All I Want For Christmas is a Ticket to A John Waters Christmas
John Waters is bringing his Xmas tour to a city near you! Yahoo Style recently sat down for an interview with Waters, where he revealed that the best type of Christmas gift is a book, and the worst is the Forrest Gump Soundtrack. The tour kicks off on November 29th in San Francisco.
He is one strange guy, the person Tim Burton WISHES he was.
ReplyDeleteI bet that show is more than worth the price of admission.
John Waters makes my creep-o-meter go off.
ReplyDeleteWhats he got against gump soundtrack? Saw him on bill maher, he was quite charming actually.
ReplyDeleteYea...there's something strangely interesting about Waters. I love watching interviews w/ him. Never a dull moment.
DeleteThe soundtrack was the only good thing about that movie.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone aside from me ever seen Desperate Living - a movie he had a good 25 years ago??? Most bizarre thing I have ever watched!! Way, way, way put there!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSigh...he had made and out there. Damn fat fingers!!!
ReplyDeleteI love John Waters. He was incredibly kind to me when I met him several years ago at one of his tours. Amazing to his fans. I know someone who is close with him, and try to pry out as much as I can about John ;)
ReplyDelete@get off my lawn- Yes, I have seen Desperate Living. I was scared of chickens for several years after that!
Lady H - thanks for confirming that movie does exist and I wasn't on some kind of a bad mushroom trip, lol!!
ReplyDeleteI fucking adore John Waters. Just love him. I live in SF Bay Area so may have to go. Gah I wish he were my best friend.

I'm a big fan of Waters as well. He had this show where he hosted stories about tragic marriages. I think it was called Till Death Do Us Part. Always wanted to see it but never did. Going to hunt it down now.
ReplyDeleteLove John Waters too. Jeff Garlin directed, My Filty World http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0844761/ He essentially filmed one of John's performances. Best line in the film (for me) was something like this: Check out the person you want to fuck. If they don't own books, then they don't read. Don't fuck them. Drop them. Never see them again.
ReplyDeleteThat launched a bit about the importance of reading, it was awesome.
At the Q&A afterwards, John and Jeff hauled in a shitload of stuff they were given during the festival and proceeded to give an item to each person who asked a question. I got a memory foam travel pillow :-)
I saw this last year and got lucky enough to snag a meet and greet after. He seemed so kind. Pretty good spoken word, best part was that he let the audience shout out questions for him to answer, hands down the best part of the show.
ReplyDeleteAnd he had a fabulous jacket on
