Update on Bobbi Kristina

Although paramedics were able to revive her yesterday, TMZ reports that she is not yet out of the woods. Yesterday afternoon, doctors placed her into a medically induced coma due to brain swelling. Her father Bobby Brown arrived at the hospital last night with Tyler Perry; Perry was already en route to Atlanta from Los Angeles, and offered to escort Bobby Brown after learning of the news. There was also a drug search executed on the home yesterday afternoon; no drugs were found.

  1. I suspect no drugs were found as the search was done in the afternoon and the incident took place in the morning :/

  2. Yup @gina
So tragic. BK obviously suffered anoxemia (lack of oxygen to the brain) from acute intoxication, blunt force trauma, drowning or a combination of those three. My friend was put in a medically induced coma before she ultimately passed away two years ago. Super Bowl 2013 was the last time I saw her, so today is tough for me. Thank god my doggy is still with me right now.
Anyways, the next step is probably to run a series of around three tests to determine the extent of brain death. Sending lots of love to this poor girl.

    4. Sometimes a medically induced coma will save someone with traumatic head injury, when I heard a friend of mine was in a medically induced coma after being hit by a truck I thought that's it she is going to die but the coma saved her and saved her brain. But drowning is a different ballgame.

    5. Thanks for the love and happy Super Bowl Sunday to my internet family! <3
I am trying to start my day off happy by beachside mimosas and roasted beef hash!

@Tina: You are absolutely correct. Bobbi has a good shot at pulling through, it really just depends on how long her brain and blood was deprived of oxygen. The critical time period varies, but even just 7 minutes out can be fatal. At least they found her when they did.

    1. Guido, I hope I do not offend and I'm so very sorry if I do, I sometimes get confused by people's genders on here, with user names and such? You don't have to answer if this is an inappropriate question :/

  4. So sad. My best friend growing up mom passed like this. She had been clean for a long time, mixed a dose of her meds and some pain medicine and ran herself a hot bath. Had a heart attack in the tub and drown. I so feel for the families of these people, it's so helpless to watch someone on this path and having to take a step back and let them make their own life or death decisions.

  5. Tyler Perry accompanying him does not surprise me at all. I don't care for his movies, but he's a good guy. I wonder if he tried to step in sooner and no one knows about it.

LadyH & Krystie, I'm so sorry to hear your stories. I have a relative who had huge addiction issues (and domestic violence) and she took her life at a young age. She made it to the hospital but there was nothing they could do. Addiction is an a*hole.

Someone yesterday mentioned that people are sad about Bobbi but not about Lilo. I think the reason for that is that Bobbi never really had a chance. Two druggie parents and one who overdosed, a controlling family who wanted her money, a tool for a boyfriend/husband, no real talent - she didn't get anything out of the gate. Lilo had two idiot parents but managed a decent acting career before screwing it up with booze, drugs, hooking, and she's gotten away with multiple offenses. Pleading a tropical virus to avoid community time for your fourth offense? Grifter.

    1. I agree about lilo. I think Bobbi is hurting and has been hurting her entire life. Lindsay is entitled, had the talent and threw it away to chase a high. There's a difference in numbing the pain and chasing a high for sure.

    2. Seven, i also agree with you. And tyler perry did try to help by giving her a role in a tv show. She was unreliable, made alot of demands and was no actress. She walked away from a good setup. Perry, to his credit, felt bad but did not knock her in the press. He is a good guy.

    3. Yeah what AuntLicky said. Tyler tried to give her a steady job but she was too much to handle. Hope she heals and that this is a wake up call. Remember the rumors of her cousin/husband wanting her fortune? Wonder what happens if she passes?

    4. @Seven, well put---all of it!! didn't Bobbi's Grandmother C.Houston try & try w/ Bobbi though???

  7. Meanie, most of her family addicts, or uninvolved. Addicts are selfish. You know she cld have gone a different way i know a woman, she was brought in in bad area of city, both parents addicts and some of the kids. Finally she was fed up trying to help them, and walked away from almost all of them, the addicts anyway. Worked hard, married a nice man, another survivior, he has his own business flipping houses and renovations. They bought a house, renovated it, have four children, all of them immaculate and go to private school, her house is neat as a pin. All of that probably reaction to her chaotic upbringing. But i wonder, why does one person fall into drugs, where another says, oh no, not for me. I hope Bobbi k recovers, but if she is just gonna keep using, whats the point? As neil sings, " every junkie's like a setting sun." And as Edgar Winter sang," why am i fighting to live if im living to die?"

    1. I've thought about that a lot too. When I hear the stories about children overcoming horrible situations and go on to Harvard. The story about the young girl who was homeless and was entering college. What is it inside one person to succeed and others to just not give a shit?

    2. There have been numerous studies which have established some people are more prone to addiction. Couple that with a highly dysfunctional and traumatic childhood, attachment disorder and role modelling from both parents, this poor girl had a difficult path ahead of her. I really hope she comes out of this okay. Truly.

  8. As per TMZ's latest update:

"She is currently on a ventilator but we're told tests have determined her brain function is alarmingly low.

Bobbi Kristina's dad, Bobby Brown, is at her bedside.

Doctors have told the family they should continue hoping and praying, but the signs are not good."

  10. I remember when she and her brother figure got married there were rumours that it wasn't actually a binding marriage, so if that was to be the case, it wouldn't be the "husband's" decision if a decision needed to be made. Most news outlets that I've read have stated that it wouldbe Bobby who would make that decision, which would not be thecase if she were a married woman right?

    ReplyDelete
  11. How old is she? I think any adult can assign any other adult a power of attorney over their medical decisions and it does not have to be a spouse esp if you don't trust your spouse, it can be a sibling or parent or a friend or a lawyer.

    1. Now whether someone this young thought about putting that in place, who knows.

  12. Even if drugs weren't found in the house, as we all know why that is, I'm sure the doctors can determine fault.
Just a thought that occurred to me- hope I'm wrong
I'm wondering if physical assault played a part. (On top of drugs)
Earlier in the day she had posted s selfie, a young male with her who wasnt her brother/ husband figure. Perhaps that set that set the husband off.

  13. @SYF- I really hope physical violence was not a factor here. Bobbi had also been tweeting a lot about moving to LA soon to start her own career. Some sites are reporting that life support removal and funeral arrangement talks have begun. I hope they are wrong but the longer Bobbi is down, the bleaker her chances of recovery.

    1. On the contrary, Eonline is reporting that according to several sources, she isn't even in a medically induced coma. Bobby Brown did release a statement via his lawyer just confirming she is in hospital and asking for privacy and prayers and added that no updates would be given. Who really knows? Very sad situation.

    2. Radar just published that Bobbi is brain dead and that she is not expected to survive because she lost oxygen to her brain for too long. Poor baby girl.

The Radar quotes from within the hour about Bobbi being brain dead came from a nurse!!
