Johnny Depp Getting Into Publishing

Did you know that Johnny Depp has his own publishing house? Under the umbrella of HarperCollins, Johnny Depp has been releasing books on his imprint Infinitum Nihil. Page Six reports that Depp's latest release will be a republishing of the cult novel Narcisa: Our Lady of Ashes, by tattoo artist Jonathan Shaw. Depp has previously released Woody Guthrie's House of Earth, and Bob Gruen's See Hear Yoko.

    1. @auntliddy, Narcisa is out of print and used copies cost a fortune. Re-releasing them means Depp's imprint not only gets a cut of the profit but also the adoration of people who have been wanting that book for ages, which in turn means they'll come back for more. Narcisa is a Hunter S Thompson self-involved type of book and those tend to have cult followings.

Viggo Mortenson owns a small publishing company (Perceval Press) that publishes original materials that might otherwise not be published b/c it's not mainstream. I bought a photography book from them once and was extremely impressed with the quality of the printing, nothing like what you would get at B&N.

    3. I think it's cool that he's doing reprints. Nothing worse than when you're trying to add something to your collection be it - book, vinyl, cd or dvd and it's out of print. Just no 8-tracks please lol.

    1. Jonathan has tattooed Jim Jarmusch AND Dee Dee Ramone. Although I'm not a big fan of tribal work.

  6. i can't believe his looks and stardom and bonerdom have gone so downhill. He does nothing for me anymore so he probably should have some businesses that don't involve him being front and center

  7. Funny how he can try his hand at publishing, but can't seem to read his own film scripts.
