Bradley Cooper Talks Sobriety

Bradley Cooper sat down with Vanity Fair recently for their January issue. Among the topics discussed was Cooper's sobriety. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cooper has been sober since August of 2004. Due to his sobriety, Cooper wanted to make sure that he would be able to bulk up for his role as a Navy SEAL in the upcoming movie American Sniper. Luckily he was able to put on the required thirty pounds of muscle for the role the natural way.

  1. What would the unnatural way have been?

    2. No idea! Perhaps the addictive personality means he's likely to become dependent on any substance be it alcohol or steroids

    3. Some people run their "program" more tightly than others. For people with stringent sobriety definitions, yes steroids could be considered breaking one's sobriety. They don't get you high though, so I'm a bit lost on this myself.

  4. From the article "Cooper has been sober since August 2004 and said this was why he decided not to use any stimulants to undergo his physical transformation for the role of Kyle"

    1. "Stimulants" such as cocaine, meth, adderal - these would all just cause one to lose weight.

  5. Do stimulants bulk you up? Are steroids addictive?

    1. Stimulants do NOT bulk you up, quite the opposite (no appetite, zippy metabolism) - steroids can be a bit behaviorally addictive due to a desire to sustain their effects (increased testosterone, etc) but they are not addictive like oxycodone (pain pills).

  8. He probably is just looking for a pat on the back. This doesn't really makeuch sense to me. So you want a cookie for earning that paycheck by becoming your character without drugs?
