't someone going to point out that Kaley Cuoco got a star BEFORE Peter Jackson? Let's Hope Spielberg, Stone and Marty Scorcese already have theirs.

  9. He is a brilliant talent. We antipodeans are very chilled. A huge side eye would be appropriate though!
