    1. Derek, apparently you only have to be an entertainer for 6 1/2 minutes to get a star these days.

    2. It's nullifying the value of the early, significant, actual stars. If everyone has a star, no one has a star.

    3. Well said, Kno Won. I think stars should only be given to people who've made a significant impact on the industry they're in.

      Here are the 2015 recipients:

      MOTION PICTURES:
Raymond Chandler (posthumous), Eugenio Derbez, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Garner, Peter Jackson, Bob Kane (posthumous), Daniel Radcliffe, Paul Rudd, Snoopy, Melissa McCarthy and Christoph Waltz

      TELEVISION:
James L. Brooks, Ken Ehrlich, Bobby Flay, Seth MacFarlane, Julianna Margulies, Chris O’Donnell, Jim Parsons, Amy Poehler, Kelly Ripa and Sofia Vergara.

      RECORDING:
Lukasz ‘Dr. Luke’ Gottwald, Kool & The Gang, Pitbull, Al Schmitt and Pharrell Williams.

      RADIO:
      Larry Elder.

      LIVE THEATRE/LIVE PERFORMANCE:
Kristin Chenoweth, Dick Gregory and Ennio Morricone.

I mean, there are people in there that really DESERVE stars but, for the most part, it's a who's who of WTFness.

    4. Pitbull? Melissa McCarthy? Bobby Flay?! Not knocking anyone that likes these celebs, it's just unsettling to be giving them this "legend" status so early.

    5. Yep the going price was $15,000 last I heard so yes it dilutes the prestige of the honour and esp of those people who truly earned recognition but hey maybe they had to bribe etc people to get a star too. The very reason to not want one.

    6. Morricone deserved a star decades ago.

  2. Did his stoopid hat get one too?

  3. Yeah I was about to say the same thing Karen. It's like you have one or two good songs or one or two good movies or one or two good sitcoms and all of a sudden you get a star on the walk of fame. Truly though when you think about it, it actually makes sense. Now that stars are so easily replaced with new or stars there's not a whole lot of staying power. If you can buy yourself a star and be immortal why not?

  5. Pharrell has been around and relevant for a long time, it's not like he is a one hit wonder. I don't know if musicians usually get stars, but he's been around and relevant for longer than despicable me.

    1. I do agree, I have been a fan since N.E.R.D---I actually dont like his new stuff...

    2. Love N.E.R.D! I also love that him and Andre 3000 marched to the beat of their own drum in the hip hop world. You don't have to be white to be a "skater"

  6. I agree with Krystie - Pharrell is a real talent who deserves a star. Kind of sad it came around just as he's been in political trouble because of his comments on the Ferguson case. Personally, I don't think what he said was outrageous, but it's a very sensitive situation.

    2. He said something about Mike Brown acting like a bully when he pushed the convenience store owner before he was shot dead, although he made it clear that this was no excuse for the shooting. The first thing I thought when I read it was: Pharrell is a little guy. I'll bet he's been on the wrong end of a bully at least once or twice in his life.

  7. Pharrel has been brilliant for decades. Did he start with The Neptunes?
To get the star you just apply and pay about $25,000 I think. Kim K was denied lol! So when you see an old timer getting one that you think deserved it years ago, they probably just didn't feel like it. It's not exactly an award they knock on your door to hand out.
Pharrel deserves a star just for his amazing Adidas collection ;)

    1. kat reality stars are never allowed to qualify.. they will never meet the criteria
apparently it takes a little more than a check

    2. Yeah Sugar but she was trying to get them to create the new category which they refused but it's only a matter of time.

  8. I know, it's so outrageous that he ask why mike Browns "bullyish" behavior was acceptable. I don't think he was blaming the parents, I think he was questioning as to why kids think thuggish behavior is cool or ok. But then again he sang with snoop for how many years? Seems like he should know the answer to that one.

  9. Yeah that said I like Pharrell, seems like a very class act on The Voice he is the first judge I can recall who insisted on meeting the family of the contestants he choose in the blind auditions
