We can all believe in the power of true love again because Michael Lohan has wed his on-and-off girlfriend and pregnant mother of his sixth child, Landon, and soon-to-be seventh child. His other five children were not aware of the nuptials until after they'd taken place. Congrats to the happy couple!

ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone has gotten a straight story on what happened and since they are releasing all the evidence to the media the legal eagles will let us know if the grand jury did. I don't understand the US obsession with guns as a whole so I can't see how Americans are surprised that both cops and criminals are trigger happy.
ReplyDeleteSeeing the thugs looting and destroying the same story this kid smashed and grabbed from was rather well ironic. I just heard a black tv host from St. Louis talking to Canadian radio and she said the display last night just shows you why those communities need more police action not less.
Now my only counter to that is that black men in Toronto are being harrassed for no reason whatsoever other than being black, these are young men who have jobs and go to school and stay out of trouble. Now sad to say but in Toronto most of the violent crimes are black on black too, but there are about as many stabbings with knives as gun shot wounds.
I agree, Tina, that there is plenty of police harassment of black youth (and not-so-young) in Toronto but the level of systemic racism found in certain segments of the U.S. is very, very different from what we experience here. I'm not sure we can fully understand this situation but it doesn't take full comprehension to see that there is something seriously wrong with a mostly white police force in a mostly black town. I'm not suggesting the crime statistics would change but the inherent perception of racism would certainly be eliminated by employing a police force that is considerably more representative of the population they police.

Kate and Mikey were on one of the Celebrity Rehab shows and those two are toxic together. Maybe like attracts like but feel sorry for the offspring.
ReplyDeleteI just finished a music video last night that addresses the situation. I was super proud of it, but now I'm afraid the meaning will get lost because of the riots.
ReplyDeleteI will say though, revolutions are not pretty. If that's what people think they want, regardless of race, this is the harsh reality. Don't think that if a unarmed white boy was shot by a black officer in the south the outcome would be any different. We'll probably the officer would have been indicted. But if not, don't kid yourself that the brothers of the revolution would not be full on rioting and destroying, and I hate to say it, more than likely lynching. But we will brush it off and make ourselves feel better pretending it would never happen where we live. Well I don't have to pretend, police shot and killed and unarmed white guy in SLC with headphones on. He just didn't hear them tell him to stop and put his hands up, and bam end of story. Way more outrage and calls to action over the dog that got shot in its own yard.
You just know Michael is waiting for anyone of these kids to be old enough to push into acting so he'll have a talent of his own to manage. He has no marketable skills himself. And kate..What does SHE do besides drink, fight and pop out babies with this douche bag..Or Ass-balloon as so aptly put.
